Many Iraqis Believe That The Islamic State Is A Creation Of The CIA
*Suspicions Run Deep in Iraq That C.I.A. And The Islamic State Are United

BAGHDAD — The United States has conducted an escalating campaign of deadly
airstrikes against the extremists of the Islamic State for more than a
month. But that appears to have done little to tamp down the conspiracy
theories still circulating from the streets of Baghdad to the highest
levels of Iraqi government that the C.I.A. is secretly behind the same
extremists that it is now attacking.

the very least, it's nice to head into winter knowing that things are in
good working order.

Cooking in Costa Rica and Sushi Wednesdays!
I have been cooking a lot in Costa Rica and eating a lot at home. Trying
out a lot new recipes. Some good, some not.
One of my most recent favorites is falafel burgers. SO good. The recipe
makes exactly enough for Kurt and I for dinner. I make them and put them
over rice, and add some fresh guac and hot sauce to the top. The first
time I added some black beans to the rice as well, so it was kinda a mix of
a Costa Rican and Middle Eastern meal. Have made that twice, both times
super good.
Another meal I made recently I really liked was pasta with cauliflower
alfredo sauce. ... more »

So, I posted before about the scooters we got, which we are loving. This
is a good thing, since we have been without a car since August 2. While
our friend was visiting the States, we borrowed his, but since he got back,
we have been solely using the scooters.
Basically, when you move to Costa Rica and drive a car here, you have 90
days to pay the taxes on it. This is not simple though. You have to leave
the car with a customs agent who has to have someone from the government
inspect it and put a *value* on it. This is not based on USA blue book.

Lingering fighting and economic disarray have left Ukraine divided not only
between east and west, but even among patriotic Ukrainians at odds about
what to do next.
Kiev and Zaporizhia, Ukraine — One sunny afternoon in early September,
several dozen people, mostly middle-aged women, raced across Kiev’s broad
Vozdukhnoflota Avenue, just in front of Ukraine’s main military
headquarters, and sat down in a long hand-holding line to halt traffic.

will canada become a country continually at war? or, stephen harper gets his wish in iraq
I had been living in Canada but a few short months when Stephen Harper, as
leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, formed his first minority

discussion about Canadian culture and politics, and my personal

what I saw as hyperbole from certain progressive people: Harper will turn
Canada into the United States. I felt the two countries were different
enough to make that particular magic trick impossible.

warming is anthropogenic - that is, it is caused by people. The evidence
for this is overwhelming. And as temperatures and sea levels continue to

A Plan to Convert the US Dollar to Gold as Money
*Why Gold?*
All forms of money serve as a ‘medium of exchange’, and ‘unit of account’,
which is convenient and flexible compared to barter. Key Point: Note that
when a valuable commodity (such as gold) is used as money (‘monetization of
gold’), the money is worth as much as the goods or services in the
transaction. It is not just a ‘symbol’ or ‘measuring device’. This is also
true of barter, but with gold’s high value per weight and volume, etc.,
using gold is more convenient, and thus helps improve commerce.
Two more benefits of using commodity money... more »
