President Obama and many members of Congress claim that Social Security must be cut to reduce the national deficit. Nothing can be farther from the truth! First, Social Security will run a surplus for the next 20 years. Second, Social Security is a $2.8 Trillion insurance policy prepaid by the beneficiaries and by law is not permitted contribute to the national debt. Third, the national debt is now falling on its own accord (the Congressional Budget Office projects the current fiscal year deficit to be 4.0% down sharply from 7.0% last year) ...and any further reduction of the deficit would be a drag on the economy.

It's nothing if not novel. A map of the United States based on the 2010 census with every individual from the census represented by a single dot. There are almost 308-million dots in all. Caucasian dots are blue. Blacks are green. Hispanics are orange. Asians are red. U.S. Building Largest Windfarm Ever - For Nuclear Weapons Factory
Talk about a letdown. The good news - the largest windfarm ever in the U.S., capable of generating about 12-megawatts of electricity is under construction in Texas. The not so good news - it will be used to meet the energy needs of a nuclear bomb factory. It's called the Pantex Renewable Energy Project. Pantex, however, happens to be the name of the weapons plant it will serve. Because, kids, nothing says Green quite like a warehouse full of nuclear weapons.

The world is losing trust in the dollar as a safe haven. A major blow came after Germany's Bundesbank demanded the repatriation of a big chunk of its gold being held in the US. Because as RT's Gayane Chichakyan reports, some are concerned the assets of foreign nations in the Federal Reserve are not secure or even there. The Germans were infuriated when the US Federal reserve didn't even let them examine their own assets properly. Here we have a side leaf from a collard, or maybe a broccoli or cauliflower (much alike for my purposes), from which the bits we recognize from the grocery store have been harvested. * This is my article today in Mining Week ---------- There are several proposals to amend the mining tax policy as contained in RA 7942 or the Mining Act of 1995. The dominant proposal so far is to have a 10 percent tax (7 percent on gross revenue + 3 percent on windfall income) on gross profit (ie, net of operating costs) to replace the two percent excise tax and royalties. Many years ago I was working as an 'emigration contact officer' for the Dutch government. At a time after World War II that still several skilled workers weren't satisfied with life in Holland. I had to deal with families that wandered out to Canada and Australia. A happy few succeeded, a part of the expatriates returned disillusioned.
