BP's Corexit Oil Tar Sponged Up by Human Skin

The Corexit that BP used to "disperse" the oil now appears to be making it tougher for microbes to digest the oil. ...the toxins in this unholy mix of Corexit and crude actually penetrate wet skin faster than dry skin—the author describes it as the equivalent of a built-in accelerant—though you'd never know it unless you happened to look under fluorescent light in the 370nm spectrum. The stuff can't be wiped off. It's absorbed into the skin.

  1. The use of Corexit is inhibiting the microbial degradation of hydrocarbons in the crude oil and has enabled concentrations of the organic pollutants known as PAHto stay above levels considered carcinogenic by the NIHand OSHA.
  2. 26 of 32 sampling sites in Florida and Alabama had PAH concentrations exceeding safe limits.
  3. Carcinogenic PAH compounds from the toxic tar are concentrating in surface layers of the beach and from there leaching into lower layers of beach sediment. This could potentially lead to contamination of groundwater sources.
  4. The full Surfrider Foundation report by James H. "Rip" Kirby III, of the University of South Florida is open-access online here.

For those who say the seafood from the Gulf is safe - not so fast...
Though these may be anomalies, this may be evidence of the damage of either these creatures eating oil or Corexit soaked or permeated smaller creatures, or due to the effects of Corexit on these individuals in their earliest stages, or of the damage done to their parents or grandparents.
These individuals & others like them may not have been able to reproduce, if all their systems were damaged, so if the ongoing pollution can be mitigated, sea life may return to a fairly normal balance one day.  http://www.aljazeera.com/indep...

We are seeing the results of the BP Oil spill in the fish that have to live every second of their lives in the water that BP spoiled. The fish and mammals health is proof that something is wrong in the Gulf of Mexico caused by the BP Oil spill. Also there is proof in our weather that shows that something is wrong in the Gulf caused by the BP oil spill. Since the spill we haven't had any hurricanes or major storms in the Gulf. Look at the cloud formations since the time of the spill. You will notice abnormal cloud formations over the Gulf when there use to be massive amounts of cloud formation and rain. Texas and other areas have been experiencing droughts since the BP Oil spill. As I predicted on my web page www.mybetteramericaplan.com when the spill happened that there wouldn't be any hurricanes in the Gulf for the last two years I regret to tell you that this abnormal weather condition in the Gulf is going to continue this year with only a slight improvement. Again this year there will be no hurricanes or major storms in the Gulf and only mild rain storms every so often. We need rain in the Gulf to help bring new water to the Gulf to help dilute this mess that BP oil has created. I have talked to scuba divers who have been in the Gulf and they say that there is oil on the bottom of the Gulf where they were. We have to get BP Oil to get back to the Gulf with underwater vacuums that are capable of sucking up oil to finish cleaning up the mess that they have made. Don't buy BP gas until that company finishes the clean up job that they should of done. Tell ALL about the boycott of BP OIL.

I live just East of Destin. During the oil spill I was in Pensacola many a time. It was truly horrific to see what was going on. The people that were hired to clean up the oil on the sand were not given any protection, most of the time they were told not to clean, and then at night they would bury the oil under imported sand. there were many groups trying to get word out, but the public down here were/are in complete denial. I got sick about 3 months into the spill and since I had diffuse symptoms , no Dr. could figure out what was wrong with me, after much research I am convinced it was due to the spill. more specifically, the corexit. They denied spraying in Fl. waters, but were observed spraying at night, some people were even sprayed on their boats. The cleanup crews were forbidden to talk to the media and if the media tried to talk to anyone, they were threatened with arrest. Those that were documenting independently showed how if you just went down 8 inches in the sand you would find oil and tar, they completely covered up everything, even the epa that I called denied there was anything to worry about healthwise. Even Joe Scarborough, on Msnbc, an ex rep from Pensacola, denies anything amiss in Pensacola or the gulf coast for that matter, his own home and he is in a position to enlighten the world, but denies any problems from the spill. If the people here are in denial and want to believe everything is honky dorey, what hope do we have to make things right? for BP to make things right?

Are you people not surfing the net ? Florida Oil Spill Law started the ball rolling with collected news. Dr. Riki Ott is a survivor of the Exxon Valdex corexit mess - which killed workers and was much smaller. It didn't 'heal.' Radioactive crude is what spewed from 35,050' down : mixed with corexit it is 52x as toxic as crude to rotifers at the base of the food chain. Stewart H. THE DISASTER IN THE GULF OF MEXICO IS STILL GOING ON!
Despite what you?ve heard in the media, the disaster in the Gulf is not over. Not even close.

Over the past few weeks, new, fresh oil has been documented through photos, video, and subsequently confirmed with lab tests to be coming from theDeepwater Horizon well.

On June 6, 2010, Thad Allen KNEW what the use of Corexit would mean in breaking down the oil, and making it impossible to contain, control, or clean-up: "U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen talks about the latest efforts to contain the gulf oil spill Sunday on CBS's "Face The Nation." "The problem we have is it's not a large monolithic spill anymore. It's an aggregation of thousands of spills that can come ashore at any particular time based on wind and currents."
While fishermen and families and businesses starve... only 5% of claims have been paid as of September 7, 2012. http://keywest.legalexaminer.com/toxic-substances/bp-settlement-offers-made-in-5-of-claims.aspx?googleid=304134

"Just as BP attempted to have the public, Congress and others focus only on what happened on the rig or in other offshore offices of its contractors, the BP engineers and executives who drafted these and other documents were the people who actually exercised the direct authority and control over nearly every aspect of what ultimately went wrong with the rig on April 20th. The behavior, words and actions of these BP executives would not be tolerated in a middling sized company manufacturing dry goods for sale in a suburban mall. Yet they were condoned in a corporation engaged in an activity in which no less a witness than Tony Hayward (the former CEO) himself described comparable to exploring outer space." -- US Justice Department *

It's that difficult. And a good reason why one should expect 'accidents' that are inevitable consequences of going beyond known limits of engineering capability. The pressure differential between ocean water and ocean bottom is a function of density : roughly 2 - 1 = 1 leaving the acceleration of a mass of water 5 miles high as a  theoretical vertical vector differential driving blowouts when drilling 6 miles down into a sea floor one mile down ...and excluding complications of methane deposits and high pressure pockets. That's a towering column of 8 km of seawater which is denser than fresh pushing blowout and sea floor or pipe rupture.
