Antarctic Ice Melting at Fastest Rate in 1,000 Years
Pippa at Pippa's Place - Environmentally Speaking - 1 hour ago

Summer ice is melting at a faster rate in the Antarctic peninsula than at
any time in the last 1,000 years, new research has shown.
The evidence comes from a 364-metre ice core containing a record of
freezing and melting over the previous millennium.
Layers of ice in the core, drilled from James Ross Island near the northern
tip of the peninsula, indicate periods when summer snow on the ice cap
thawed and then refroze.
By measuring the thickness of these layers, scientists were able to match
the history of melting with changes in tempera... more »

Reflecting the light of bright star Rigel, Beta Orionis, the jutting,

the red glow of hydrogen gas ionized by ultraviolet starlight seem to
connect that infamous visage with smaller nebulae, like dusty reflection

*“All Night, In The Dark”*
by Chet Raymo
“Why do we so admire the poetry of Mary Oliver? She is not the most
technically proficient poet around, and there is a disquieting sameness to
her work. But we come back to her again and again. My volumes of Oliver's
collected poems are the most dog-eared of any on my shelf. I think it is
something about the way Oliver is able to get out of her body and into the
skin of a hummingbird, a swan, a snake, or a black bear. She is a
shape-shifter, a shaman. When she describes a grasshopper moving its jaws
this way and that, we almost feel it ... more »

Report released on eve of Deepwater Horizon anniversary
tells of BP lies and government collusion in oil 'clean-up'.
by Jacob Chamberlain
A dispersant plane passed over an oil skimmer in the Gulf of Mexico
ten days after Deepwater Horizon explosion (Patrick Semansky/AP)
"Not only is the chemical dispersant that was used to "clean up" the
Deepwater Horizon oil disaster of 2010 extremely dangerous, it was
knowingly used to make the gushing oil merely "appear invisible" all the

Financial Media Outlets pull Stories regarding Reuters Killing Soros
Scott Ryan Anderson at Table Of Wisdom.com - 1 day ago
It is pretty telling how Marketwatch.com and other major financial websites
felt they had to disable the comments and/or outright remove the freshly
posted stories about the Reuters false death report of George "Schwartz"
Soros.
The epitaphs coming in were getting too embarrassing for the Soros media
sycophants. I can keep this short and leave it to the imagination. For
those of you who missed it before the story was removed, let's just say
that the news of his death "being greatly exaggerated" wasn't met with much
joy or relief by Marketwatch readers who often take the opportunit... more »

(The Oil Drum) – The combined crude oil production of the five main
international oil companies (Exxon, BP, Shell, Chevron and Total) hit an
historic high in 2004. Since then, it has fallen by 25.8%, despite large
increases in investments.
Total crude oil produced by the majors was 10.760 million barrels per day
(MB/D) in 2004. In 2012, it reached only 7.981 MB/D. It has decreased by... more »
MAINE PAPER COVERS JEJU NAVY BASE FIGHT
Bruce K. Gagnon at Organizing Notes - 1 day ago
Here is the full-page coverage last Monday in our local Times Record
(midcoast Maine) newspaper about the Jeju Island Navy base fight.
Fellow Maine activist Carolyn Coe went to Gangjeong village for three weeks
and did this great report. I am amazed and happy that the paper covered
this considering that the Navy Aegis destroyers, outfitted with so-called
missile defense systems, are made here in Bath.
It's a really good thing for the community to have to see this. Thank you

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in police custody, hours after his brother, Tamerlan
died following a gun battle with his pursuers.
I had feared the 19-year old Dzhokhar would either be brought down by
police or take his own life which might have left many questions
unanswered. Now at least the authorities will have a slim chance to
interrogate young Tsarnaev.
Given that this appears to have been a political act, Tsarnaev may be
willing to make a statement. Of course, given that he is a recent
immigrant of the Muslim faith from central Asia coupled with the fact that
today's America is a ... more »
Good police work in Boston

It seems the marathon bombers have been found and killed in a gun flight
with police or captured.
Since the bombing was this week and there were no obvious clues except
video that is a remarkable accomplishment.

Tennessee date rape drug doctor Scott DesJarlais as being the two incumbents

“Evading Suspicion and Shirking Responsibility”: The Politics of Official Discord in Qing Taiwan, 1725-1726

*Don't come any closer!*
The Sungkyun Journal of East Asian Studies hosted an interesting journal
article on the complexities of 18th century Qing Administration in
Taiwan.....
That is, when Chanjibu impeached Magistrate Zhou Zhongxuan 周鐘瑄 for
illegally accepting seven hundred taels of silver from a defendant in a
criminal case. Ordinarily, this “crime” would hardly even have aroused the
attention of the prefect, much less that of the emperor, particularly when
the sum involved was so small. Nevertheless, the case would embroil
bureaucracies in Taiwan, Fujian, and beyond, make and... more »

Transformation*
April 19, 2013
Frequencies of transformation among up-grading Hue-mans are increasing, and
currently have reached 11-fold from time of prior post. The frequency
increase varies from individual to individual, yet the 11-fold number
signifies transmittance of new 4-7D codes into the consciousness bodies of
each.
Indications of frequency increase include sense of dissonance with all
prior life pathways, release of all internal energetic “packages” which no
longer support the increasing frequencies,... more »
Vulture Capitalism is Alive and Well
The Mound of Sound at The Disaffected Lib - 1 day ago
For all the lofty reports lately of a capitalist reformation and new age
economics that recognize natural and social capital in addition to
financial capital, there's this.
In the U.S., five states are poised to begin actively poaching California
companies. What is the weakness they're lining up to exploit? Why it's
an insidious, voter-approved initiative to raise income taxes to finance
education.
That's driven knowledge-based companies such as Google, Apple and SolarCity
to make tracks for backward, low-tax states like Texas, Arizona, Virginia
and Nevada. They want highly... more »
