18 Dec - The View

Just got a recumbent trike - the aluminum variant in grey - and the cat brat savages the seat.
 Yep - I like dogs.

With Congress about to vote this week on a federal budget for the current fiscal year, perhaps we can be thankful that Tuesday’s Republican presidential debate spared us extended disingenuous talk about “out-of-control government…

BREAKING: Congress has officially approved the latest omnibus budget deal. The text of the 2,000 page bill was quietly made available to the public in the middle of the night on Tuesday — just a few days before it was passed by both houses of Congress. So, what were they trying to hide?

In what’s become a sick annual tradition, members of Congress attached a multitude of riders to this must-pass piece of legislation.

Only a dedicated policy analyst sitting in the warm, dry confines of the Fraser Institute could have come up with the reality-starved thesis that there is no scientific rationale for banning tankers on B.C.’s North and Central Coast.

Fairbanks, Alaska – Four innocent Native American men have been set free from prison this week after they agreed not to sue the city or the state for the wrongful conviction and the unnecessary time behind bars. Eugene Vent, Kevin Pease, George Frese and Marvin Roberts, known as the Fairbanks Four, have all been sitting in jail since 1997 for the murder of teenager John Hartman.

What happens if these men try to seek out justice for their unlawful incarceration? Do they get thrown back in prison?

This month marks 125 years since the massacre at Wounded Knee Creek. Estimates put the number of men, women and children killed at nearly 300. The U.S. government awarded 20 Medals of Honor to soldiers who participated in the massacre. For 25 years the Chief Bigfoot Band Memorial Ride retraces Chief Bigfoot’s steps, ending at the Wounded Knee massacre site. This year the ride will include a ceremony to end all massacres. Did you learn about the Wounded Knee massacre in your history class? How can communities heal such trauma from the past?

This is absurd. We ought to be fighting Republicans. Please join me in telling the Democratic National Committee to stop blocking Bernie's access to its voter file so he can get back to work -- telling Americans what's happening to the nation, what must be done, and why the Republican candidates would take us back to the stone age.

Taking the voter file away from the Sanders campaign is a direct attack on the democratic process. Tell Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC to give…

First it was the Democratic National Committee’s refusal to schedule more than three debates, and do so only on Saturday nights when almost no one watches. Now it’s the DNC’s refusal to restore the access of Bernie’s campaign to the DNC's voter database, because of a security error made by a vendor. It almost seems as if the DNC doesn’t want Bernie to threaten Hillary's lead.

My latest. FBI files show that the bureau's decades-long spying on Pete Seeger began in 1943 when he wrote a private letter opposing a proposal to deport all Japanese American citizens and residents after World War II. You can read what happened when an intelligence officer visited Woody Guthrie in search of dirt on Seeger....
