Yesterday we showed how Russia and China hold "massive" naval drills in the
northern part of the East China Sea (close enough to Japan for us to

the US (on part of Russia), was sending just as clear a message to Japan
(on the part of China). Sure enough, overnight Japan was not too happy with

Bad thoughts
Since everyone is talking openly about sensitive things at the minute,
let’s just mention the Tweeting thing. “My thoughts are my own” isn’t a
very effective disclaimer, but even if it were - shouldn’t the similarity
of the thoughts that they claim are “their own” ring alarm bells with
anyone that cares to give the matter some thought? Think about it.
It has to be more than a coincidence that in a massive organisation with
millions of staff and a policy of diversity, impartiality and gender

Lazy Thinking and the Election Results
Some points challenging the avalanche of lazy thinking tumbling off Mt
Politics about the local election results.
Complacency, part one. UKIP did very well, they won 161 seats. It is very
silly, as some do, to bang on about the party having zero MPs and not
winning any councils. Outside of London, UKIP have put down and
strengthened their roots in Tory and Labour-held constituencies alike. The

two sides to negotiate an agreement for the rebels to leave al-Waar, an
area across the Orontes River from Homs.

Endorsements Mean Something-- Sometimes They're A Warning From Malevolent Forces
Not everybody studies the records of politicians asking for their votes. I
do. But for many people, at least some of the time, it's pretty much
essential to consider what a trusted organization recommends. When I see
the DCCC has jumped in strong for a candidate, it always makes me reticent
and makes me wonder what's wrong with the candidate. Are they weak on core
progressive values? Are they prone to taking orders from the top? Are they
prone towards corruption? Those have been the characterists Rahm Emanuel
and Steve Israel have looked for in candidates. The Blue Dogs and New

Isla Vista massacre: when testosterone runs amok
On Friday, Elliot Rodger (22) murdered six other people and himself – in an
act of stabbing and frantic shooting – in Isla Vista, California. The son
of the British-born Hollywood director Peter Rodger has previously
announced his plans to murder many women – those who rejected him – because
of his sexual frustration. I think that there are too many men who say
similar things so it would be impractical to "stop" all of them. So it's
disputable whether the event could have been avoided. But the feeling that
it could have been is particularly annoying.

Pope “At odds with Israel”
We’ll have to watch out for Quentin Sommervilles’ bizarre take on the Pope’s
attitude to Israel. He got off to a bad start when he announced that the
Vatican is ‘At odds with Israel because Pope Francis favours a two-state
solution’ and went on to say that Israel sees Jerusalem as their capital
“unlike the rest of the world”, although that particular bit isn’t in the
clip shown here. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s Sunday programme.
Politicians'-speak
BBC political correspondent Chris Mason seems to be moving into presenting
these days. Following his hosting of *Broadcasting House *a couple of weeks
back, young Chris presented *Saturday PM* this evening.
The discussion featuring Tory MP Robert Halfon and Labour List's Mark
Ferguson particularly caught my attention. They were discussing how the two
main parties should react to UKIP's gains, and Chris asked them if they
should follow UKIP's example and talk "like human beings".
It's certainly true that mainstream politicians often spout
'politicians'-speak', sounding as if they... more »
The 'Weak' in Westminster
I was idly listening to the Week in Westminster this morning. Peter Oborne
seems to have a soft spot for UKIP. Is he jumping on the winners’
bandwagon? Does he sympathise with Nigel Farage merely because he’s been
demonised by Oborne’s media colleagues? Or is it that defending UKIP is a
one-size-fits-all easy peasy way of denouncing all current mainstream
politics and politicians?
Come to think of it, the system forces all mainstream politicians to toe
the party line, and when it comes to inflammatory issues like immigration
your common or garden party politician has no alternat... more »

Anyone Can Claim To Be A Democrat, But Not Every Democrat Embraces The Party's Core Values
Growing up in Brooklyn in the '60s, I wasn't always a big fan of the
Democratic Party. In Brooklyn that's where corruption lived. And in terms
of the issues that mattered most to me-- equality and peace-- some
Democrats were on the same page as I was but many-- particularly powerful
committee chairmen (and not *only* from The South-- were as far from my
beliefs as the Republicans. Things have gotten better since the worst
racists in the party migrated en masse to the GOP after Lyndon Johnson
started signing legislation that integrated the country for real. The Solid

May 24: IRock closes.
That's big news for the Irving press. Front page news. It seems nightclub
attendance has been dropping in Moncton, so a number of clubs have closed.
Let's see now. Nightclubs are closing because people aren't interested in
them as they used to be. But if people aren't interested as they used to be
in nightclubs, who wants to read a front page story about it - especially
one that says almost nothing?
Why don't people go to clubs as much? Does this signal some kind of a
change in society? What does it mean? Really, you don't have a story if you

I am insulted by the promise of a “quality education”
The Washington Post recently reported that DC approved three new charter

wildly different leadership styles and educational philosophies? Plus, one
of these schools is being opened by a former […]

Life Goes On In Iraq: Sabean Mandeans’ Golden Baptism Festival
Sabean Mandeans are considered one of the oldest religions in the world.
Sabean is from the Aramaic word “saba” which means baptized. This is one of
the basic rituals of the religion, being dipped into water to be baptized.
Mandeans is from the Aramaic “yada – ada” to know, meaning that they are
the baptized people who know about God. The following are pictures of
Mandeans celebrating their Golden Baptism Festival in the Big Zab River,

Underlying motives behind the porn industry
*GKM*
May 12, 2014
The pornography industry in America (Hollywood in particular) is not a nice
topic, but we need to be aware of its pushers and their motives. Some are
simply in it for the money, but many also have a political and religious
motive. They are attempting to destroy any Christian values or moral basis
for American society.
Many have noticed the disproportionate involvement of Jews in Hollywood in
general. But what many do not realize is the disproportionate involvement
of Jews in the porn industry in Hollywood. In 2004 Nathan Abrams, a Jewish

“The crucified planet Earth,

The irony would be that we know what we are doing.

Charlie Dent was first elected to Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley
