Jim Mowrer-- The Democrat Running For The Iowa House Seat Currently Occupied By Steve King
Perhaps you just read the news that Iowa populist Democrat Bruce Braley is
way ahead of all the Republicans running for the state's open Senate seat.
2014 is shaping up well for Iowa Democrats. Braley's margins must seem
daunting for the GOP now. He leads Matt Whitaker 43-34, Joni Ernst 45-33,
Mark Jacobs 44-32, Sam Clovis 43-31, and David Young 45-32. And PPP summed
up there report by reminding readers that "although Iowa Republicans may
not have a top tier contender in the Senate race, they're still better off
without it being Steve King. Only 29% of voters in the state have a

Think again. In the growing movement that I'll call the "If You Can't Beat

The bill from Reps. Donna Edwards (D-Md.) and Eddie Bernice Johnson

Especially in a large, sprawling nation, this can be a difficult task. In
the age of tribal division on cable, the Zimmerman trial provides a case
study in the depth of this problem.
But no! As a people, we will *not* be able to conduct a discourse if we

Consider, for example, the case of North Carolina. The state was hit hard

Stasi was East Germany's secret police. It suppressed opposition to
Stalinist power. It was one of the most repressive state apparatuses in
modern times.
When East Germany collapsed in 1989, Stasi had over 90,000 full-time
employees. Another 300,000 were paid informants. They spied on East German
citizens. Thousands of West German collaborators did so on theirs.
Stasi infiltrated NATO headquarters. Legendary spymaster Markus (Mischa)

As the number of good jobs continues to decline, the number of Americans

Last month, the U.S. economy actually *lost* 240,000 full-time jobs.
Overall, the U.S. economy has only added 130,000 full-time jobs in 2013,

Green fullness
Polyhymnia walks between the beds
critical of eye, noting the way the leaves
of corn have curled upon themselves,
rattling in hardly any breeze at all.
They'd like to make believe it's Autumn now,
would they? Playing at getting past the part
where seed heads form, waving their silky hair,
and then depart, leaving the leaves bereft
of any purpose but to leave this world --
except, of course, they don't: that is the gift
of mulch. She brings the hose and couples to
its end a yellow whirligig, made to sing
the holy song of water to the leaves.
Today, green fullness. Tomorrow, living grain.

Everything is contract.
Business models derive from contracts.
Contracts do not have to be written, they can be verbal, or implied, If
you want to know the basic elements of a contract, look it up online or in
a law-book or business journal. For example, hiring a babysitter for Friday
night (offer), he/she agrees (accept) and shows up to babysit (performance)
then gets paid when you get home (compensation). Get it? It is a bit

Nunavut, in the Inuktitut language, means "our land". When Google Maps teamed

The Warrior's Secret
What looks to have been set up at the very “highest levels” is the lesson
of Unity. Even “levels” is a misnomer – it is us. It is only our
awareness, limited by our physical bodies, that defines that which we are
conscious of. We have a very specific job to do. We all do and we are
equally important in the doing of it.
Nothing will deter you from that job because you are a part of life. Life
pursues itself and is relentless in that pursuit. *Whatever role you came

Controversial Case Against Central Bank Of Iraq Officials Continues
In June 2013, the controversy surrounding the Central Bank of Iraq returned
to the news. Back in October 2012, the governor of the bank and many of his
top officials faced arrest warrants over wasting government funds by not
properly overseeing its weekly money auctions. The former deputy governor
of the bank recently went to the press attacking the case against him and
others as the work of political parties who were trying to manipulate the
country’s finances for their own gain. Several politicians are concerned
about the new management of the bank as well. They are worried about... more »
Susan Lindauer, then a high ranking CIA agent, was tasked with interrogating Iraqi diplomats regarding any knowledge they might have had regarding a possible attack on the World Trade Center. When her three superiors (Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld) ignored Iraqi evidence that someone was planning such an attack, she carried the story to Congress, a whistleblowing act that resulted in her being held in solitary confinement until well after the attacks took place.

A Court must allow submissions to be made on material issues
*R. v. Cook*, 2013 ONCA 467 is a good source for the principle that where a
material issue is before the Court there must be opportunity given to
address that issue. A Court is not required to allow endless argument
however it is an error to refuse an opportunity to make submissions:

Ink Blots
By Capt. Fogg
Who needs ink blots? Life itself is a Rorschach test. What you see as a
pattern, a 'gestalt' if you prefer in something random or arbitrary is a
window into your mind. Likewise what you find to condemn in others may
often illustrate what you feel - or fear to find - in yourself. It's been
my experience that people who feel guilty about all their lies are quick to
see others as liars, for instance and when I hear certain TV personalities
telling us how, as Rush once snickered, Michael J. Fox is *faking* his
Parkinson's to get sympathy or the Republican hyenas who ins... more »

covering, despite their own convictions. With me it's the opposite; I have

CAN WE TALK: A night in the life of the tribe!
*TUESDAY, JULY 9, 2013*
*Part 2—Do you believe Lisa Bloom:* As a people, are we able to hold a
national discourse?
The evidence isn’t encouraging. Our policy discussions have been a joke for
several decades now. They tend to be built around two kinds of facts: Facts
which are simply wrong, and other *accurate* facts which are being withheld.
When we talk about politicians, we tend to get lost in the body wash of our
own fatuous longings.
Some of the fault, dear Brutus, is in ourselves! But a very large part of
the fault is in the stars–in the famous TV stars seen on our cable “news... more »

USS Helm Revisited
A few weeks back, I mentioned a UFO sighting from the *USS Helm* that had

been fired on by a number of the ships. The UFO reacted to the hostile fire
and sped off.

there was nothing in the deck logs to support the report but allowed how he
might have gotten the dates wrong. I suggested that a more thorough search

POLITICS IN MAINE
Our right-wing Governor LePage here in Maine vetoed the state legislature's
drone bill yesterday. The bill would have required police to have warrants
from the court before they could snoop on us with drones. The bill also
sadly allowed for the testing of weaponized drones in Maine. The governor
has vetoed 82 bills during this past legislative session - an all-time
record in Maine. So basically damn near everything that was done in the
legislative session was for naught. To override a veto the legislature
needs 2/3 majority and not enough Republicans are willing to go against ... more »

Orders for specific medical treatment of federal prisoners proper in limited circumstances
*R. v. Taylor,* 2013 NLCA 42 holds that, in very narrow circumstances, a
Superior Court judge may make an order for specific medical treatment of a
prisoner serving a term of custody in a federal institution:
[28] Nevertheless, I agree that, as a general proposition, a
sentencing judge's intrusion into this area ought to be exercised sparingly
and should generally be couched in the form of a recommendation rather than
an order.

legitimate occasion where an order allowing for treatment by the o... more »
