110:07pm MDSTAlex Sink Will Run The Same Campaign Against Congressman Jolly In November… No, Really
Last night a dull, uninspiring centrist advocating the politics of Beltway
centrism-- despite the focus-group-tested message in the ad above (the last
one run by the doomed Alex Sink campaign)-- was defeated by a weak and
generic Republican lobbyist. Sink was defeated on election day by
poorer-than-expected turnout among Democrats and left-leaning independents,
after a surprisingly decent showing in early voting. Lots of TV ads do not
make up for a weak message (Chained CPI, for example) and a weaker ground
game. So while David Jolly's campaign was bolstered by the ground troops o... more »

“No more little children being dropped off by their mummies”
I love that headline above chosen by Lance Wiggs in promoting a sensible,
yes, sensible, proposal by the Greens to encourage children to walk and

mummies taking a round trip twice a day, then our roads are that much less

How did children end up being bubble-wrapped like this by their mummies?

The Neoliberal Neo-Nazi Coup in Ukraine. M. Chossudovsky
Video Title: The Neoliberal Neo-Nazi Coup in Ukraine. M. Chossudovsky.
Source: GlobalResearchTV. Date Published: March 12, 2014. Description:
Violence and bloodshed continues to rock Ukraine as factions compete in the
power vacuum of last month's coup in Kiev. As the country struggles to find
its way forward, however, it finds itself in the crosshairs of a NATO war
agenda that has been unfolding for years. This is the GRTV Feature
Interview with our special guest, Professor Michel Chossudovsky.
GAZA AND THE NEOCON LIE
Jonathan Tobin, a neoconservative propagandist with *Commentary* online
magazine, has written a piece today that attempts to perpetuate the neocon
myth that the Gaza Strip is a Palestinian State on account of it being run
by Hamas. In his relentless tirade against there ever being a true
Palestinian state, Tobin writes:
*…the theoretical arguments about a Palestinian state tend to ignore the
fact that one currently exists in all but name in Gaza. There, a Hamas
government continues its tyrannical Islamist rule over more than a million

Minutes later, the Chief Engineer calls to inform you that the PLS Dosage

Steve Israel May Have Been Born To Lose, But Why Are The House Democrats Fated To Be Dragged Down By Him?

Does the data support charters? Does the data support test-centered schooling?

Keeping Corporate America White and Privileged
If you thought the SAT was just for keeping the riffraff out of Harvard and

measure of high rolling job applications.
As Stephen Colbert said last night, now with Wall Street asking for SAT
scores from 30 years prior, you can be assured that one miserable day from
11th grade can determine the course of your entire life.
So the SAT offers another generation an added benefit to reproducing
educational inequality, so that now the bogus meritocracy system can be

Iraq Reaches Post-03 High In Oil Exports In February 2014
Iraq’s oil industry has been stuck on a 23-month plateau. After two new
single point mooring stations were opened in Basra in early 2011 the
country’s exports flat-lined. Finally, in February 2014 Iraq reached a new

the Oil Ministry is capable of sustaining that effort.
In February Iraq reached a new mark in exports. It averaged 2.799 million

Living In The 19th Century
Yesterday, with great fanfare, Stephen Harper signed a free trade deal with
South Korea. He claims that the deal signals prosperity for Canada. There
will be winners. But, Tom Walkom writes, they won't include the auto
industry:
Some Canadian high-tech firms, including those making aerospace equipment,
hope to profit from the deal announced Monday in Seoul. And perhaps some
will.
But the real Canadian winners will be beef and pork farmers, who will be
able to sell their wares in South Korea duty-free. Meat products now

Happy Birthday World Wide Web
The World Wide Web is 25 today, well it's 25 years since Tim Berners-Lee

evolved very quickly into a framework for the world wide web.
The world wide web dominated our lives so much that it's hard to remember

opined 'useless, too slow and it'll never replace paper encyclopedias and

errors, and (when spotted) starts you thinking like a real economist.
First highlighted by French Economist Frederic Bastiat in the nineteenth
century in his essay That Which is Seen, and That Which is Not Seen, the
Broken Window Fallacy provides interesting insight into many of today's

Ran into this a few days ago at the website of Charles Hugh Smith, *Of Two

situation in the Ukraine. There's been way too much disinformation
floating about the blogosphere.
My long held belief is that all wars are fought for only one reason;
economics, or to put it more crassly, "follow the money." There may be
other sub-categories of reasons, but the overriding impetus comes from the
desire for wealth, control, and power - three concepts that are closely
