A LOOK BACK
Here is a video called "The Battle for America's Soul" filmed at a 2005
speech. The event was held at the Emmanual Mennonite Church in Gainesville,
Florida.
The one-hour video covers the mythology of America, corruption within the
military industrial complex, plans for U.S. control of space, the corporate
destruction of the American economy, America's addiction to weapons and
war, and concludes with a transformative suggestion for the nation.

Ruminations on killing the pig!

*Dowd hates, loves high school blather:* Here at The Daily Howler, we’re

We strongly favor conducting skilled investigations of the pig. That said,
the press corps tends to open the killing fields while we wait for such

At present, the pig in question is Chris Christie. This has produced
several complaints in the past few days.
One complaint concerns his ongoing formulation about the possible role of

to help the poor become self-supporting has failed.” He writes further: On

Economic Liberalization via Charter Change, the FEF Statement
Investments and job creation is not a crime that must be restricted by
governments. The Philippine Constitution, ratified in 1987 or 27 years ago,
is nice except that it explicitly limits or bars foreigners from owning
certain assets and businesses in the country. Some sectors are limited to
either 40 percent maximum equity ownership by foreign investors, some are
outright off-limits to foreign investors.
I believe that the PH constitution needs to be revised and amended. In
addition, I wish to see a Constitution that is 10 pages max. Very few

We were especially struck by Monday night’s Maddow Show. In particular, we

Maddow was expanding the list of people she wants to see drawn and

Justin Trudeau's Senate Move... a great political move or amateurish
Harper has been mired in embarrassing scandals concerning his Senators,

*A Historical Perspective on Hysterical Rhetoric*
From 1948 to the present, environmental activists have declared that the
sky is falling.
*Suzuki hysteria*
We tend to ignore history in our daily lives. Which is too bad, because
historical perspective is one of our best defenses against foolish ideas.
Once we realize that a long line of people have insisted, in recent
decades, that we’re on the brink of environmental disaster, today’s climate
doomsayers suddenly snap into perspective.
Absolutely nothing new is going on here. Today’s hysteria, exaggeration,
and emotionally manip... more »

Rock ‘n’ roll was still in its infancy when it suffered its first tragedy.
On Feb. 3, 1959, three of the biggest stars of the day — Buddy Holly,
Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson, known as the Big Bopper — were killed

Republicans Want To Get Rid Of Their Corrupt Beltway Leaders… How About Democrats?
I met with a friendly congressman this week to talk about the prospects for
improving House Democratic leadership in a post-Pelosi world. Aside from
assuring me that enough members of the caucus detest Steve Israel so that
he's not going up any ladders, it was a depressing conversation.
Acknowledging that Steny Hoyer as Speaker or Minority Leader will mean the
caucus would, in effect, be run entirely by K Street, one phrase stuck in
my head: "Hoyer is very likable and no one is interested in patricide." I'm

As we begin this month, we've learned the civil case jointly filed by
Robert King, Herman Wallace, and Albert Woodfox has been frozen as the
State once again appeals a federal decision not in their favor, and we all
still anxiously word as to whether Albert's conviction will be vacated once

year since his conviction was overturned for a third time, but somehow,
despite decades of struggle and mountains of evidence pointing to
innocence, he still shivers in a solitary cell.

Time to Let the American Enabling Act Expire
In an all too rare display of chutzpah in post-September 11, 2001 America
which has been hammered home incessantly as* 'the day when everything

is a growing move to pushback against Obama's NSA Stasi and its illegality.
Without delving into the depths of speculation and conspiracy trafficking
it is apparent that the USA PATRIOT Act was to 9/11 what the Enabling Act was

Greater access to … profits.

Why are Microsoft, Verizon, Sprint and Apple so eager to donate three
quarters of a billion dollars to increase school access to the internet
("Obama Announces Pledges of $750 Million for Student Technology," Feb. 4)?
Could it be related to the fact that the Common Core requires online

companies?
Online testing requires not only access, but massive amounts of new
technology that promises to be obsolete as soon as it is in place. There is
no evidence that greater access to t... more »
