Breaking News: greencrow's option "None of the Above" pondered by Federal Liberal caucus
GREENCROW'S SUGGESTION FOR BALLOT REFORM - *'NONE OF THE ABOVE' ADDED TO BALLOT* - IS BEING CONSIDERED BY LIBERAL CAUCUS Greencrow proposed this option to Minister for Democratic Reform Pierre Poilievre and MP James Moore back last February, 2014. Neither of them bothered to respond to my e-mail....but it looks like the Liberals have accepted my suggestion for a change to the ballot. The Liberals have, however, framed it as a "mandatory vote"...which I don't think will fly and is a totally unnecessary march down the path to totalitarianism. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Feder... more »

The Austerity Diaries: Making Hay While the Sun Shines
Daisy Luther Over the past couple of weeks, I haven’t been around my computer much. That’s because we are working hard to live a more agrarian lifestyle. And to do that, you have to “make hay while the sun shines.” That little proverb was first recorded in 1546, in John Heywood’s “*A dialogue conteinyng the nomber in effect of all the prouerbes in the Englishe tongue”* (This is the updated version) Heywood wrote: Whan the sunne shinth make hay. Whiche is to say. Take time whan time cometh, lest time steale away. Back when Heywood wrote down that little pearl of wisdom, every Med... more »
Wall Street Admits That A Cyberattack Could Crash Our Banking System At Any Time
Michael Snyder Wall Street banks are getting hit by cyberattacks every single minute of every single day. It is a massive onslaught that is not highly publicized because the bankers do not want to alarm the public. But as you will see below, one big Wall Street bank is spending 250 million dollars a year just by themselves to combat this growing problem. The truth is that our financial system is not nearly as stable as most Americans think that it is. We have become more dependent on technology than ever before, and that comes with a potentially huge downside. An electromagnet... more »
Canada Slips From Most Developed Nation In The World To 11th Place Because Of Stephen Harper And The Conservatives .. Shame!!
*Canada has slipped out of the top 10 countries listed in the annual United Nation's human development index — a far cry from the 1990s when it held the first place for most of the decade.* *The 2013 report, which reviews a country's performance in health, education and income, places Canada in 11th place versus 10th last year.* *A closer look at the trends shows Canada actually did better than last year, but other countries such as Japan and Australia improved at a greater rate.* *When the numbers are adjusted for gender inequality, Canada slumps to 18th place. NO EVIDENCE OF RUSSIAN INVASION
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday addressed eastern Ukrainian “self-defense” forces, urging them to open a humanitarian corridor that allows surrounded Ukrainian soldiers to withdraw safely. The plea came the day after President Petro Poroshenko accused Moscow of invading his country, and only hours after US President Barack Obama placed the responsibility for the crisis squarely on Russia. RT’s Manila Chan and Paula Slier have the latest on the quickly moving situation.
Practical Guide to Protesting in a Police State
*How to stay safe when exercising your rights.* Dees Illustration Stefan Verstappen If you’re planning on participating in a peaceful demonstration or protest, keep one thing in mind: at any time it could turn into a bloody riot. In the past it has been a common practice for governments to send provocateurs to mingle among the demonstrators until a given time or signal, and then to begin instigating violence as both a way to demonize the peaceful protesters in the media, and as an excuse to send in the riot troops to bust heads. As demonstrations around the world can attest to,... more »

ACLU sues feds to ensure illegal aliens receive legal services
The ACLU, one of the leading organizations working to erode and ultimately end American sovereignty in the United States today, recently sued the federal government on behalf of several illegal alien invaders in order to force the Border Patrol and Customs officials to provide special treatment to these criminals. Unsurprisingly, they won the case. Rather than simply immediately deporting any and all individuals - be they children or adults - caught illegally entering the United States, the feds are now essentially being *forced* to provide legal services and other state benefits to... more »
Is There A Democrat In Congress More Corrupt Than Debbie Wasserman Schultz?
This morning I got my daily "give me your money" e-mail from one of America's most corrupt politicians, Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). The subject line was "Petition: Clean Up Campaign Finance" and instead of deleting it unopened like I do with 90% of her spam, I opened it to examine the latest hypocrisy from the sleazy New Dem trying to accumulate as much money as she can in a push to bribe fellow Democratic House members to make her party leader when Pelosi retires or when Pelosi and Hoyer retire. States With Pro-Employee Laws: No At-Will Employment Equals Fewer Employee Suits
(Or, States That Don't Suck For Employees, Part II)I was doing some research for this series on pro-employee state laws and ran across a piece by that bastion of liberalism, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce rating states either Good, Fair or Poor for employers. It's been a fantastic source of information for my upcoming pieces in this series, since all I have to do is look for the "Poor" rated states to find a rant about their pro-employee laws. What I found most interesting, though, was what they wrote about Montana. Montana is notable as the only state in the nation that requires just... more »

Raytheon AI3 missile intercepts first cruise missile target
[image: AI3 missile]Raytheon Company and the U.S. Army achieved the first intercept of a cruise missile by the Accelerated Improved Intercept Initiative missile. An AI3 missile also destroyed an unmanned aerial system (UAS). Both intercepts occurred during the recent Black Dart demonstration – a U.S. military exercise held July 29 - August 11. Fired from the Avenger launcher, AI3 missiles intercepted both targets at low altitude over water and in a high-clutter marine environment – capabilities made possible by upgrades to the missile's semi-active seeker and radar. Watch "Dr. Husam Zomlot: Israel 'fabricated' beheading and Holocaust
Dr. Husam Zomlot is not your average Palestinian, he's a senior Fatah official, a Scholar in Residence at Harvard, a Middle East Consultant to the Oxford Research Group and a former Palestinian representative to UK. This is Holocaust denial from the top of Fatah PLO and thus something that will never see the light of day on the institutionally anti-Israel and pro-Palestinians BBC. Here is how the BBC treat Dr Zomlot, with kid-gloves compared to how they treat Israeli interviewees.
Joan Rivers, 81, is in 'critical condition after she stopped breathing during throat surgery'
I hear that Joan Rivers is in a critical condition at a New York hospital after she stopped breathing during surgery on her throat. This is according to NYPD sources via TMZ. The 81-year-old was having surgery on her vocal chords at a clinic in Manhattan when she apparently suddenly stopped breathing during the procedure. She was rushed to Mount Sinai hospital, where doctors are believed to be trying to save her life. A funny lady and great supporter of Israel. Be strong Ms Rivers.

What Does Fate Have In Store For Marco Rubio?
2016 is probably not going to be a good year for former Tea Party darling Marco Rubio. He's never faced a well-armed Democrat before and slipped into the Senate with less than half the votes cast. In 2010, the Democrats had put up a token candidate-- Kendrick Meek-- to help turn out African-American voters in their failed attempt to win the gubernatorial race with another weak candidate, Alex Sink and Meek, a puppet of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, came in a distant third, behind "Independent-Republican" Charlie Crist. In 2016, Rubio will probably face the most politically astute and ... more »
August 28: TandT misses story of the year! August 27 was my birthday.
Otherwise, it was a very ordinary day for the Irving press. Section A had nothing in it. Typical was a front page story that Moncton returning offices are ready for early-bird voters. Well, yeah. They're supposed to be. It they aren't, then that's a story. But if they are ready, what's the story? World news amounted to two and a half pages.- and half of it Canadian. But at least the world seemed to be headed for better times with peace initiatives in the Middle East and in Ukraine. (More on that later.) The only jarring note came on C10, when Harper blustered about dealing with any...more »
Are You Brushing Your Teeth with a Carcinogenic Endocrine Disruptor?
Melissa Melton Some very damning evidence has come forward that the ingredient triclosan, originally registered as a pesticide but used in more modern times in a wide array of hygiene products, is an endocrine disruptor that may also cause other health issues like cancer, thyroid dysfunction, and infertility just to name a few. Now that this has come to light, Colgate still refuses to remove the compound from its number one best-selling toothpaste, Total. After all, the company spent $38 million dollars and ten years getting it approved. In fact, Colgate continues to laud its FDA...more »
Mind Control Scientists Turn Off Emotional Link to Memories
Nicholas West It is becoming increasingly clear that advancements in genetics and neuroscience are leading toward direct methods of mind control. An array of hi-tech methods have been announced - magnetic manipulation via "neural dust," high-powered lasers, and using light beamed from outside the skull. As a result, scientists are making bold claims that they can alter the brain even to the extent of turning off consciousness altogether. But it is memory research that might be among the most troubling. As I've previously stated in other articles, our memories help us form our id... more »
Russia Is Invading Ukraine Right Now
*Let's Be Clear About This: Russia Is Invading Ukraine Right Now -- Max Fisher, VOX* There are two things happening between Ukraine and Russia right now. First, Russian and Ukrainian leaders are meeting in Belarus to negotiate a peace deal in the Ukrainian conflict that Russia insists it has nothing to do with. Second, Russian military forces are crossing the border into Ukraine in what is clearly a hostile invasion and act of war. That includes Russian artillery, Russian tanks, Russian-trained irregular forces, and even uniformed Russian soldiers who have admitted on camera that ... more »

Is America Becoming a Third World Country?
Anthony Freda Art Ted Baumann I often ask myself: “Is America becoming a Third World country?” I’ve traveled all over the world and seen the ins and outs of developed and undeveloped nations, observing economic and political structures that work and many that don’t. And what I too often see in the Third World — it’s that fair and equal treatment under the law often goes amiss. And it’s what’s lying beneath the surface in American politics — the nefarious deals made between corporations and the politicians that are supposed to keep them in check — that makes me think the Third Wo... more »
Getting Inside the Mind of Mainstream Media
Bernie Suarez Mainstream media's lies, deceit, and propaganda are being dramatically exposed in real-time at an alarming rate. Anyone following alternative media knows what I'm talking about. Is it me or does it seem like the MH17 false flag happened years ago? We can see that false flags which are quickly exposed and blown wide open end up dropping to the bottom of mainstream media news. We're seeing the pattern over and over again, so isn't it time we sharpen our skills and start predicting the mainstream media lies and propaganda before it happens? For those of us fully awaken... more »
The Time Is Ripe For A False-Flag Attack On American Soil
Brandon Smith Government engineered false-flag terrorism is a historically established fact. For centuries, political and financial elites have been sinking ships, setting buildings on fire, assassinating diplomats, overthrowing elected leaders, and blowing people up, then blaming these disasters on convenient scapegoats so that they can induce fear in the public and transfer more power to themselves. Skeptics might argue whether certain calamities have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be false-flag events, but no one can argue that such tactics have not been used by the ... more »

My Analysis And Commentary On The Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
My worst fears are now being realized. Since the beginning of the revolution in Ukraine .... starting with the overthrow of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych .... I have always stated in this blog that my worst fears was a situation in which Ukrainian nationalists would impose an environment that would make the Russian dominated eastern part of the country rise in a revolt that would culminate into a civil war and a Russian intervention. Sadly .... 6 months later .... this is exactly what is happening today. The situation in eastern Ukraine is now one of anarchy, indisc... more »
A Positive Response
Here's a nice little essay from "Common Dreams" - "It's Time for a Post-Piketty Vision of Shared Wealth." It praises Thomas Piketty for exposing the lie of neo-liberalism, that reduced inequality is a natural result of "free-market" industrial capitalism, and for showing how it is politics that reducing inequality, not markets. Far from creating ‘a rising tide that lifts all boats’, however, Piketty’s update of the Kuznets curve shows that a capitalist economy driven by market forces was not the reason behind the reduction in inequality in the post-war period. Rather, this was due t... more »

Understanding Piketty, part 4
We now come to the exciting conclusion of Thomas Piketty's monumental work, *Capital in the Twenty-First Century*. This is not an exaggeration: the final part of the book contains findings that I consider to be simply bombshells in their significance. In Part 4, "Regulating Capital in the Twenty-First Century," Piketty calls for a new "social state" for the new century, as well as a new way of taxing, a progressive tax on capital. Highlighting the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Sweden as representative, he shows that all followed similar trends in taxation. Until Wor... more »

The Monopoly of the Government Education Cartel
James Hall Learning is a noble pursuit, but the ancient Greek text is one of the few places where the Socratic Method survives. Sanctioned political doctrine of required thinking is the mainstay in today’s august temples of purification. Forget about a classroom, the curriculum core of New Age studies has no room for the classics, much less instructions into the process of thinking itself. Except, of course for the need to electronically check off the loan applications and assign grants to the business office. In the end, university is big business and developing intelligent gradu... more »

Russian Media Is Slowly Starting To Report That Russia Has Invaded Ukraine
The story has been missing from the front pages of Russian papers but is prominent in Ukrainian publications. *Russian Media Report 'Invasion Of Ukraine' -- BBC* Reports that Russian troops are intervening directly in the fighting in south-east Ukraine have started to appear in Russian media, despite repeated denials from the Kremlin. Newspapers and websites are quoting mainly Ukrainian and Western media reports about a Russian invasion, but some have also started to ask whether Moscow is now "fighting a war". Many Russian social media users, however, say they have no doubt that ... more »

METAPHORS AND FACTS: From Nerdland, professor responds to Klein!
*THURSDAY, AUGUST 28, 2014Part 4—The quality of our discourse:* We wouldn’t have written Joe Klein’s piece ourselves. In fact, we *didn’t* write it. That said, it isn’t gigantically hard to see what Klein was saying. For background, see yesterday's post. We’d say that Klein made two different points. Given the way our discourse works, that’s often one too many. We’d say that Klein made these two claims. We’re paraphrasing: *Joe Klein’s two points (paraphrased):* 1) The story of Michael Brown’s death is more complex than it seemed at first. 2) There are cultural problems in black A... more »
