After Assassinations In Arab Spring Nations, Protesters Express Their Anger At The Muslim Brotherhood

An excerpt from, *"Musmari killing sparks protests against Muslim
Brotherhood"* by Maha Ellawati (Libya Herald, July 27):
The killing of popular Libyan political activist, Abdulsalam Musmari, in
Benghazi has sparked country-wide protests against the Muslim Brotherhood.
*Hundreds of men and women in Benghazi took to the streets last night in
fury at the assassination of Musmari, one in a string of recent killings.
Two military officials were also assassinated last night in Benghazi, one

Yesterday morning Victoria and I joined a protest by the Australian
Anti-Bases Campaign in Sydney. We met at a park where people dressed
themselves in white with white masks and carried signs calling themselves

protests against the growing militarization of their country.
As we walked in single file through the busy Saturday morning streets
leaflets were handed to people, cars honked, a bus driver flashed us the
peace sign, and we got a nice reaction from the public. We ended up at city

"sharecroppers on wheels": port truckers are organizing, and they are winning
When is an employee not an employee? The answer to this riddle is rapidly
becoming the true face of employment in the North America today.
In her brilliant investigative book *Bait and Switch*, Barbara Ehrenreich
writes about "jobs" that require scare quotes. These "jobs" provide no
salary, no benefits, and no workplace. In most cases, the "employee"
finances the most basic tools of the trade out of their own pockets. Real
estate agents, insurance salespeople, and cosmetic salespeople often fall
under this category. You might be surprised to learn that many truckers do,

the thinking went.
A decade later the air combat world had been stood on its head. Fast,

Longest Walk 4 Return to Alcatraz
Day 12: We have made it to Ruffs Dale and will be in Washington tomorrow

problem of getting the truck fixed, which is more a question of time to

with this and we anticipate it to be fixed this weekend. In the

Barnaby Jack, reputed to be one of the best computer hackers on the planet

The 35 year old was highly respected in computer security circles, often

He found fame when he publicly hacked an ATM machine making it give out

If our leaders could have recognized the signs ahead of time, do you think

similar to what we witnessed back in 2008 and 2009. It is almost as if we ... more »

Stones and eggs hurled at Hasidic Jewish boys in sickening attack in Sheerness
'Stones have been thrown at a coach carrying Jewish boys before they were

Witnesses saw around seven teenage boys and girls hurling missiles at the

If this had been an attack on Muslim schoolchildren then I am sure the BBC

"A Son Meets His Father"
*"A Son Meets His Father" *
by Jason Burnett
"Late last year, while resting in my hotel room on a business trip to
India, I saw my father being interviewed on CNN International; this was the
first time I had seen him or heard his voice in 27 years. The coincidence
intrigued me enough to attempt to contact him and after I returned to the
States, I spent the next few days trying various combinations of e-mail
addresses until I finally hit upon the right one, and received a response.
Before I knew it, we had set a date in February to meet. I was about to

"A Father Meets His Son"
* "A Father Meets His Son"*
by John S. Burnett
"There was a water-stained photograph, faded from years of tropical heat,
of my 10-year-old son and me as we walked away down the pier toward my
sailboat. I had my arm around his shoulders and his arm was around my
waist; there was a lot of love in that picture. Permanently framed in the
boat, the photo captured that sad moment — the last time I was to see my
son for 27 years.
I met him again in a crowded hotel lobby in New York City. We had agreed
to meet, to test the waters. A son was now ready to find out who his father
was, a f... more »

“There was a time when every wood, every tree, was thought to be inhabited
by spirits called dryads, every pool and stream by naiads. Even not so long
ago, our road here in Ireland was called "the fairies' road." The world, we
say, was enchanted- every stone and plant infused with an animate spirit.
Science put paid to all that, chased the spirits from their woods and
pools, drove the fairies from their hills. Disenchanted the landscape.
Well, maybe not. It depends on how you define enchantment.

Halliburton charged with criminal acts
But of course it's Halliburton, which is apparently above the law so, no
real penalties will incur.
Under the plea agreement, which requires court approval, Houston-based
Halliburton will also face three years' probation, pay the maximum fine of
$200,000 and continue to cooperate in the Justice Department's criminal
investigation of the April 2010 explosion and fire on the drilling
platform, which killed 11 rig workers off Louisiana.
The Justice Department said it would not pursue further criminal charges

Analysis Of The Coup In Egypt: Various Voices, Different Dissections

Dissecting the events in Egypt is too complicated, it is above my
understanding, expertise, and knowledge. There are so many interests,
parties, and political voices involved in propagandizing their cause; so
many conspiracies and agendas at stake. And that is only politics inside
the country. The American empire and Israel are hovering like poisonous
vultures above Egypt. They don't want to see any serious and positive
transformation taking place there. They would much rather see the country

Last week, Tepco finally admitted the contaminated groundwater is flowing
to the sea.
Looking around the media coverage, I noticed there is a huge
misunderstanding about this issue. Here I want to correct it.
*1. The data don’t suggest their dumping, but it’s worse than that. *
As we all know, Tepco is a liar. The government wants to conceal the fact.

transfers
that seem quite peculiar.

Elsewhere: Trump Again, Boehner, Immigration, More
Let's see....I complained about anyone taking the latest Donald Trump for

I guess we'll see.

was a bit of a rehash, but a bunch of people said they liked.

“This is such a supercharged subject, I could start from a dozen places.
But let’s begin here: the individual is unique, because he is he. He is
unique because he has his own ideas, because he has his own desires,
because he has his own power. That power belongs to no one else. In
particular, it doesn’t belong to the State. The State will try, will always
try to suggest that it is granting power to the individual, but this is a
lie. It’s an illusion broadcast with ill-intent.
