Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi, "The Tavern" (Excerpt)
"All day I think about it, then at night I say it. Where did I come from,
and what am I supposed to be doing? I have no idea. My soul is from
elsewhere, I'm sure of that, and I intend to end up there. Who looks out
with my eyes? What is the soul? I cannot stop asking. If I could taste one
sip of an answer, I could break out of this prison for drunks. I didn't
come here of my own accord, and I can't leave that way. Whoever brought me
here, will have to take me home."

Can Boneheaded Florida Republican Tom Rooney Keep Us Out Of War In Syria?
There isn't much good to say about wealthy dog track owner and Republican
Tom Rooney, who represents a huge rural chunk of central Florida southwest
of Orlando, east of Tampa Bay and north of Fort Myers-- FL-17, basically

Some gossip on the TPPP
Gossip drifting over to me ears from inside the Beltway: apparently Taipei
is signaling Washington privately that despite what it is publicly saying,
the Ma Administration does not want to become part of the TPP. One wonders
what private protocols have been negotiated between Beijing and Taipei over
closer links to Washington. We already know the Administration doesn't want
the F-16s despite the noises it makes publicly.

Why Peace In Palestine-Israel Is Unattainable
It has been a while since I did an article that focuses in on the ongoing

I have said many times in previous articles that true peace is absolutely
unattainable in Palestine with the parasitic alien Jews that are illegally
occupying the land, and there has been absolutely NOTHING that I have said
since that time that has changed.... Israel is still swallowing up what is
left of Palestine at breakneck speed, and very soon there will be

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The U.S. economy grew a lot slower in the first

article uses 2900 words to discuss Iran's "nuclear capability" and to

But not one of those words is "fatwa."
After mentioning the results of the recent election, the article notes

that of the supreme leader." But rather than then going on to note that the

Ed Markey
I haven't done a post yet on the new Senator from Massachusetts, mainly
because there was no surprise here, and he's presumably about as
predictable a new Senator as is possible.
I have talked about how Ed Markey is a setback for getting the Senate to be
younger, but if you're looking for trivia, Eric Ostermeier has plenty more:
about older Senators winning special elections, and about Markey's new
record for longest House service before moving to the Senate.
I don't have much to say substantively about Markey. I suspect he'll be a
disappointing Senator because he'll find it diffic... more »
Harper Explores Geo-Engineering to Arrest Global Warming

NDP, Liberals - Your Summer Project
Thanks to Senator Hugh Segal, the opposition parties have a wonderful
opportunity to do something useful over the summer recess - they can rally
to the defence of Canadian labour and every working man and woman in the
country.
Segal has reportedly infuriated the Harper regime by introducing an
amendment supported by a handful of decent Tory senators and Liberal
senators that effectively guts radical Tory MP Russ Hiebert's bill to
compel union disclosure.
The bill now goes back to the Commons this fall for reconsideration. That
gives the New Democrats and the Liberals ample time ... more »
Comical Plutocrat Blows Smoke At Greenwald
When it comes to the latest conspiracy theories, I usually back away out of
pure rational instinct. But the smear campaign currently in full swing
against Glenn Greenwald simply reeks of a conspiracy between the government
and the corporate press.
The smears against Edward Snowden started predictably and immediately. But
the campaign against the messenger of the messenger took awhile, mainly
because Snowden is off the radar at the moment and Glenn Greenwald's public
profile has been rising by the day. David Gregory got the ball rolling last
Sunday, and landed in the gutter. (see thi... more »
Now, Alberta, About That Pesky Carbon Bubble
Alberta is facing three immediate and potentially lasting problems - the
prospects of frequent, severe floods; the likelihood of extended periods of
severe drought; and the Carbon Bubble that hangs over the provincial
economy like a Sword of Damocles.
By some accounts, the Carbon Bubble dilemma worsened yesterday with
president Obama's climate change speech. He said that approval of the
Keystone XL pipeline would depend on ensuring it didn't "significantly
increase" greenhouse gas emissions. Obama could have but didn't clarify
what that meant.

Silver At Less Than 19 Dollars An Ounce? Are You Kidding Me???
Michael Snyder
The day that silver traders have been waiting for has arrived. On
Wednesday, the price of silver dropped another 5 percent. As I write this,
it is sitting at $18.55 an ounce. On Wednesday it hit a low that had not
been seen in three years. Overall, the price of silver has declined by 34
percent this quarter. That is the largest quarterly move in the price of
silver in more than 30 years. So what does all of this mean? It means
that we are looking at a historic buying opportunity for those that are
interested in silver.

DHS Report Points To Armageddon Scenario
Chris Carrington
In 2009 the DHS commissioned a report into the threats posed by space
weather. The fact that they did this is not surprising, we would all prefer
that the government actually did something sensible like protect their
citizens from the impact of CME’s, flares and such like.
The report was published in November 2011 and it states quite clearly on
the documentation page that it’s an unclassified report that has been
approved for unlimited public release.

Massive Coronal Hole: Solar Wind Will Hit Earth June 29th-30
credit: SDO/AIA Chris Carrington
A massive coronal hole straddling the Sun’s equator is sending out a highly
charged solar wind that will hit the Earth's magnetic field square on.
Solar winds are a continuous stream of ions, charged particles. The coronal
hole allows the particles to escape instead of looping back down to the
Suns surface. The winds from coronal holes take a few days to reach Earth,
and due to the Sun's rotation they emanate out in a ‘pinwheel’ fashion as
they pass through the solar system.
It’s the buffering of the Earth's magnetic field that gives rise to

First, the plan allegedly crafted by [Glendon] Crawford and alleged

Trump called Snowden a ”terrible guy who has really set our country back”

Ecowarriors destroy 6,000 GM beets in Oregon

To protect against genetic contamination, a group of ecodefenders destroyed
6,000 genetically modified beets in Jackson County, Oregon earlier this

organic crops through genetic contamination and pesticide aerial drift.
When cross contamination occurs, then our corrupt judicial system blames
the victim farmer who is ordered to pay Monsanto for the company’s failure
to control its frankenseeds that contaminated her organic crops.

"Have you ever been stuck over-thinking something that happened or
something you think will happen only to get your knickers in a bunch? I
know I have! This over-thinking thing keeps most of us stuck. It keeps us
rooted in fear, uncertainty, and doubt. It's a major contributor to the FUD

I don't know about you, but my over-thinking habit robbed me of my own

Inside Anglo Irish Bank - The Secret Recordings
PAUL WILLIAMS – 27 JUNE 2013
ANGLO boss David Drumm's strategy was to go down to the Central Bank "with
our arms swinging" to demand a cash injection for his sinking bank.
He explained his strategy about dealing with the Central Bank to senior
colleague John Bowe: "Get into the f**king simple speak: 'We need the
moolah, you have it, so you're going to give it to us and when would that

In the latest Anglo Tapes, Mr Drumm is heard saying he would be threatening

End of QE? I Don’t Buy It
*Guest post by Detlev Schlicter*
[image: image]A new meme is spreading in financial markets: The U.S.
Federal Reserve is about to turn off the monetary spigot. American
Printmaster General Ben Bernanke announced that he might start reducing the
monthly debt monetisation program called “quantitative easing” (QE) as
early as autumn 2013, and maybe stop it entirely by the middle of next year.
He reassured markets that “The Fed” will keep the key policy rate (the Fed

seen as the beginning of the end of super-easy ... more »
Security Operations Fail To Stop Violence In Anbar As Al Qaeda In Iraq Goes On The Offensive
For the last several weeks the Iraqi security forces (ISF) have carried out
a number of operations in Anbar, especially in the western desert and along
the Euphrates River. This hasn’t seemed to stop the violence however. In
fact, as a sign of defiance Al Qaeda in Iraq recently announced an
offensive of its own in the province. The situation has gotten so bad that
local officials have told the press that the military and police have lost
control of the border area, and that fighters are going back and forth
between Syria and Iraq at will. This is just the latest example of the

R. v. Aird, 2013 ONCA 447 holds:

because of the varied circumstances in which these relationships can arise;

The Economist: [Iran's nuclear] breakout beckons
A typical Western corporate article about Iran from The Economist. The
article uses 2900 words to discuss Iran's "nuclear capability" and to
conclude that "neither Iran’s election, nor sanctions nor military threats
are likely to divert it from the path it is on to getting nuclear weapons."
But not one of those words is "fatwa."
After mentioning the results of the recent election, the article notes
(correctly) that "the guiding hand behind Iran’s nuclear policy will remain
that of the supreme leader." But rather than then going on to note that the
supreme leader has declared nuclea... more »

We’d have to say, not entirely so. Here’s why we say that:
Several or all of the states released from preclearance may proceed to make
it harder for people to vote. For example, several of the affected states
are already proceeding towards tougher “voter ID” requirements.
We don’t favor such policies. But then, such policies are being proposed in

It’s the buffering of the Earth's magnetic field that gives rise to

and even suggested that the whistleblower be executed.
Spies in the old days used to be executed. This guy is becoming a hero in
some circles. Now, I will say, with the passage of time, even people that
were sort of liking him and were trying to go on his side are maybe
dropping out…

North Carolina State University researchers control cyborg cockroaches with Microsoft Kinect
image: Wikimedia Commons Madison Ruppert
Researchers at North Carolina State University have not only demonstrated
the ability to remotely control cockroaches with an electronic implant but
have now shown the ability to control the roaches with a Microsoft Kinect.
“Our goal is to be able to guide these roaches as efficiently as possible,
and our work with Kinect is helping us do that,” said Dr. Alper Bozkurt of
NCSU in a news release today.
I guess the Kinect isn’t only good for playing video games after all.
The Kinect is also being used by the researchers to collect data and dete... more »

*Awaken to the joy that lies within you*

The Land
It's time for another update on the state of The Land, using Google Earth
imagery from August 2012. Previous posts are here (2012) and here (2011).
This time we get the entire ten (actually fifteen) acres. The lower third
is a long "shotgun" five-acre lot that Southern Man (and his ex) purchased
about fifteen years ago. The upper-left portion is the five-acre "common
lot" owned by the homeowner's association but seldom used so it's really
part of Southern Man's back yard. The upper-right is a roughly square
five-acre lot that doesn't go all the way back to the water so it remained... more »

Guantanamo North: Abolish Secret Certificates and Secret Trials Immediately
Dees Illustration Isabelle Beenen
How would you feel if one of your friends, family members, children or
spouse were thrown into prison, *indefinitely, WITHOUT ANY CHARGES* here in
Canada of all places? *Did you know that that goes on here?* I’m sorry to
burst your bubble if you didn’t, but you need to know that this has been
the case in our country since 1979!
After the events of 9/11, the Canadian government rolled in something
called ‘Secret’ Certificates and ‘Secret’ Trials which in so-called
‘political’ logic allowed the following UN-constitutional, UN-democratic,

Snowden on the Move
Stephen Lendman
Where is Edward Snowden? Unanswered questions remain. Supposedly he
traveled from Hong Kong to Moscow en route to Havana and Quito, Ecuador. Or
did he? More on that below.
On June 25, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) headlined "Snowden sought
Booz Allen job to gather evidence on NSA surveillance."
He said so. "My position with Booz Allen Hamilton granted me access to
lists of machines all over the world the NSA hacked," he explained.
"That is why I accepted that position about three months ago." He took less
pay "in the course of pursuing specific work. Booz w... more »

Just Another Small Town American FEMA Camp…
Melissa Melton
This FEMA center is designated for use under emergency rule.
In getting footage for a mini-doc we’re working on, we passed the small
town of Taylor, Texas and came across one of our nation’s many lovely
Homeland Security family detention facilities.
Today it houses illegal immigrants and resident aliens, etc. caught in
legal limbo with Immigration & Customs, while its FEMA designation also
places it under Region VI FEMA command for civilian detainment in the event
of an emergency, including civil unrest, economic collapse, stress from
migration, natural disaster or... more »
INVENTING THE OTHER: Paula Deen said she invented the Internet!
*THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2013*
*Part 4—The Times pretends to correct:* This morning, the correction
appears, no thanks to Professor Coates.
Two days ago, his fellow Timesman, Kim Severson, made a flat misstatement
in her news report about Paula Deen. We petitioned Coates to alert his
readers to the growth of these bogus facts, carefully warning him that such
conduct may cost him his spot at the Times.
Coated played clam, accepting the fact that the Times is allowed to invent
bogus facts when it’s busy killing the pig. This morning, though, the Times
steps forward, offering this deceptiv... more »
State Department Debunks Iranian Latin American Terrorism Links
Dees Illustration Stephen Lendman
False anti-Iranian accusations persist. They're longstanding. Claims about
alleged nuclear bomb development don't wash. Nor do well publicized terror
attack charges.
The Islamic Republic's maliciously vilified. False accusations follow
earlier ones. A disturbing pattern repeats. Iran's sovereignty is
challenged. Its independence is threatened.
Washington wants pro-Western stooges everywhere. It wants rival states
eliminated. It wants unchallenged global dominance. Everything's fair game
to achieve it. Duplicitous misinformation proliferates.

Ecowarriors destroy 6,000 GM beets in Oregon
Rady Ananda
To protect against genetic contamination, a group of ecodefenders destroyed
6,000 genetically modified beets in Jackson County, Oregon earlier this
month. The FBI is involved and has deemed the act “economic sabotage,”
despite that Syngenta is creating products that economically destroy
organic crops through genetic contamination and pesticide aerial drift.
When cross contamination occurs, then our corrupt judicial system blames
the victim farmer who is ordered to pay Monsanto for the company’s failure
to control its frankenseeds that contaminated her organic crops.

Sidewalk Chalk Could Get you 10 years in Jail
As we prepare for the protest against the extremist American Legislative

is going to the extreme in their reactions to the first amendment process.
God only knows what kind of political right-wing nut jobs will be providing
support for ALEC in Chicago - we have no idea at this time, to know who or
what they have bought - with the help of their ALEC corporate benefactors,
to ensure that their annual secretive meeting of legislators and corporate

Obamacare to be Launched with a Star-Studded Celebrity Propaganda Campaign
Daisy Luther
If you need a sure way to identify that a proposed law or regulation is bad
news, perhaps the fact that it has to be presented by movie stars and
professional athletes to make it palatable could be a clue.
The White House is apparently getting celebrity endorsements to help sway
the public opinion on Obamacare.
After all, if that NFL superstar thinks it’s a good idea, all the wannabe
jocks will think it’s a good idea. If that beautiful, compassionate starlet
thinks that Obamacare is indicative of the Second Coming, then it must be
true. And then there is that comedia... more »

Challenging Liberty: The Danger of DNA Databases
Devon Douglas-Bowers
Earlier this month, the Supreme Court passed down a ruling stating that it
is legal to take DNA swabs from arrestees without a warrant on the grounds
that "a DNA cheek swab [was similar] to other common jailhouse procedures
like fingerprinting;"[1] and yesterday, it was reported that the New Jersey
state senate passed a bill that "would require the collection of DNA
samples from people convicted of some low-level crimes, including
shoplifting and drug possession."[2] While many are praising the passing of
such legislation, it ignores the inherent dangers of al... more »

Mystery of where Edward Snowden's actual whereabouts continue - did he actually fly to Russia as no one has seen him at the Russian airport or the hotel he allegedly was to stay in ....has an elaborate shell game been played ?
Catharsis Ours - 15 hours ago
Truly
odd that if he left Hong Kong for Russia that no one has seen Snowden
in Russia - not seen on the plane , not seen departing the plane , not
seen
in the airport ...... just where is he ? And what is he up to ? Or maybe
the question just may be what is Putin up to ? As the story continues to
evolve , Russia and China taking turns poking at the US , Russia finally
acknowledges the location of Snowden - as we wait to see what Ecuador
chooses to do !

Is Ed Miliband a worse Labour leader than Neil Kinnock or Michael Foot?
'Earlier this week YouGov published a poll which found just 3 per cent
of
those questioned believed Ed Miliband is a "natural leader". To put that
finding into context, a poll conducted by a different company in April
found 4 per cent of people believe the world is being run by a
conspiracy
of lizard men.'

Agenda 21 - Unconstitutional Conservation
Rocky Balboa
The gradual emergence of Agenda 21 from concept to implementation can be
seen either as world society waking up to environmental priorities with the
need to enforce sustainable development, or as a project in social
engineering and an infringement on private property rights.
Agenda 21 was first introduced to the international arena at the UN
Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit) held in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. 178 governments voted at Rio to adopt the
program. It has since been adopted by over 200 countries.
Lately we’ve seen signs of impl... more »
Bulls Eye: Smith and Wesson Sales Skyrocket: “We Are At Maximum Capacity”
Mac Slavo
Economic growth from the first quarter may have just gone boom as American
wages collapse and the prospects for jobs continue to deteriorate, but one
industry is breaking records without fail every month.
Firearms manufacturer Smith and Wesson reported a 37% increase in sales
year-over-year, with President James Debney noting that demand for product
isn’t waning and production capacity is the only bottleneck (so, if they
had more manufacturing plants, sales would be even higher).
President James Debney:
…gains over the year were driven by strong consumer demand for ou... more »
Read Stuff, You Should
Happy Birthday to Sandra Smith, 73. The one and only Dr. Janice Lester --
and, of course, James T. Kirk. Was also in a good Columbo.
Just a bit of good stuff:
1. A few days old, but: a nice look at the FISA judges. Good reporting by
John Shiffman and Kristina Cooke.
2. Yes, Kevin Drum is certainly right about this one: nobody cares about
federalism.
3. Sarah Binder looks at the 2006 precedent in order to think about whether
Congress is likely to act on the Voting Rights Act.
4. And Jack Balkin on *Windsor* (via Lemieux).
