Ko Savonije at Naval Open Source INTelligence - 26 minutes ago
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin a $914 million contract to improve the way objects are tracked in space and increase our ability to prevent space-based collisions. Lockheed Martin’s Space Fence solution, an advanced ground-based radar system, will enhance the way the U.S. detects, catalogs and measures more than 200,000 orbiting objects. With better timeliness and improved surveillance coverage, the system will protect space assets against potential crashes that can intensify the debris problem in space. Read more

Biometric passport terror

Luboš Motl at The Reference Frame - 1 hour ago
An hour ago, a seemingly mundane procedure has reminded me why I hate the government so much. After a decade, I had to apply for a new "Citizen's ID card", the most widely used ID in Czechia, and the new passport. I don't remember a bureaucratic procedure of this kind that would be quite smooth but the experience today was much worse than the average. "The Citizen's ID card" steps were tolerable – although being exposed to a bureaucrat who shows you how he or she is in charge is always annoying, much like taking photographs. But the real story began with the passport applicatio... more »

Destroyer project delays threaten new warship contracts

Ko Savonije at Naval Open Source INTelligence - 1 hour ago
[image: Hobart class DDG]The building of eight new warships in Australia is in question because of delays and cost blowouts in the troubled air warfare destroyer project. The Abbott government has warned the alliance of companies building the three powerful new destroyers for the Royal Australian Navy that it must end delays and cost overruns that have added hundreds of millions of dollars to the cost of the project and delayed it by at least 21 months. Defence Minister David Johnston warned today that if the industry could not get the destroyer project fixed, that would threaten it... more »

From the scant data I saw over the years I was never optimistic but welcomed the actual test that likely produced a clear negative. The writer unfortunately errs in been overly rigid regarding gluten free. The fact remains that most of us can tolerate modest exposure quite well. I consider best practice to make sure that the offending product(s) are used only time to time with plenty of days in between where it is not touched. We want to avoid using it as a daily staple. Our problem is often not with wheat per se but with easting it at every meal and every day. That is such an obvious issue, were it not for the sugar high, we would have abandoned it long since. I just started reading Rick Pearlstein's new book, The Invisible Bridge: That Fall of Nixon and the Rise of Reagan. In the first chapter, he talks about who "America the Innocent" is "always searching for totems of a unity it can never quite achieve-- even, or even especially, when its crises of disunity are most pressing: it is one of the structuring stories of our nation." This leads to a look at the national orgy of self-congratulatory ecstasy and patriotic spectacle over "Operation Homecoming," the release of the last American prisoners of war held in Vietnam. None of them violates the property rights of anybody else, because everybody is free to enter the mining and minting business, and nobody is obliged to buy the product. *Source: El Observador (Chile)Date: 05.31.2014* *Chile: Unidentified Light Videotaped Over La Serena* Everyone knows that the region has a record of unidentified flying object manifestations in different locations, particularly the local valleys. However, the UFO captured on video by local youths was recorded from La Serena's Avenida del Mar. It is possible to see a small yellow light maneuvering in the sky in these images, moving in different directions in a matter of seconds. During nearly three minutes of recording, the youths exchange opinions about the phenomenon that has a... more »

All Together Now - "I AM"

Sophia Love at AMERICAN KABUKI - 12 hours ago
How much your days complete themselves to your satisfaction and pleasure has everything to do with your intent upon rising. Do not assume that a morning spent in a state of sorrow or less than pleasant spirits will turn around on its own to be joyful. Mindfulness is key to consciousness. We have heard this before. Tich Nhat Hanh writes about the joy found in every moment in “The Miracle of Mindfulness”. It is a state of mind yielding much pleasure. To attain it on a moment to moment basis demands vigilance. This may sound like a lot to do when in fact, with awareness – it is... more »

More Bad News For Hanabusa: Hawaii Democrats Are Especially Sensitive to Industrial Pollution

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 13 hours ago
Another reason Brain Schatz is crushing corrupt New Dem Colleen Hanabusa in the polls is because he has been a leader on clean energy and she has been foot-dragger. He's part of the solution. Always concerned with the special interests who have financed her grotesquely transactional career, she's part of the problem. Just last week, the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals ruled against Hanabusa (she was the plaintiff and also represented herself *pro se*) in a case where she was attempting to shut down Honolulu's landfill at Waimanalo Gulch. For years, Hanabusa has litigated to ... more »

Thoughts on the Third Eye with Doc Sutter

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
Thanks for these insights. They are very important and most important is that we can all access this ability. What is just as clear is that there is little proper guidance because we have all been in denial. What makes it harder is that it is also clear that we need the guidance. The evil spirit does exist and spirits generally must not be trusted to have a whole truth. What has to be understood is that spirits as we encounter them are generally human and are plausibly no better informed than when they left the physical. They can pay attention and help or not as well. ... more »

The Natural Healing Paradigm with Doc Sutter

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
We have been working around the field of healing for some time. Some of that was personal, but far more of it was observational and through the extensive reading tracked through this blog. It was also driven by the clear and failure of current medical practice to actually solve the big obvious problems. Postponement was never a cure. Doc Sutter has filled in the blanks and developed a clear healing protocol or perhaps we need to refer to them as protocols. Even more important it is a program that leads to health restoration. There is a lot of meat in the details. First I... more »

Whale Graveyard?

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
This is unexpected and the numbers even more unexpected. I would like to see these well studied in order to determine just what happens to the skeleton. Do they also breakdown? I expect so, but this is our chance to find out. The reason I ask this is that we do have an ancient rare seabed fossil that was subjected to the same environment. It would be good to know just how unique fossilization happens to be. Not quite an elephants graveyard but it certainly smacks of just that. *Deep-sea 'graveyard' reveals fate of dead ocean giants* *By Rebecca Morelle* *Science correspo... more »

Beware the ‘Little White Rabbit’ of China’s Military

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
Of course, the Chinese military has the mission of neutralizing western Military dominance. This includes a vast amount of disinformation and the current spate of small challenges on small territorial issues in order to perhaps settle borders. I do not thinking that it is working too well and is mostly encouraged by a pacifist President. What has happened is that the informal border state alliance has been reinvigorated and we will see pushback in which the Border States will be quite able to drive a fair bargain. That was not particularly smart and only excusable in terms o... more »

Our Engineered Solar System?

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
One basic conjecture that has evolved on this blog and must now be taken much more seriously is this: *Conjecture:* Technologically advanced life is and has been actively establishing habitation throughout the Solar System. This has been going on for a very long time. That we identify 200,000 BP as an initiation point for genetically modified humanity likely only locks in our share of this endeavor. It is now wide open as to the first such activity itself. *Conjecture:* The principle tool for all habitation with the exception of Earth’s surfa... more »

Reagan-Appointed Judge Posner Wants to Legalize Cocaine, Heroin, Meth, LSD

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
I have long come to the same core conclusion although I am actually far more proactive regarding the demands put on users to be productive citizens. Addiction is a trap that is difficult for the victim to escape. Thus intervention needs to happen. Progressive health farms that use short session labor as part of the therapy helps achieve those ends. Here I return to my core idea of a warm bed, a solid breakfast and four hours grooming woodland followed by a hearty lunch as a reasonable demand and reward. After that the individual can make additional choices on his own hook... more »

3 Months Since Legalizing Marijuana

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
What has happened is a successful rollout. Good sense is even dominating the whole process. Add in the added recent discovery that marijuana just happens to allow hard drug users to wean themselves and in spite of the continued prohibition, there is serious hope that real drug addiction is in serious and sustainable retreat. After all these years, we really needed this news. The momentum and capital investment is also leaping ahead and all this bodes well for a robust industry in which the delivery protocol of choice will be oral in food and through these new vaporizers. Why Poutine Could Be On The Path To World Domination?

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
Ten years ago, Canadians had barely heard of it. Yet it is such an obvious dish for every French fry deep fryer out there that every fast food franchise brought it in. MacDonald’s makes an excellent version by the way. Thus we are now well supplied. It is also blindingly obvious that it will take off in the USA as well for the same reason. After all everyone has a deep fryer and produces French fries. The rest is no trick at all to supply and no additional processing is needed. After all you are dressing the fries with a handful of cool curds and a shot of hot gravy. This... more »

Pioneering Work on Gluten Allergy Was Wrong

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
What this does is let us to set aside the doctrine of gluten sensibility itself and that is good. What it does not do though is license you to make gluten a major component of your diet. Bread and cakes remain a generally bad food choice and need to be largely eliminated, mostly because it is so persuasive. Too much means eating mostly sugars and that is straight to the high road to diabetes. I recently learned to properly make bannock using high quality flours as well as other ground grains. Without question, China is the only regime able to serious tackle this ambitious a project. Yet their continuing build out of their internal network actually proves capability and serious capacity. New Super-Heavy Element 117 Confirmed by Scientists

Always pleasing to add another element to the list even if it is never likely to be of any use to anyone. What is interesting is that I now know how to go about modeling proton and neutron location in the elements and it may be possible to achieve something super heavy. Actually making a lot of it would be important and needs to be considered. A breakthrough must come in a single jump to a higher stable configuration with a lot more protons and special symmetries in place. The rest will exist but as shown very briefly. It will still be a serious fabrication challenge. We... more »

Here again we have direct reference to Russia’s extraordinary interest in Phobos. They have never promoted this but they certainly spelled it out as in fact I have. Just as last year their mission crashed and burned, so too had the effort made in 1989. This represents an unusual level of single mindedness that is surprising. Recall that it appears from mass calculations made by the Russians in 1959, that Phobos is hollow. This makes it a powerful candidate for a human or otherwise manufactured Space Station. It would have a spinning onion shelled craft inside which naturally... more »

How much Longevity Can be Achieved Now?

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
What this asks is can we achieve significant longevity with what must be described as item by item restoration. It seems we should but I am more inclined to expect any practical system will tackle all tissues and restoration will remain available for gross damage. One clear example of this will be dental restoration already close to leaving the laboratory. The same methods and stem cell methodology are all all... more »

How the Mars Moon Phobos Got Its Grooves

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
This explanation is nonsense. The grooves happily trace the curvature of the moon and there is no plausible way that can happen naturally. It is like shooting a bullet at a skull and expecting it to grove the skull while following its shape. Since we are already committed to investigating this moon as an artificially worked object that is hollow, those grooves look like the scaring left from reduction and shaping work done to prepare this moon for movement and operation as a space station. It is spherical enough to not provide center of gravity problems. These may even be... more »

Restoring the inner ear is obviously important and welcome. This reports that serious progress is now been made and the next decade could produce a successful working protocol to essentially eliminate deafness by simple regrowth. I got this item from an investment newsletter named Energy and Capital. This proposes a clear cultural driver based on the need for establishing boundary markers that discourage manipulation. There is plenty of merit to this idea as such cairns have always represented a serious security problem. Thus building even a religious site works wonders to prevent such problems. Thus it makes perfect sense for nascent religious leaders to coopt such locales into their developing doctrines to ensure stronger adherence. After all a temple placed directly by a boundary marker makes it pretty difficult to fool around with lesser markers and provides an impor... more »

IRS to Expand Financial Surveillance With Crackdown On Offshore Accounts

Rock Lines Marked Way to Ancient Peru Fairs

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
The fact that we have a second incidence of these geo lines takes a lot of the mystery out of the process. Community complexes needed communal gathering areas for annual events, much as we do today. Thus a flat high desert or even a local stretch of waste land is a natural locale. They are likely at most a day’s walk from home for participants. With that yearly incentive, it becomes a clan to dress up their own campsite and to help establish boundaries in conjunction with others. As well, if ritual processions are happening, then the road bed will be bounded as well. All... more »

Banana's Health Effects

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 13 hours ago
I eat a lot of bananas and have scant reason for doing so except to think that it is a very safe option. They are at least more convincing than apples. This item pretty well spells it out. I continued to be surprised by the nutrient utility of fruit in particular. Thus I strongly encourage splurging on fruit as a matter of course as well as a wide range of vegetables. I also note that eating meat fails to a large degree because the meat making process consumes these obscure nutrients. Thus correct diets need to over emphasize raw fruit and vegetables with some animal prot... more »

Parent Insists Her Child Will No Longer Be Pearson Lab Rat

There was a time not so long ago when the post-test curriculum could take hold after the March madness of state testing, when teachers could do a few of the interesting units and projects that once engaged children from September through February. Now school after test time is increasingly filled with even more rigorometry and grittiness in order to be ready for next year's tests and in getting ready for the field tests that Pearson will pass out in May and June to devise another billion dollar batch of high stakes stress for years to come. Air Force Lies about the Close Encounters Chase

KRandle at A Different Perspective - 20 hours ago
Although the reason for my post on the “Close Encounters Chase” was simply to point out that there had been a negative impact on the lives of some of the police officers involved, other points have been raised. So, I have been looking at some of other material available. My original intent here was to just show that the part of the Air Force explanation was a blatant lie (which is obvious from the record of the case), but I’m going to expand it slightly. First, the lie. The Air Force, on the Project [Blue Book] Card, lists the following explanations. 1. PHOTO: (PROCESSING DEFECTS) ... more »

The United States of America is having a terrible time economically. The Wall Street crash did much more of a number on their economy than it did on ours. But we're coming up on our own disaster. Here's why: 1. Successive presidential administrations doctored the collecting of economic statistics so that the it became increasingly difficult to know what exactly is going on in the economy. 2. As more and more people fell off the radar, the economy hollowed out and this was covered over with technology bubbles, real estate bubbles and massive transfers as wealth. So now harper has tu... more »

Yesterday, Barack Obama announced that the United States is moving to restrict the emissions of its greatest polluter, the coal industry. The objective is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from coal by 30% in the next sixteen years. Stephen Harper responded by saying that Canada already restricts emissions from coal. What he neglected to say, of course, is that coal accounts for only 11% of Canada's greenhouse gas emissions. The Canadian equivalent of coal is the tar sands. Since he came to power, Mr. Harper has done everything he could to pave the way for bitumen -- and he has t... more »
