The SR-71, best known as the Blackbird, is one of the most legendary of U.S. military planes. Is America Hopelessly Behind in the Icebreaker Game?
*Charlie Gao* *Icebreakers, arctic* Having one heavy icebreaker shared between all polar missions in the Arctic and Antarctic is a big stretch on the U.S. Coast Guard’s fleet. *Here's What You Need to Remember: *We can see that the lower numbers of American icebreakers aren’t as serious of a strategic flaw as the numbers alone may suggest. Russia has far more missions for their icebreakers, so it needs more of them. However, the U.S. icebreaker fleet still needs increased numbers to accomplish the tasks it needs to do. But how do Korean tankers think the T-80U stacks up against the Korean tanks, which were designed with a more Western philosophy? The Importance of Fellowship and What Happens When Vaccine Passport Rules Creating Second Class Citizens are Demanded
Every word of this monologue by Neil Oliver is so true. I hope you will watch and stay with it, as it gets better as it gets deeper and more resolute. For well over a year, CTH has been outlining the critical importance of fellowship. The importance of the human connection that seems to have […] The post The Importance of Fellowship and What Happens When Vaccine Passport Rules Creating Second Class Citizens are Demanded appeared first on The Last Refuge. read more
Revenge is mine, saith the Lord...
* I've no wish to disturb the peace of Sunday, so I'll just leave this here for your perusal and pondering.* Anyone who thinks they will escape the wrath of God is in for a nasty surprise. *Deuteronomy 32:31-35* For our God is not as their gods: our enemies themselves are judges. Their vines are of the vineyard of Sodom, and of the suburbs of Gomorrha: their grapes are grapes of gall, and their clusters most bitter. Their wine is the gall of dragons, and the venom of asps, which is incurable. Are not these things stored up with me, and sealed up in my treasures? *Revenge is ... read more
Atheism Among Muslims is “Spreading Like Wildfire”
*Daniel Pipes* *Islam, Middle East* Atheism among Muslim populations was once unthinkable. But individuals are now renouncing Islam at greater rates than ever before. Ex-Muslims are publicly flaunting their rejection of Islam as never before: a steamy tell-all memoir tops the country’s best-seller lists. One video (with 1.5 million views) shows a copy of the Koran ripped into pieces; another video shows a woman in a bikini cooking and eating bacon; and blasphemous cartoons of Muhammad. Beyond such provocations, ex-Muslims work to change the image of Islam. Wafa Sultan went on Al... read more
Nuclear Dilemma: New Challenges for a New Era of Arms Control
*Peter Huessy* *Arms Control, United States* Russia’s new nuclear weapons and China’s expanding arsenal will be difficult to address in future arms control agreements. The United States’ nuclear arsenal has been shaped by six major bilateral arms control agreements with the Soviet Union and Russia that date to the Strategic Arms Limitations Talks in 1972 (SALT I). That agreement provided a cap on the number of deployed warheads and launchers. The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty agreement of 1991 (START I) marked the beginning of a significant decrease in deployed strategic nuclea... read more

COVID Madness Continues in Australia, Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews Announces Freedom Will Require Future Booster Shots

F-35A Vs. F-35B: Which Variant Is Superior?
*Charlie Gao* *F-35 Stealth Fighter, * It's hard to go wrong with either variant of this powerful stealth fighter. *Here's What You Need to Remember: *The F-35B, by comparison, is pretty much the same aircraft as the A, with just some limitations on maneuverability and weapons. It features the same top-notch sensor systems, radar, and datalink capabilities that the A brings to the table. Oftentimes, the F-35 has been colloquially referred to as one aircraft in the media, or various versions of the F-35 have been conflated with each other. However, despite their shared “program,”... read more
Twilight of Justice or Its Dawn?
(By *American Zen*'s Mike Flannigan, on loan from Ari,) *O*ne could say company picnics were bigger than yesterday's rally in DC. And, yes, we should be grateful that there wasn't the slightest shred of evidence of the historic violence that had marked and marred January 6th. In fact, one is surprised it already has its own Wikipedia page. CNN roving correspondents' & Capitol Police estimates had put the "crowd" at about 400-450. That's right, as in hundreds. High school girl's field hockey matches attract larger crowds. The press, sent on a wild goose chase, was said to have ou... read more

Chinese Weapons are Supercharging Pakistan's Military
*Charlie Gao* *Pakistan, China, Asia* Sometimes it pays to have friends. *Here's What You Need to Remember: *It is widely said that China provided significant assistance to the Pakistani nuclear weapons program (in addition to the A.Q. Khan’s espionage). China is alleged to have provided missile components, warhead designs, and even highly-enriched uranium. As Pakistan’s relationship has soured with the United States in the past two decades, Pakistan’s armed forces have largely looked towards Chinese suppliers for equipment. While China has long supplied Pakistan’s armed forces... read more
Russia Wanted Crimea, but Not Ukraine's Decrepit Warplanes
*David Axe* *Seaplane, Eurasia* As of 2019, the two Beriev Be-12 seaplanes remained in service. *Here's What You Need to Remember: *In a curious display of conviviality—especially in light of Moscow’s overt support for Ukrainian separatists fighting on the mainland—the Russians actually returned many of the planes they had captured in Crimea … including venerable Be-12 Yellow 02. The Soviet Union designed the Beriev Be-12 seaplane in the late 1950s to hunt NATO submarines. But improving enemy air defenses doomed the slow, ungainly amphibian in that role, so it switched to patrol... read more
"A Look to the Heavens"
"In this Hubble Space Telescope image the bright, spiky stars lie in the foreground toward the heroic northern constellation Perseus and well within our own Milky Way galaxy. In sharp focus beyond is UGC 2885, a giant spiral galaxy about 232 million light-years distant. Some 800,000 light-years across compared to the Milky Way's diameter of 100,000 light-years or so, it has around 1 trillion stars. That's about 10 times as many stars as the Milky Way. Part of an investigation to understand how galaxies can grow to such enormous sizes, UGC 2885 was also part of An Interesting Voyage ... read more
