Bill Press: Stupidest Punditry Of The Week
When I was president of Reprise Records I hired a guy to be the first
online promotion man in the music business. People thought it was the
funniest, kookiest thing they had ever heard. Online was just some silly
gimmick that would never take off. The reaction was as if I had hired
someone to be a promotion man for Mars, Venus and the moon... you know,
just in case. (The guy I hired eventually went on to help develop iTunes
for Apple.) But at the time, everyone was laughing. Still, all the trade
magazines handled it delicately; no one was mean or disparaging at all.
That's because... more »

Edward Cline points out that today’s compulsory factory schools are
frequently so poor that if the inmates acquire any real-world "smarts" at

cajolings and ministrations of teachers dedicated to indoctrinating
students to become selfless, tolerant, non-judgmental, and self-sacrificial

The Reactionary Mania To Destroy Social Security Continues Unabated-- Since The 1930s
Social Security is the most popular government program in the history of
America. But elites have always hated it and have always tried to undermine

Social Security. Before Paul Ryan began clamoring to cut Social Security,

The Evolution of Technology
Humans are the most sophisticated toolmakers in the family of life. We’ve

technology that we can no longer survive without it. If we eliminated

many to perish.
Humans no longer sit in the pilot seat of our global civilization. The
autopilot runs the show. Our complex labyrinth of technology herds us

Also, he may be the dumbest journalist on the planet. Consider what

The story was still new to most readers. In its lengthy, detailed report,

The church's granted indulgences reduce the time Catholics believe they

IMF Report On Iraq’s Economy Sees Short-Term Growth, But Long-Term Structural Problems
In May 2013, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) released a short report
on Iraq’s economy. It predicted continued growth in the short to
medium-term, but warned of structural problems as well. Iraq is obviously
famous for its oil industry, which still has huge potential to expand. The
issue with the country’s economy is that there is little else to build
upon. The government also plays a dominant role with all its
inefficiencies, and that has a negative effective upon the business
environment. That represents the dichotomy of Iraq. Oil presents a huge
source of wealth, but it c... more »

Executive Order Accelerates Mandatory HIV Testing For All Citizens
[image: Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...]
*Activist Post*
President Barack Obama posted an executive order yesterday which appears to
mandate HIV testing for "all individuals ages 15 to 65 years."
The HIV Care Continuum Initiative claims responsibility for recent
successes in the study of HIV but says "further Federal action is
appropriate in response to these new developments."
That federal action appears to be in the form of mandated HIV testing, and
Obama seems to suggest that HIV testing will be free under the Affordable
Care Act.

Compound interest is the norm
*Zacharias v. Zurich Insurance Company*, 2013 ONCA 482 is an insurance case
with implications beyond the insurance field. The court considers whether
under specific legislation interest payable is simple or compound (an easy
decision on the specific legislation). In so doing the court makes general
statements showing that compound interest is the norm even where there is
some ambiguity; specifically for interest to be simple it needs to be
expressly identified as such. This has implications throughout commercial
law. The Court writes:

The BBC report in connection with the hot weather that:
The hot weather has prompted Rabbi Alan Kimche, one of London's leading
orthodox rabbis, to warn his congregation about dehydration during a fast,
which is due to begin on Monday night for 25 hours
No background to the fast? I wonder why, oh yes because yesterday was Tisha

First and Second Temples in Jerusalem and the subsequent exile of the Jews
from the Land of Israel.

Retired Chinese Judge Confirms Organ Harvesting
This report nicely outlines the operational history of the organ recovery
program and how it naturally descended into thinly veiled criminal
exploitation of coercive power of the communist hierarchy.
At this point the story is pretty clear with plenty of witness stepping up
and getting the message out. The present problem is just how can the
communist party even end these practices today. Science and time will
solve the problem but the actual need for dead bodies will be with us for a
few years yet and this market will draw criminal solutions. India has a

"Friends are friends because they've discovered how much they have in
common. Opponents, adversaries, and foes are friends too, who have not yet
discovered this. It's as if a band of amazing angels got together, before
time even began, to celebrate their common heritage, sense of adventure,
creativity and savoir faire, and decided to meet in the distant future,
amongst the jungles of time and space, upon a distant little blue planet,
to see how long it would take for each and every one of them to discover
who they really are. 7 billion angels, to be precise."

CONSPIRACISTS VERSUS CONVENTIONALISTS
On 8 July 2013, psychologists Michael J. Wood and Karen M. Douglas, of the
University of Kent in theUK, published a study of* conspiracist* and *

The authors were surprised to discover that:
Of the 2174 comments collected, *1459 were conspiracist* and *715 were
conventionalist. *
*"That means it is the pro-conspiracy commenters who are expressing what is
now the conventional wisdom, while the anti-conspiracy commenters are
becoming a small, beleaguered minority." *

Spinal Injuries In China
Hard on the heels of successful work on dogs we have here a review of the
rapid progress underway in China. The key point is that damage is been
healed now. It is also abundantly clear that there is now serious momentum
and full protocol resolution is essentially at hand. Sooner than later,
the wheel chair will become a thing of the past for most victims.
It is now clearly inside five years and it will be a triumph. Expect
governments to press ahead to support the resolution of all available
medical cases simply because this is a huge drain on government revenues.

First Man to Hear People Before They Speak
I think this is extremely important in our understanding of a whole range
of skills were reaction becomes preternatural. Several clocks are
integrated but this can also be selected for. The quick lesson is that key
skills need to be made autonomous.
Thus a long ritual in order to aim a long bow may well be seriously
counterproductive while a simple draw and shoot is far easier to train up.
One still needs to master all the movements but the objective must be to
make them automatic.

Just Three Pints of Beer a Week
I am not entirely sure that the conclusions are fully warranted, but it
clear that sustaining high level brain function and chronic beer
consumption are seriously contra indicated. The more serious problem is
all this is also tied into our social behavior and sexual protocols. So it
is not a case of simply changing habits for the majority of people.
The clear point in all this is that three pints or three glasses are a bit
too much. I would like to understand if we can find a threshold in this
that may allow one glass per session for the known benefits. It could even ... more »

Minimum Wage-- Should The Kochs' Lifeless Bodies Be Dragged Through The Streets Behind The Chariot Of A Tribune Of The People?
The video above isn't about the Minimum Wage. It's about the Tea Party

politics are so screwed up. I don't think Bachmann is consciously lying,

Eric Holder Watch - First at a speech given to the NAACP today , he apparently blasted " Stand Your Ground Laws " ( which were not at issue in the George Zimmerman trial by the way ) and the idea of self - defense as dangerous and may lead to escalations ? ? And is the brother of George Zimmerman correct in assering that the DOJ solicited the public concerning information that could help a potential federal civil rights prosecution ? ? And do you know what evidence the jury actually considered in the George Zimmerman Trial - not the media spin from either the left or right perspective - but the actual evidence ? Athoughtful essay from William Saletan covers what was actually presented ( with links to both the Prosecution and Defense closing arguments summarizing the evidence in the case ) .......Check the essay and when you have time , listen to both closing arguments - you may be surprised ........have an open mind and you may learn something new.......
