Review - Chi Bar

Small Footprints at Reduce Footprints - 26 minutes ago
Do you ever crave something sweet but avoid sugary, unhealthy candy bars? Like me, you might browse the granola or energy bar selections thinking that they contain nutritious ingredients ... and then feel disappointed seeing things like hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup on the label. The few wholesome bars on the shelves often lack flavor or a pleasant texture ... I tried a sample which made me think of sawdust. [image: organic chi bar] The kind folks at Chi Foods invited me to try Chi Bars. Before agreeing, I visited their site to learn about the product. Words like U... more »

Christy Clark and the Manning Centre for Building Conservatives

In March 2012, Christy Clark gave the opening remarks to the Ottawa Manning Centre Networking Conference, the yearly "conservative family reunion". She was introduced by her then chief of staff, former senior Harper advisor, Enbridge lobbyist, and Alberta 'firewall manifesto' signatory Ken Boessenkool, who was her very first campaign manager back in 2010. "We have a duty to Canada" to easy the flow of products to Asia, she told her audience at the Manning Centre [a year ago]. "We support pipelines in British Columbia." Paul Ryan Gets A Letter From A Constituent

Hey Paul Ryan! What do you think of the $52 billion in profits to the US Treasury made by the government taking over student lending? Haven't heard you praising the outcome of a "Government Takeover." Why? Could it be that those profits would have been gravy profits to your benefactors? It sure seems to me this is an excellent example of Government gone right. I understand why this is not something you would not like to discuss. Forty-Nine to One is not Fifty-Fifty. Climate change denialists like to spread it on thick and claim there's some fierce debate over the reality of anthropogenic global warming and there are a good many disinformed, misinformed and simply delusional types who think there is no consensus and it's a toss up. That's simply garbage served up by people who manufacture garbage for people willing to consume garbage. Southern Man Rescues A Turtle

Southern Man saw this good-sized common snapping turtle (*chelydra serpentina*) trying to cross six lands of traffic... He was a beast, easily capable of taking a finger. Southern Man managed to get him by the tail and put him by the side of the road. And then Southern Man found a box and transported the beast to The Land. Here he is near the dock pilings. The Beast wasn't too happy about the move, but The Land is and always will be a turtle and snake sanctuary. He'll make a fine home down there in the bottoms by the lake.

*"What Are These Weird Street Signs Being Installed in Las Vegas?"* by Paul Joseph Watson "Strange new street signs being installed across Las Vegas are prompting suspicions from concerned readers, one of whom sent us the following images. Are these new signs part of the nationwide ‘Intellistreets’ rollout of so-called “smart” hubs that eavesdrop on conversations? “My neighbor brought it to my attention that these very suspicious-looking road signs are being installed throughout Las Vegas on the major streets,” David wrote to us. “The enormous amount of road construction th... more »

video of normal contrail and skylong chemtrail in sky TOGETHER crossing at cruising altitude

I've taken a couple pictures myself of contrails and chemtrails in the sky at cruising altitude in the same sky, sharing the frame BUT THIS IS VIDEO of such, taken by a dad in Alice Springs AU outside his daughter's school. The planes (one contrailing normally, the other chemtrailing abnormally) approach each other and then pass each other in the same region of the sky. The shorted one doesn't pass through a somehow damper/colder part of the sky and get longer. The chemtrails one doesn't diminish to a normal contrail once it's out of humid-air.

When I think of a certain line in *Gladiator*, one spoken by the late Oliver Reed, I think of the US government and the countless war profiteers it employs: "And the great whore will suckle us until* *we are fat and happy and can suckle no more." That line could've been spoken by any of the contract procurement specialists whose job it is to dispense multi-billion cost-plus, no-bid contracts like alms to the already rich and bloated. Presidential Approval Probably Isn't Stuck At Midrange

Ezra Klein poses a hypothesis I've heard a few times before at the end of a nice post earlier this week: Tucked inside Abramowitz’s take is an interesting structural prediction about American politics: As party polarization increases and the persuadable middle dwindles, scandals and gaffes will become less meaningful as they’ll only be able to convince those who want to be convinced. It’s not clear that the IRS mess, Benghazi, or the DoJ/AP issue will rise to the level of being a useful test of this thesis. But something will. It's tempting to believe that polarization is producing... more »

Harriet Sherwood (@harrietsherwood) tweeted at 6:24 AM on Thu, May 16, 2013: Brilliant story + pic - how not-so-fast food (KFC!) reaches Gaza from Egypt via tunnels in four-hour delivery service http://t.co/xHi1U58Drh (https://twitter.com/harrietsherwood/status/334902129586237440) I wonder if it has struck Ms Sherwood that Egypt is blockading Gaza? I wonder if Ms Sherwood thinks that Egypt's blockade is illegal? Maybe Ms Sherwood blames Israel for this as well. Maybe Harriet Sherwood prefers not to think about Middle East matters, it's easier for her that way.

Mommy, How Did The Tea Party Start?

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 1 day ago
If we were alive back in the 1770s, today's Tea Party activists would probably have been active back then too-- but active on behalf of the British. Conservatives fought against the revolutionaries who wanted to throw off the British imperial yoke and many conservatives would up fighting on the side of the British troops, killing patriots. Today's Tea Partiers would have been those traitors to America. How do I know? If you think teabaggers only live in backward, theocratic parts of South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Texas, you've never been to California's Inland E... more »

Sentence appeals

James C Morton at Morton's Musings - 1 day ago
R. v. Lu, 2013 ONCA 324 holds: [37] Before dealing with these submissions, it is important to recall the role of an appellate court when reviewing a sentencing decision. Appellate courts are to grant sentencing judges considerable deference when reviewing the fitness of a sentence. They are to interfere only where the sentence is demonstrably unfit, or where it reflects an error in principle, the failure to consider a relevant factor or the over-emphasis of a relevant factor. An appellate court cannot interfere with the sentence simply because it would have weighed the re... more »

Trust a Teacher. By John Stoffel

An assumption exists that teachers are against high-stakes testing because they don’t want to risk evaluation. It continues that if teachers are not evaluated by testing data, they will have no incentive to do their job well. If teachers fail to do their job, then a generation of young children faces a bleak future. What […]

U.S. PREPARED FOR WAR WITH IRAN AS ISRAEL BOMBED SYRIA

Israel bombed Syria on 2 and 5 May 2013 and the next day, as the world waited for a reaction from Syria, Hezbollah and Iran, the US began a massive war exercise in the Persian Gulf close to Iran. Since President Obama has said that the US was in ‘very close contact with Israel’, it is clear that both the Israeli raids on Syria and the US military exercise in the Gulf were planned to coincide. Unfortunately for the warmongers in the West, neither Syria, Hezbollah nor Iran took the bait. Despite this, Israel has said that it will try again to provoke its enemies warning that Israel ma... more »

The phones targeted included the general AP office numbers in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Hartford, Connecticut, and the main number for the AP in the House of Representatives press gallery. *“The IRS Wants YOU — To Share Everything”* By David Nathe, Tarini Parti and Byron Tau "The Internal Revenue Service asked tea party groups to see donor rolls. It asked for printouts of Facebook posts. And it asked what books people were reading. A POLITICO review of documents from 11 tea party and conservative groups that the IRS scrutinized in 2012 shows the agency wanted to know everything — in some cases, it even seemed curious what members were thinking. The review included interviews with groups or their representatives from Hawaii, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas and elsewhere... more »
