Well as far back as the early 90's the NIH had published studies about finding equine luteinizing hormone and equine gonadotropin in production chicken. They regulate the sexual development, used to speed up maturation. The studies indicated that the accumulatory factors of these substances in the food chain may be an indicator of a transgenesis mechanisms for extraspecies disease transfer not to mention early onset pubescent development in humans. Monsanto and Dow and Conagra also have had leaked internal documents that indicate that their own researchers had concerns about intercellular transfer of their modified genetic material causing various genetic abnormality in test animals, increased obesity, lower brain functions, diabetes. The materal is out there if you look for it. I want to present a recent article by John Kaminski (www.therebel.org) that was also picked up and posted by John Montecristo, who writes for Lasha Darkmoon's blog, Darkmoon, at www.darkmoon.me, here for all of my own readers to view for themselves. It is entitled: "When Lies Are Legal, The Truth Is A Crime", and is a definite must read by everyone, especially now when we are watching the downfall of the once great United States of America happen right before our very eyes... Here is that article, and I do have some of my own thoughts and comments to follow: When Lies are Legal, t... more »

Sunday Classics chronicles preview: Remembering Charles Rosen (1927-2012)
*Cézanne's "Pierrot and Harlequin" (1888)* *SCHUMANN: Carnaval, Op. 9:* *2. Pierrot*: Moderato (2/4) *3. Arlequin*: Vivo (3/4) 2. "Pierrot" (Moderato) is a revolutionary work of pure instrumental music in its use of the grotesque. It is a character piece: relentless, deliberately monotonous, but with sudden jerky movements like the personage of the *commedia dell'arte*; it makes no pretensions to beauty or charm. The drama arises from the cumulative crescendo towards the end with a final and very original pedal effect, as the penultimate chord gradually frees itself of all the heav... more »
Adolfo Nicolás: "The globalization of superficiality"
"The world is becoming very superficial. We have more information than ever, but less ability to think, to reflect, to digest that information. So there is a globalization of superficiality. . . And even if the first news are totally biased or prejudicial, that's what sticks in the mind. And we don't have the ability to confirm, to study, to see whether this is true or whether this is balanced." - Adolfo Nicolás, the thirtieth and current Superior General of the Society of Jesus. What he says is very true. Blame television and the mass media for this catastrophic situation. The "mai... more »
Elizabeth Warren goes back to Washington
The talk of the toobz today was about Elizabeth Warren kicking the SEC's ass at her first Senate Banking Committee hearing. She politely asked why no banksters had been brought to trial. This apparently unexpected inquiry left the SEC flailing, and failing, to come up with an adequate answer. Our intrepid Senator Warren then proceeded to explain in great detail why the failure to meaningfully prosecute the banksters was not a particulary effective deterrent to criminal manipulation of the financial markets. And her sidebar on the double standards of the justice system was a thing o... more »
Canada Gets New Flag - February 15th, 1965
*Here's your political history lesson for the day: * "From the Tory benches the prime minister (Pearson) was greeted by jeers and hoots and shouts of derision. 'Vote with pride', "All right," exclaimed Mr. Pearson, "they have turned it down with jeers and insults, but we will vote with pride." Shouts, screams, desk-banging - even obscene gestures - marked the final phase of the Conservative fight against the red Maple Leaf Flag. Introduced in senate today, and even with the last vote they declared that they would not quit and that the fight would go on in the senate, where a simi... more »

Most of us feel a little crazy from time to time. Periods of high stress can make us feel like we’re losing it, as can being surrounded by people whose values are very different from our own. Losing a significant relationship and moving into a new life situation are other events that can cause us to feel off kilter. President Obama said “that his signature education program, Race to the Top, was 'a competition that convinced almost every state to develop smarter curricula and higher standards, for about 1 percent of what we spend on education each year.' I am not sure why Obama felt entitled to brag. Race to the Top has been in place for four years now and its major impact seems to be the constant testing of students, high profits for testing companies such as Pearson, and questionable reevaluations of teachers. It is unclear to me what positive changes Race to the Top has actually achieved.” ... more »

INSIDE THE PIRATE STORY
Stolen Seas presents a chilling exploration of the Somali pirate phenomenon and forces you to rethink everything you thought you knew about pirates. With first hand accounts from leading experts on the subject refuting the common misconceptions, Stolen Seas explores theories of what drives a country to piracy, from every point of view. It is a film about a country on the brink, at the mercy of global capitalism in overdrive, and young boys with nothing to loose. Book Review: The Girl of Fire and Thorns
I have most YA books figured out by the second chapter. I can tell you who the heroine is going to end up with and how. There is a pattern to most of these books and it isn't too hard to figure out. Two chapters into A Girl With Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson, I told my husband exactly how it was going to end. I have never been more wrong about a book ending. It took twists and turns that I had never thought of, relying less on a romantic element and more on the strength of the heroine. Elisa is a 16-year-old princess and the story opens on her wedding day. The first time she sees ... more »
New Studies Confirm Conservatives are Fear-Driven
Sideshow Steve Harper understands the power of fear to distract and manipulate his supporters. He conjures up images of threats and dangers and watches his Conservative flock recoil in shock and terror. Two new* *studies confirm the brain differences between conservative and liberal minds. *First, in the American Journal of Political Science, a team of researchers including Peter Hatemi of Penn State and Rose McDermott of Brown University studied the relationship between our deep-seated tendencies to experience fear—tendencies which vary from person to person, partly for reason... more »

Republican Armageddon-- 2016
In the *National Journal* Ron Fournier reported on interviews he's done recently with Republican Party leaders and operatives who are worried that their party is going to split in two. It would make sense because the Republican Party has always been two distinct, often mutually hostile, entities with little holding them together beyond a thirst for power. On the one hand we have the long-dominant and traditional Greed and Selfishness wing of the party. And on the other, the foot soldiers from the Fox-brainwashed masses, the Hatred and Bigotry wing. The Greed and Selfishness wing ca... more »

Changes in Arctic and Antarctic Ice Area Do Not Affect the Global Mean Temperature
Steven Goddard has a post stating that changes in the Antarctic sea ice area affect the shortwave (SW) radiation reaching the surface from the Sun, thus suggesting that could contribute to global warming or cooling. This of course assumes that the atmosphere is warmed, at least partially, by heat from the solar-warmed surface; virtually all scientists today believe this. The following is my response: *In my seminal Venus/Earth temperatures comparison, that temperature ratio is a constant--at points of equal pressure in the two atmospheres, and over the range of Earth tropospheric pr... more »

*"Meteor Streaks Across Russian Urals, Leaves Nearly 1000 Injured"* By Jim Heintz and Vladimir Isachenkov MOSCOW — "A meteor streaked across the sky and exploded over Russia's Ural Mountains with the power of an atomic bomb Friday, its sonic blasts shattering countless windows and injuring nearly 1,000 people. 3C, Maybe. 5C, Possibly.
The British scientist who formerly chaired the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says we've pretty much lost any chance of holding climate heating to 2C and now have just a 50/50 chance of staying within 3C. *The scientist, Professor Sir Robert Watson, chaired the Panel from 1997 until 2002, when he was ousted after US pressure for his removal.* * * *Professor Watson says there is a 50-50 chance of preventing global average temperatures rising more than 3°C above their level at the start of the industrial age, but a 5°C rise is possible. Wireless power charging update
*What is Wireless Charging Technology?* Most of us have already experienced the wireless technology. The best example of this technology would be the radio or the mobile phone. Like the radio station transmits the songs in the form of radio waves and the receiver decodes it before we listen to the song. In other words i can say that the power is transmitted from one end without wires in the form of radio waves using electromagnetic radiation and the other end receives this signal, decodes it and uses it. So why cant we use this technology for charging the cellphone or an ipod? An... more »
Let us Speak of Sand Dunes and Water
I've been saying recently that trying to make an impact on the internet is like pouring water (or, if you have something extraordinary to offer the world, ambergris) into a sand dune. Gwynne Dyer points out that *Roman Catholic* is more than just a name. *How Roman are the traditions and instincts of the church that Pope Benedict XVI has led for the past seven years? Well, one of his titles is “pontifex maximus”, usually translated from the Latin as “Supreme Pontiff”.* *That was the title of the high priest of the old Roman (pagan) state religion under the Republic. When Rome became an empire, the emperors took it over, starting with Augustus. You Have The Right To Discuss Salary With Coworkers
Many people who are trying to figure out whether they've been the victim of discrimination miss an obvious way to find out how much coworkers are making: asking them. Some employers try to prevent this by putting in handbooks or contracts a provision prohibiting salary discussions among coworkers. Those employers are, for the most part, breaking the law. If you work for a non-government employer and aren't a supervisor or management, you likely have the absolute right to discuss your salary, benefits and other working conditions with your coworkers. My campaign to get the BBC to acknowledge that Gaza has a land border with Egypt as well as Israel and therefore if Israel is blockading Gaza, so is Egypt has had the occasional victory. The most satisfying being detailed here. The BBC's continued pushing of the narrative that Israel is blockading Gaza, that Israel controls entry to and exit from Gaza when in fact there is a long land border between Gaza and Egypt, means that such stories as the following are usually not reported on the BBC. The Dreyfus Affair Of Our Age | Standpoint
Fascinating article... 'Just as the enemies of Dreyfus anticipated fascism, the left-wing intellectuals who went for Rushdie in 1989 anticipated a future when many on the Left would be happy to go along with reactionary and obscurantist forces as long as they were anti-Western. Had it not been for Khomeini's incitements to murder in 1989, wrote the constantly shallow and occasionally sinisterIndependent columnist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown in 1994, "the world would be hurtling, unchallenged, towards the inalienable right to wear blue jeans and eat McDonald's hamburgers". Many on the Left... more »
HITLER'S PHILOSOPHER - MARTIN HEIDEGGER
*Martin Heidegger* The German philosopher Martin Heidegger supported the Nazis. According to heidegger: "the Führer himself and alone is the German reality, present and future, and its law." Denis Dutton on Walter Kaufmann and Martin Heidegger... Someone asked Heidegger how he could allow a man as ''uncultivated'' as Hitler to rule Germany. Heidegger merely replied: ''Culture doesn't matter. Just look at his marvelous hands.'' When Smart People Get Dumb Ideas... Heidegger had a number of Jewish philosophers among his fans. Heidegger's work strongly influenced Leo Strauss, wh... more »
Apple: Brazilian iPhone Vrademark Verdict
*Brazilian regulators have ruled that Apple does not have private rights to use the iPhone trademark in the country.* Still though the US tech giant has previously lodged an appeal against the decision with the Brazilian regulators. The ruling is the result of a local group, Gradiente Eletronica, registering the name in 2000, seven years before the US firm. Apple can persist to sell iPhone-branded handsets in Brazil. But the conclusion means that Gradiente has a choice of suing for exclusivity in South America's biggest market. The Institute of Industrial Property supposed that ... more »

dream song - waiting for the music of your love
*shorter neck, longer beak*I can't work out whether this is a 'private message' meant for just ME (about Determination) or a 'public message' intended for THE WIDER PUBLIC (about Custodianism), from the birds. When I was a young lad, I lived in several towerblock locations in Nottingham; this is where this morning's dream seems to be set. An amalgam of those sorts of hi-rise locations, and it's not the first time either. I'm younger, I think, in the dream. I'm looking out of the living room window, in that type of building, that'd be the back of the building, overlooking the commun...more »
SSC Naples - Viktoria Pilsen
The soccer team in my hometown, FC Viktoria Pilsen (web), has already brought some quality moments to its fans in Pilsen, in Czechia, and beyond. After decades in which it struggled on the boundary of the top Czech league and the next-to-top league, the team (now led by the new stellar coach, Mr Pavel Vrba) won the top Czech league two years ago (it was second on the following year) and showed the best Czech team results ever in the super prestigious UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. A year ago, they once played 2-2 against AC Milan, defeated Atlético Madrid two m... more »
Iain Dale - a sensitive soul
Yesterday I posted this light-hearted post about Iain Dale's Talk Radio Top Totty List 2013. So I was surprised to receive two comments from Iain Dale which were singularly lacking in humour. They and my response follow: [image: Blogger] Iain Dale said... It was a bit of fun. And how was it slightly sexist, pray tell?! 14 February 2013 19:33 [image: Delete][image: Blogger] Iain Dale said...How was it slightly sexist? 14 February 2013 19:34 [image: Delete][image: Blogger] Not a sheep said...Really Iain? Comet of the Century
This comet appears very promising and we are long over due for a spectacular event. The comment here is that the tail is formed from complex molecules. That is the accepted explanation. It is my conjecture that the bulk of the dust is in the form of elemental carbon which naturally charges up as it passes through the solar flux. That acquired charge naturally produces a huge halo. This one is in the high end of probability so sit back for a neat ride. It is too bad we cannot get something up there to intercept it and recover samples. In the meantime it is time to put i... more »
Reconciliation Between Arabs and Israelis
Over and over again it is the boots on the ground who find real answers to the big problems that thwart general political solution. The initiative described here needs to be promoted and encouraged as it is obvious that people of good will can solve the practical aspects of living check and jowl. The general solution is painful expulsion. The local solution is simple face to face cooperation. It should also be obvious now that the Palestinian cause is of no interest today to the Arabs who have turned inward to concentrate on political reform and modernization. The Arab S... more »
EU Urges Two-year Ban on 'Disturbing' Bee Insecticides
Here we are, a decade into the colony collapse disease syndrome in which these new pesticides are clearly indicated and are in fact the only new factor plausibly introduced and the lobby keeps grinding. This is one of those situations were it is proper to halt usage and demand compelling evidence for renewal before the ban is lifted. Of course it is not fair. How about putting up a billion dollar plus bond to cover damages while it is all sorted out? This is serious as are other plausible pesticide related environmental issues such as amphibian decline. In the mean...more »
How Salt Halts Plant Growth
Thus gives us an actual understanding of just how the root goes dormant and points us toward actively managing it. As it is also plausible that biochar dressing locks up the unwanted salt ions, it is possible that it will be possible to reclaim irrigation wreaked soils with a combination of protocols. Ideally one such protocol can actually collect the toxic salt. Here we are beginning to see the road map. As posted before, biochar allows direct sequestration but does not remove. That may well be good enough but likely troublesome as the ions will still alter surroundin... more »
7 Natural Brain Foods for Cognition and Concentration By Mike Barrett
7 Natural Brain Foods for Cognition and Concentration By Mike Barrett Natural Society, 14 February 2013 *If you have ever had problems concentrating, you know how extremely frustrating it is to get anything done. As we age, it seems to be more and more difficult to keep our thoughts collected or even remember where we put our keys. This may be a part of the aging process to some degree, but diet and lifestyle certainly has a lot to do with it as well. Luckily, there are several brain foods that you can include in your daily diet to boost cognitive function, boost concentration, ... more »

Greetings from the Great State of Canaveral
Neil Freeman (@fitnr), of *Fake Is The New Real* redrew the map of the U.S.so that each state will have roughly 6.175 million people (h/t *TPM*). "The fundamental problem of the electoral college," Freeman wrote, "is that the states of the United States are too disparate in size and influence. The largest state is 66 times as populous as the smallest and has 18 times as many electoral votes. This allows for Electoral College results that don't match the popular vote." Can we all just agree to adopt this and move on?
THE BEN ZYGIER AFFAIR: THE PLOT THICKENS
The latest rumblings about the Zygier affair comes from Israeli news outlet *Ha’aretz* who report that Zygier may have been imprisoned because he was about to ‘spill the beans’ about Mossad’s misuse of Australian passports in various Mossad operations, including the one that murdered Hamas leader Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh in Dubai on 19 January 2010. The problem with this line of supposition is that ‘the beans had already been spilt’ by ex-Mossad officer Victor Ostrovsky certainly by February 2010. While Zygier may well have threatened to elaborate on the Al-Mabhouh assassination, it seems ... more »
Just Lock Up All The Kids…
by Suzanne Turner Consider this: • The U.S. has more children in custody than any other developed country. • The number of juveniles incarcerated as adults has increased by more than half over the last decade. Two years ago then-12-year-old Cristian Fernandez was charged as an adultin the death of his younger brother, David Galarraga. He faced a mandatory sentence of of life-without-parole. On Friday, Cristian accepted a plea bargain that allowed him to serve six years in a juvenile facility. But not all children are so lucky. Valentine's Day (The Death of True Love)
I detest cheap sentiment. — Margo Channing (Bette Davis) in All About Eve Ever since I found out in 6th grade that Valentine's Day was largely invented by a greeting card company, I've thought it was complete bullshit, because, well, it is. I mean, Kwanzaa is invented too, and its critics have some good points, but at least it's about honoring your ancestors and stuff. Valentine's Day is
