Crazed Oklahoma Republican Candidate Says He Loves God So Much That He Wants To Kill Gay People

Monday, we looked at the tiny handful of homophobic Democrats-- like Blue Dogs John Barrow (GA), Dan Lipinski (IL) and Collin Peterson (MN)-- left in Congress. Most homophobes-- and haters and bigots of all persuasions-- know which party to gravitate to these days: the GOP. Reactionaries like Barrow, Lipinski and Peterson may be against equality for the LGBT community-- ior lacking in the courage to stand up for it-- but at least they're not advocating stoning gays to death. Clashes Between the Islamic State and the Baathist Naqshibandi As Both Try To Expand

Joel Wing at MUSINGS ON IRAQ - 1 hour ago
As the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) cuts a path across northern and central Iraq other insurgent groups are attempting to take advantage of the situation. There have been reports that the Baathist Jaysh Rijal al-Tariqa al-Naqshibandi (JRTN) were active in the taking of Tikrit and are operating in Mosul as well. With the general collapse of the security forces in Mosul, northern and central Salahaddin and western Tikrit it is only natural that other armed groups would make their move to seize territory as well. Duelling Grammarians

One might think that English grammar, even more than its lexicon, would be something that would have long been intrinsically understood, and little in need of explication or improvement. And yet, the services of a dictionary having proven valuable, that of a printed *grammar* seemed a logical step -- after all, Latin Grammars were vital school textbooks, and the idea that English should be more like Latin, or at least described in Latin terms, caught on widely. We owe our grammatical terms -- adjective (from *adiectus*, "to annex a territory"), to preposition (from *præ-positiones*... more »

"Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time?" That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains, everywhere and that the present only exists for it, not the shadow of the past nor the shadow of the future." ~ Herman Hesse, "Siddhartha"

* "Man's Search For Meaning" (Excerpt)* by Viktor Frank "When a man finds that it is his destiny to suffer, he will have to accept his suffering as his task; his single and unique task. He will have to acknowledge the fact that even in suffering he is unique and alone in the universe. No one can relieve him of his suffering or suffer in his place. His unique opportunity lies in the way in which he bears his burden. For us, as prisoners, these thoughts were not speculations far removed from reality. They were the only thoughts that could be of help to us. They kept us from despair, ... more »

noreply@blogger.com (CoyotePrime) at Running 'Cause I Can't Fly - 11 hours ago
"Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur," a Latin phrase, means "The world wants to be deceived, so let it be deceived." The saying is ascribed to Petronius, a Roman satirist from the first century, CE. "The pontifex maximus Scævola thought it expedient that the people should be deceived in religion; and the learned Varro said plainly, that "there are many truths, which it is useless for the vulgar to know; and many falsities which it is fit the people should not suppose are falsities." Hence comes the adage "Mundus vult decipi, decipiatur ergo."

SO WHO STARTED THE MIDDLE EAST QUAGMIRE?

Let’s get straight to the point; if George W. Bush, Tony Blair, John Howard and their other Western supporters had not lied their way to a war against Iraq, the Middle East would not be in the mess it finds itself in today in Syria and Iraq. In short, the people of the Middle East can blame the West for much of the turmoil that dominates their lives now so is it any wonder that the youth of the region – and young Muslims all over the world – who have resented what has happened to them and their comrades have become radicalised to the point where they are now perpetuating the very tur... more »

How do we know we can believe him,' or you can say, 'We know that we cannot believe 'our' government and its presstitute media, so let’s give the reporter the benefit of the doubt.' The reporter uses the German word Untermenschen, which means 'under men' or lesser beings. The Nazis applied this term to most of humanity, while referring to Germans as Ubermenchen which means, in effect, overlords or superior men. The US neoconservative ideology parallels the Nazi ideology. Americans are the Exceptional People, the Indispensable People. Everyone else is unexceptional and dispensable. Supplemental: What’s the real point of the Common Core?

bob somerby at the daily howler - 22 hours ago
*WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11, 2014* *Common versus higher:* From the standpoint of messaging, an advocate can never go wrong calling for “higher standards.” That sounds like something a person would want! Who could possibly stand opposed to “higher standards?” This messaging drives the campaign in support of the Common Core. That said, the Common Core is often supported in a different way. Often, advocates praise the Common Core because it creates a *common* set of “standards.” If every state signs on to the program, all the states will be teaching the same skills in each grade! *“The Lies Grow More Audacious”* by Paul Craig Roberts “If there were any doubts that Western “leaders” live in a fantasy make-believe world constructed out of their own lies, the G-7 meeting and 70th anniversary celebration of the Normandy landing dispelled the doubts. The howlers issuing from these occasions are enough to split your sides. Obama and his lap dog Cameron described the Normandy landing on June 6, 1944, as “the greatest liberation force that the world has ever known” and took all the credit for the US and Britain for the defeat of Hitler. THIS Is Absolutely Appalling! Revealed: Thousands Of Irish Orphans Were Used As "Drug Guinea Pigs" (!)

I have been doing a lot of news catching up this morning, and YES, I have read all the reports about how investigators have come across hundreds of skeletons of dead children associated with orphanages in Ireland, and especially near the Irish town of Tuan... It is absolutely appalling that now we are discovering such horrific abuse of these children and the fact that many died at an early age due to a wide assortment of ailments and/or abuse..... That discovery of the skeletons of dead and missing children at Irish orphanages is bad enough, but I came across an article just now tha... more »

World cup soccer impinges on the local people and they are in the streets. The TV money must be huge around the world. Advertising rates now trump the actual sport. All major sports are now fully dominated by the corporate money. My two favorite sports, baseball and basketball, are infested with money and increasingly are used for dangerous displays of nationalism. They call it the "warrior culture". Baseball players are dressing in camo to "honor the troops" at the same time the VA waiting list scandal is humming along in Washington. It's all smoke and mirrors. It often co... more »

I think there is evidence sufficient to justify an inquiry into the alleged infiltration of several Birmingham schools. It might be *The Telegraph*, but Andrew Gilligan makes a compelling case. All that matters now is that investigations proceed in due course. It is entirely unhelpful and downright opportunist for various papers and the Tories to scrabble for lurid headlines and knee jerk policy announcements, none of which has anything to do with the rise of UKIP and the need to shore up one’s core vote. Bruce K. Gagnon at Organizing Notes - 23 hours ago
Excellent report on growing US-Japan military alliance aimed at China & Russia...... For those who forgot - or never knew - Japan was an imperial aggressor during WWII and brutalized many across the Pacific. Coming out of the war the US, just like we did in Europe, did prosecute some fascist leaders but many others with particular 'skills' in spying, weapons making, military administration, or more were brought under the US umbrella. Under this shelter the 'former' fascists could be put to work on a new mission - making Mr. Big's program of full spectrum dominance a reality.

When she was a state Senator, Debbie Wasserman Schultz made a deal with the Republicans to gerrymander Florida in a way that was extremely advantageous to the GOP and gave them control of far more congressional seats than the statewide voting patterns would have predicted. But it was also very advantageous to-- you guessed it-- Debbie Wasserman Schultz (and some of her crooked cronies from both sides of the aisle in the state legislature).
