Should The Post Office Offer Banking Services?
You're probably aware that crooked multimillionaire Darrell Issa (R-CA)-- a
car thief, street thug and arsonist-for-profit-- has been working on a plan
to abolish the post office on behalf of his allies at for-profit delivery
systems at FedEx and UPS. We are potentially just one election away where
Republicans get the power to irreversibly shutter the American postal
service.
Senator Elizabeth Warren has come up with a proposal that would save the
post office and provide basic, crucial banking services for millions of

Locust
Early white settlers on the high plains of the western U.S. were always
bummed out when colossal swarms of locusts dropped by for lunch. The sky
would darken, and the land would be filled with the roaring buzz of
millions of fluttering wings. Within an hour or so, everything was covered
with them, including the settlers, who frantically tried to brush off the
hundreds of hungry insects that were chewing apart their clothing.
They were Rocky Mountain locusts, a North American species that lived west
of the Mississippi — and the stars of Jeffrey Lockwood’s book, *Locust*. When

According to the BBC News website's *News from Elsewhere *section,
The president of Kazakhstan has apparently suggested changing the country's

Now, personally, I can't for the life of me think why any self-respecting

associated with, say, Pakistan or Afghanistan. The suffix '-stan' surely
brings nothing but happy connotations with it. If the EU changed its name

US tests B61 Atomic Bomb- fire later that night at labs

I sent that information through a few channels that I have to check things

Legislating Apathy
Yesterday, the Harper Party moved to limit debate on its so called Fair
Elections Act. Three days, they said, is all it should take to debate the
bill. The reason for the three day limit is abundantly clear: the longer
the bill is exposed to sunlight, the more its real intention becomes clear:
“A big part of this bill is about voter suppression,” NDP deputy leader
David Christopherson told The Huffington Post Canada.
Young people, aboriginals and low-income Canadians are being unfairly
targeted by a bill that the Conservatives have labelled the Fair Elections
Act, the NDP argued.... more »

Ukraine: can U.S., U.N. meddle with it while [having coitus with] EU?
Some comments related to Russia and Ukraine.
First, Madonna introduced the two freed Pussy Riot members in Brooklyn. She
said that thanks to them, "pussy" became a sayable word in her household.
Her 8-year-old kids are learning to speak and they are already saying
"pussy" all the time, making their mom proud.
Madonna's behavior is an example of the pure cluelessness of the mass
culture's "celebrities" about politics. Hours after the concert, the two
Russian women were finally freed. More precisely, they were fired by Pussy
Riot, i.e. by its remaining members (Cat, Garage, Headlamp... more »
Don’t Make These 10 Easily Avoidable Mistakes That Can Get You Fired
One of my greatest frustrations as an employee-side employment lawyer is
that many people come to me after being fired because they made mistakes
they could have easily avoided. Don’t lose your job over a stupid mistake.
In raising children, my husband and I periodically note, “Things we
shouldn’t have to say, but apparently do.” We’ve put, “Don’t eat the snail
you found on the porch,” “Don’t cut a chunk out of your sister’s hair,”
“Don’t put the cat in the clothes hamper,” and “Don’t write on your feet”
in this category. (I understand silly product warnings more clearly since

Steve Israel made a lot of really bad choices this cycle. His Jump Start

Do you have this uncomforable feeling that your financial situation has been declining since 2008? We know that those on Wall Street who caused the financial crash are thriving while those on mainstreet are struggling. If you buy a home for $100,000 it will likely have cost $250,000 once your loan is paid off. So taxpayers are paying more to those that financed the project than to those that built it. Are you alright with that? Well, there is an answer: Public Banks.
