10:17 pm MSTDreamliner probe widens after excess battery voltage ruled out
Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 4 minutes ago
U.S. safety investigators on Sunday ruled out excess voltage as the cause
of a battery fire this month on a Boeing Co 787 Dreamliner jet operated by
Japan Airlines Co (JAL) and said they were expanding the probe to look at
the battery's charger and the jet's auxiliary power unit.
Last week, governments across the world grounded the Dreamliner while
Boeing halted deliveries after a problem with a lithium-ion battery on a
second 787 plane, flown by All Nippon Airways Co (ANA), forced the aircraft
to make an emergency landing in western Japan.

Niger ambassador to Belgium Issaka Djibo and wife found dead
Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 5 minutes ago
NIGER'S ambassador to Belgium and his wife have been found dead at their
residence, apparently the victims of carbon monoxide poisoning, the embassy
says.
The bodies of Issaka Djibo, 61, and his wife, Fatouma, 50, were found in
their bedroom by their daughter, alerted by an embassy employee who had not
heard from the ambassador.
Initial findings suggested the couple died from carbon monoxide poisoning
due to a faulty heater, the Belga news agency cited police as saying.

As a small time entrepreneur in San Francisco with my own indie record

responsibilities to our artists and creditors and building the company.
Money goes *into* small business startups, not out of them. For years my

GOP plays politics with public safety - Part One
Libby Spencer at The Impolitic - 6 hours ago

Employing the classic Republican projection tactic, GOP Sen. Ted Cruz
accused President Obama of playing politics with gun safety reforms. In the
world according to NRA beholden Republicans, our President and all citizens
concerned with the overly easy availability of firearms are hypocrites. And
by the way he didn't see anything at all odious about the NRA's hideous
pro-gun ad which was definitely *not* about the President's daughters. Pay

Preparing Richardson Bay for rising sea levels – ‘There are two reactions to dealing with sea level rise: there is fight and there is flight’

(San Francisco Chronicle) – On a sunny Friday afternoon last fall, a Grand
Banks trawler idled at the mouth of Richardson Bay, giving those aboard a
close look at a battleground in the fight against climate change.
The lobster claw-shaped estuary defines and occasionally redefines the
southeastern edge of Marin County, a shoreline area dotted with expensive
homes, shops and restaurants. During the king tides near the turn of the

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is hoping for a victory for her CDU party
in Lower Saxony.
She has been in the region to show her support for David McAllister, who is

Ford and BMW warn against UK exit from EU as David Cameron readies historic speech
Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 19 hours ago
David Cameron was expected to deliver one of the most keenly awaited
political speeches in recent years on Friday, but it was cancelled because
of the Algerian hostage crisis. However, excerpts show that the
Conservative leader is prepared to raise the prospect of Britain leaving
the EU without major changes to the relationship.
"All countries should have their sovereignty, but don't discuss leaving a
trading partner where 50pc of your exports go," said Stephen Odell, chief
executive of Ford in Europe. "That would be devastating for the UK economy."
