WHY WE ARE CONFUSED

Morris Herman (108Morris108) put up one of his best videos a couple of days
ago. It's well worth watching. In it he says, amongst other things......
"The game is. Just confuse everyone"
....he says that while we are confused and therefore unable to effectively
resist, the globalist powers can simply continue to roll forward their
agenda which is to destroy culture, community, nation, race religion and
any form of social coherence that might effectively oppose them.
Morris is quite right and he wonders out loud, "How could a little tiny

At Least Tell Us What You Won't Do.
There's an orthodoxy among Canada's political parties that policy must not
be disclosed until on the advent of a general election - if then.
Election campaigns, however, are really awful venues for unveiling
policy. They're hurried and harried and awash in lies and accusations,
emotional appeals and electoral sleight of hand. Just squeezing in an
intelligent discussion of policy can be impossible.
But let's face it. If we're to be governed by consent, the very
cornerstone of democracy, it has to be informed consent freely given.

If 218 Republicans could ignore their White Whale for just a moment and

WotW: Color 101 - Beauty is NOT in the Eye of the Beholder
Of all the things I learned in college, only one concept has stuck with me
over the years. Strangely enough, it wasn't from a course necessary for my
degree, but it has profoundly changed my perceptions about the world and
has strongly influenced how I approach my career today.
This sage wisdom came from my Intro to Landscape Architecture teacher. He
started his lecture one day by saying, "You've been lied to your whole
life. *Beauty is NOT in the eye of the beholder*. And I'm going to prove it
to you."
I remember sitting there thinking, "What an idiot, of course beauty is in

Happy Birthday to Ellis Burks, 49. Not quite a HOFer...but a lot closer

Bitter gourd, also known as karela or bitter melon, is a vegetable found

The White House, in a sad attempt to prove all the international support it

the other september 11, why "they" might hate "us", and the right to live in peace
For many people in the world, especially people in South America, the date *September
11* was significant long before 2001. On that date in 1973, Augusto
Pinochet, with the help of the United States government, overthrew the
democratically elected, socialist government of Salvador Allende. Allende
was either murdered or forced into suicide. Pinochet then installed a
military dictatorship that ruled Chile until 1990, and was responsible for
tens of thousands of deaths, tortures, and disappearances, along with
right-wing economic policies that were equally brutal.

Missing persons in Canada
There are about 7,000 missing people in Canada at any given time. Of those
perhaps a sixth of the adults have mental or drug issues -- the rest are

Sometimes these are benign -- people who leave and seek a new start --
others quite the contrary -- murder victims whose bodies are not found.
Most are people involved in accidents or arrested or for some other reason
kept out of reach of their family for a brief period.
Regardless, missing people cause enormous heartache and anxiety -- the lack

Yes, Of Course It's OK to Speculate About Syria and 2016.
This again? I'm hearing all sorts of complaints about people speculating
about how the Syria matter will affect the 2016 elections.
If we're talking general election -- I'm with you. Pending an enormous
policy disaster, and perhaps even if there is one, the outcome in Syria
will likely have zero effect on the November 2016 election.
But if we're talking nominations? As long as you agree on two things:
1. The 2016 presidential nomination contests began some time ago and are
underway right now; and,
2. The outcome of the 2016 nomination contests is important
...then of course it's re... more »

driven by their own motivation to give up the struggle against the

What the government is good at is collecting taxes, taking away your

In the science of chaos, “attractors” are operational principles around
which turbulence and apparent chaos are harmonized. What the limited nature
of our prior experiences dismisses as randomness or disorder, the study of
chaos and complexity is revealing as deeper patterns of regularity.

CMS: \(3\sigma\) deficits in search for vector-like \(b\)-like quarks
This blog and other sources occasionally mention excesses, possible (or
real?) deviations of the observed quantities away from the theoretical
predictions. They're extremely rare and we expect most of them to go away
when more data is collected, anyway. But the idea that some of of them are
real is surely what keeps many people going.
However, in most of these discussions, one subtlety is neglected:
deviations from predicted values may have two signs. Plus and minus. So in
principle, deviations from the Standard Model may be either excesses

I could win a discrimination suit.*
Age discrimination is rampant in this economy. It's not unusual for older
employees to be the first selected in layoffs and demot... more »

Playing Into His Hands
A lot can happen before the next election. But, Andrew Coyne writes, public
perceptions of the opposition leaders are beginning to solidify. Justin
Trudeau has had a good summer:
The Liberals continued to draft in the jetstream of their leader, Justin
Trudeau, who demonstrated at several points his effortless ability to
command the media’s attention, as few opposition leaders can. Yes, in part
this is mere celebrity fascination — dynastic politics at its shallowest —
but in part it is owing to the personal qualities that a life in the public
eye seem to have instilled in Trudeau.

*Part 2—Who is Professor Gordon:* Adults don’t stand a chance with the New
York Times.
Consider what happened in this week’s Sunday Review. Eventually, the bright
young couples you see in those Times TV ads glanced at Professor Robert J.
Gordon’s piece about the public schools.
They may not have actually read what he wrote. But they saw the gloomy
headline, and they saw the gloomy visual. You can see the headline and
visual just by clicking this.
The headline tells a gloomy tale, a story that’s very familiar. “The Great

*Psittacus naughtiecus*
The second half hour of this morning's *Today *programme began with James
Naughtie talking (from Washington) to Justin Webb about yesterday's
remarkable events over Syria, when Presidents Obama and Assad both giving
interviews to the U.S. media, John Kerry made a throwaway remark about
Syria giving up its chemical weapons and Russia pounced on that remark to
throw an almighty spanner into the U.S. administrations calculations by
saying that Syria might indeed give up its chemical weapons, so there's no
need whatsoever for strikes.
From everything I've been ... more »
Read Stuff, You Should
Happy Birthday to Siobhan Fahey, 55.
And good stuff:
1. Scott Lemieux on the presidency.
2. Good points by Kevin Drum about Obama and Syria.
3. And Dan Larison on "isolationism." Yeah; there ain't much, at least
among politicians (not to mention foreign policy professionals).
Another ConservaDem Will Try-- And Fail-- To Win A Republican Seat In Pennsylvania
After John Murtha died, his chief of staff/in-house thug, John Hugya,
became a lobbyist and a shooting range owner. Today he is a 79 year old NRA
fanatic, stinking of Beltway corruption, who wants his old boss' seat in
Congress, PA-12. The highly-gerrymandered western Pennsylvania district
carefully skirts Pittsburgh but includes some of the northern suburbs plus
Johnstown. With blue-leaning Cambria and Lawrence counties balancing out
against red-leaning Somerset and Westmoreland counties, elections here are
decided by margins in the two biggest counties, red Allegheny and blue

"9/11/2013: Tomorrow, We Go Dark"; A Comment
*"9/11/2013: Tomorrow, We Go Dark"*
by Karl Denninger
“Tomorrow is 9/11.
On 8/21, I posted this: “On 9/11/2013 if you run an Internet site you go
dark. If you use the Internet you go dark. And whatever you were going to
buy, whatever you were going to do on 9/11/2013, you do not do on 9/10,
9/12, or at any other time. You get your friends to do it, or you decide
they're not your friends any more. You get your business associates to it,
or they're not your business associates any more.
If just 10% of the people in this nation will demand and enforce these
changes, the... more »
