"It's now confirmed. A new study published in the PLOS has discovered that DNA (complete genes) from GMOs can be transferred into the human circulation system."
"A philosophical viewpoint that opinions or beliefs of reality should be based on science, logic and reason. Ideas should not be derived from religion, authority, governments or dogmas.
A free thinker should not reject nor accept any proposed truths of organized religion, established norms, media, etc. They should determine if the belief is valid based on their own knowledge, intuition, research and reason. Just because other people believe in it, doesn't mean it's right! Use your own judgment and think critically!"

Americans Favor Ties with Cuba:

A majority of Americans now favor normalizing relations or engaging more directly with the Cuban government, according to a survey released Tuesday by the Atlantic Council. The survey found that 56 percent of Americans favor changing Cuba policy. In Florida, home to the nation’s largest Cuban-American community, the majority is even greater: 63 percent. “We have had an embargo for 55 years. It’s counterproductive. It’s time we normalize relations,” said Sen. Bernie Sanders, just back from a weekend visit to Cuba. Sanders said lifting the embargo would benefit the economies of both countries.

The workers in poultry plants are expected to process 140 birds a minute, standing for hours at a time and enduring factory conditions that lead to respiratory problems, debilitating pain in their hands and fingers, and more.

Do you know the USDA wants to increase those line speeds to 175 birds per minute AND decrease the number of federal inspectors in poultry plants?

Not only is their proposal dangerous for workers, but it also doesn't bode well for food and consumer safety. Learn more in our report "Unsafe at These Speeds": http://sp.lc/ZmzcrV

Our public schools are inadequate, especially for kids whose families are in the bottom two-thirds – squeezing more than 30 of them into classrooms designed for 20, with threadbare textbooks, no science labs, no after-school programs. And our roads and public transportation systems are outmoded, suffering from decades of deferred maintenance and neglect, which also burdens the bottom two-thirds in particular since they rely on housing that's usually far away from where they work. So why aren’t we investing more in schools and infrastructure? We'd also be creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs at the same time -- jobs desperately needed by a record number of Americans who have given up looking for work.

Conservatives say “we can’t afford it.” Baloney. (1) The deficit as percent of GDP falling, and will soon be close to the average over the last thirty years. (2) Both the deficit and debt as percent of GDP will fall even faster if we grow faster. (3) Growth depends in part on public investments in education and infrastructure, which enable all of our people to be more productive. (4) So it makes financial sense to borrow more to finance these investments. (5) We can also finance them by raising taxes on the wealthy, who are richer than they’ve ever been, and are now paying a smaller percent of their incomes and wealth in taxes than at any time in the last 85 years.

The logic is clear. Why don’t they get it? Why aren’t our elected leaders making this case?

What a concept.

"In 2005, Utah figured out that the annual cost of E.R. visits and jail stays for homeless people was about $16,670 per person, compared to $11,000 to provide each homeless person with an apartment and a social worker. So, the state began giving away apartments, with no strings attached. Each participant in Utah’s Housing First program also gets a caseworker to help them become self-sufficient, but they keep the apartment even if they fail. The program has been so successful that other states are hoping to achieve similar results with programs modeled on Utah’s."

See all those white lines? That's fracking.

Fracking projects create spiderwebs of pipes, wells and roads spreading across rural landscapes.

Landowners have virtually no rights to object.

Exploration work has just been approved in the Tasmanian Midlands, and the Greens are the only party listening to the concerns of landowners.

The Harper government says it is not necessary to hold cross-country hearings on its controversial proposals for overhauling Canada's election laws.
Great editorial in the Toronto Star asking some very serious questions about Canada Revenue Agency audits of high-profile environmental groups.

Allegations of the CRA targeting environmental groups for the purpose of intimidation and potential political interference are very concerning.

I questioned the Minister about it in QP yesterday and her answers were simply not good enough. See the Star’s summary here:

Given the concern this sweep is generating, National Revenue Minister Kerry-Lynne Findlay owes Parliament and the public an explanation for the seeming crackdown. Yet when New Democrat revenue critic Murray Rankin demanded on Monday to know why the government is “trying to intimidate” groups who don’t agree with its policies, she brushed off the question by saying the tax agency “is doing its job,” at arms-length and free from political interference. Far from looking like routine “random selection” audits, these look targeted.

We’ll see what is in the budget today, but I will keep fighting against the intimidation of these organizations.

UK QUEEN IN DEPLETED URANIUM TRADE - HER FORTUNE IS £17 BILLION:

The British monarch has managed to increase her wealth from £300 million early in her 60-year reign to £17 billion at present thanks to investments in arms firms that produce uranium used in depleted uranium (DU) shells, including Rio Tinto Zinc. DU shells are notorious for their ability to pierce armor and kill targets due to their deadly radioactive features.

The video cites the American nuclear radiation expert Jay M. Gould as saying in his 1996 book titled "The Enemy Within: the High Cost of Living Near Nuclear Reactors" that the British "royal" family, especially the Queen herself, privately own investments in uranium holding worth some £4 billion through Rio Tinto Zinc.

The mining company, originally named Rio Tinto Mines, was allegedly created for the British "royal" family in the late 1950's by Ronald Walter Rowland, the Queen's "buccaneer". The video argues that the Queen and other "royals" have been investing in the death trade of depleted uranium globally with little ethical concerns for the consequences of their profiteering. DU weapons were first used by the US military during the first Persian Gulf War against Iraq in 1991. The US Defense Ministry estimated that between 315 and 350 tons of DU bombs, shells and bullets were fired during the conflict There are allegations that American and British troops used more than five times as many such weapons as the total number used in the 1991 war in Iraq. The US has confirmed the use of depleted uranium in both wars but refuses to disclose the scale of the use.

Iraq has seen a sharp rise in the number of children with leukemia and genetic malformation in the decades after the First Persian Gulf War that are attributed to the use of DU weapons. Let's take these "royal" mass-murderers to court and make them pay for their horrific crimes against humanity!
