Miley Cyrus MTV MVA-2013
Long-time readers of this site know about my utter fascination for the
cultural enigma that is Miley Cyrus. Well, all I could say about the Pop

What was Miley Cyrus thinking?
I'd initially missed the fuss over Miley Cyrus's 'performance' with Robin
Thicke at the MTV Awards. 'Twerking' was the phrase I've seen mentioned the
most, I'd stick with embarrassing. Watching the first part of the video I
was wondering what Miley Cyrus was wearing under her bear themed romper
suit, she seems a little young to suffer from incontinence after all. The
strip at 3:03 explained that. The 'twerking' at 3:53 raises other question,
but more importantly what is up with Miley Cyrus's tongue, can't she keep
it in her mouth?
Here's some stills...

Syrian strikes sooner rather then later: Israeli intel lights the way. Iran?
I have been thinking about Syria in terms of the the situation with Iran
especially the attack that Israel so urgently wants to make against Iran.
Of course, this is also on the minds of Israeli leaders.
Would Israel take the opportunity, under cover of the strikes from the

The Mask of Wotan
by Len Hart, The Existentialist Cowboy
Jung's influence has been keenly felt among screenwriters, novelists, and
'literati' who often speak of a "character's shadow", one of several
"archetypes", a mirror image of what writers call the "higher self".
Related to Jung is the work of Russian folk tale expert, Vladimir Propp,
who thought of "archetypes" as "masks" deliberately worn by "characters".
Masks are worn in both stories and in life for one of two purposes or both:
to reveal and/or to hide.
In most cases a benign public mask is worn to hide facets of the
personality with which ... more »

The military buildup in the Mediterranean indicates that Assad’s opponents
intend to militarily intervene in Syria under cover of ‘humanitarian

truth. Pictures and videos that have surfaced following the alleged use of

If you aren't in the habit of reading the China People's Daily, you

Why Does John Kerry Make Me Think of This Guy?
Obama's secretary of state John Kerry says there exists "undeniable"
evidence of a recent chemical weapons attack in Syria. Of course he's not
actually saying it was the Assad government behind the attack. There are
plenty of Bad Actors afoot in Syria who might have been willing to do some
pretty horrific things to drag the West in against Assad. So, when it
comes to establishing *casus belli*, undeniable isn't quite the same as
conclusive.

Mad rush to gin up cruise missile attack schemes before either the use of chemical weapons is established , let alone whom might be the culprit , summons up the ghosts of Iraq WMD lies ! What truly is startling is the blithe refusal to acknlowledge the syrian rebels ( especially the foreign mercenaries / Al Qaeda / al - Nusra forces ) , have extreme motivation to stage an alleged WMD assault with UN inspectors on the ground and have shown the willingness to engage in savage acts ( executions / prior chemical weapons usage / organ eating of syrian soldier ) in the past ! Misogyny. No other word can capture the avalanche of abuse that was heaped
upon Caroline Criado-Perez, Stella Creasy, Mary Beard and other women just
under a month ago. It was frightening and disturbing. Misogyny, after all,
is one of those things official society thought was dealt with in the dim

Girls and Girl Power in the 1990s signalled women's integration into
society as equals. It was done. Women were happy working, raising families,

about the risks they take, including riding La Bestia, a freight line

Early yesterday morning, the train derailed. The stories are still

to the train for safety, and couldn’t jump during the slow-motion wreck.

(1879–1933) was born and raised in Greenland, the son of a Danish minister

Knud was 14, and he soon realized that the wild frontier was far more

At the age of 23, he eagerly returned to Greenland. His mission was to

U. S. : Forest fires and flooding
U.S. South-west has uncontrollable fires because of lack of rain and dry

It doesn't surprise. Washington operates the same way. It's longstanding

Misleading the State of Education: Zais Plays Partisan with School Praise
Superintendents of education in states across the U.S. are necessarily
political positions, either political appointments or elected offices.
Should, then, a superintendent of education visit public school districts

the weight of poverty? Of course. But in the current accountability era

Lindzen's talk at DDP meeting
*Alarming Global Warming: What Happens to Science in the Public Square*
Willie Soon sent us the newly posted video at the bottom, a 56-minute-long
talk by Richard Lindzen at the (July) 2012 DDP meeting (Long Island Hotel

that sounds silly, the talk is 1 year old, and there has already been a 2013

But the talk still looked interesting enough to me which is why I thought
it was a good idea to increase the video's visibility and you may watch it

Khamisa Sawadi, a Syrian who was married to a Saudi, breached rules barring
women from meeting with male non-relatives, a court ruled.
The two men, including Sawadi's late husband's nephew Fahd al-Anzi, were

Yes, maybe he is. There is no plausible reason that the architects of the

treason. That has to be felt out there or we will have another round of
all this in about another decade. I was never quite a fan of his, but that

We are also pushing fundamental limits I am sure so our theory that we are

Quite seriously, high speed rail links for these distances are excellent
solutions using the technology already deployed globally with serious
success. By that I mean reaching 200 miles per hour. At the same time
delivering 100 miles per hour also works well. Both systems demand modern
