Foolish Obama About to Start World War III
The 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I is this week and at the rate that the dangerous and incompetent narcissist in chief is going we may just celebrate with a grand fireworks show that will usher in World War III. Let's face it, the United States has become addicted to war, outside of the financial fraud industry that was abetted by Obama with the huge Wall Street bailout and subsequent failure to prosecute any of those banksters responsible for wrecking the economy war is always the answer and in an election year with feckless Democrats terrified of being called ... more »
The Consistency of Official Iranian Commentary, Part III:On Khamenei's Referendum Rhetoric, Reuters is Wrong
Last week, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addressed a meeting of Iranian university students and, in his first public comments on the ongoing assault on Gaza, spoke of his belief in the necessity of continued Palestinian resistance to Israel aggression, oppression, and occupation. "Don't the Palestinians have the right to defend their lives and security?" he asked rhetorically, and
Asymmetric Warfare: MH17 False-Flag Terror and the 'War' on Gaza
Niall Bradley Signs Of The Times When MH370 vanished into thin air on March 8th this year, an international search-and-rescue party scanned two of the world's oceans, pored over satellite images and radar readings, and consulted automated communication relays between parts of the plane and their manufacturers that monitor aircraft system performance in real-time. Despite these multiple layers of hi-tech monitoring systems, there is still no trace of the missing Boeing 777-200ER. Or so we've been told. All 239 passengers and crew are officially reported as missing, presumed dead. P... more »
THE OVERTHROW OF HAWAIIAN KINGDOM
My latest show talking with Jon Olsen from Jefferson, Maine about Hawaiian sovereignty. John has lived in Maine for 36 years and Hawaii for 36 years and remarkably connects Maine to the overthrow of the Hawaiian kingdom in the late 1800's. Jon has just written a book called "Liberate Hawaii".
NEW MISSILE DEFENSE BASE PUBLIC HEARINGS IN FOUR STATES
*Ground-based mid-course 'missile defense' systems are now deployed in Alaska and California. Congress has called for studies to determine where an east coast deployment site could be located* There are various kinds of 'missile defense' (MD) systems now being tested. The one with the very worst testing record is the Ground-based Mid-course program. It is very likely the most expensive of the MD programs because of the sheer difficulty of trying to have a bullet-hit-a-bullet in deep space at more than 15,000 mph. In the end the program is incredibly destabilizing as the enti... more »
The BBC just really hate Sarah Palin, it's almost unbelievable how much they hate her.
A couple of minutes near the end of tonight's 6pm BBC Radio 4 news were devoted to making fun of Sarah Palin's America radio station. A couple of mispronunciations were played so everyone knows how stupid she is. And there was a dig at her earnings from being a Vice Presidential candidate. Oddly the BBC have never had a similar piece on the many verbal mistakes made by Vice President Joe Biden. Nor have the BBC examined the massive amounts of money earned by Bill Clinton since he left office or by failed Presidential candidate Al Gore. The BBC's hatred of Sarah Palin is almost u... more »

The sleeping beauty problem
Sean Carroll's blog posts are getting stupider and stupider. The latest one is about the Quantum Sleeping Beauty and the Multiverse He believes that the blog post is about quantum mechanics or a "quantum version" of a silly problem that philosophers like to answer incorrectly. Of course, there is no quantum mechanics in his musings whatsoever. He hasn't even attempted to think quantum mechanically in his whole life and all his thinking has always been purely classical. In this case, he is thinking about the probabilities in a classical Universe with many worlds and a sleeping forge... more »
THE SICKNESS IN ISRAEL
This video shows an Israeli mob actually singing in celebration of children’s deaths in the style of a soccer fans’ song: “In Gaza there’s no studying, No children are left there, Olé, olé, olé-olé-olé.” The mob also incites directly against Ahmed Tibi and Haneen Zoabi, two prominent Palestinian citizens of Israel who are members of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. The video of the 26 July event in Tel Aviv was published by Israeli journalist Haim Har-Zahav. The words of the repulsive song have been translated for The Electronic Intifada by Dena Shunra: Tibi – Ahmed Tibi I wante... more »
How Iraq’s Civil War Broke Out In Diyala Province Interview With Richard Buchanan
Diyala can be said to be a microcosm of Iraq. It is the home to all three major ethnosectarian groups in the country. It has lush farmlands and mountain ranges. It also remains a battlefield between the security forces, militias and the insurgency today. In 2005 Richard Buchanan worked there as a defense contractor interrogating prisoners where he saw first hand the early stages of the civil war. Here is an interview with Buchanan about how the Iraqi insurgency was organized, what the militias did in response, and how the Americans were caught in the middle. Diyala province in ea... more »
MH-17: Uraine releases unconfirmed, possibly ill gotten flight data- Updated!
*Possibly, incorrect because as you will read the investigators are not confirming the claims made by Kiev.* *Ill-gotten* defined as *-acquired by illegal, dishonest or unfair means.* No confirmation which makes me question the credibility of the information presented. Is this just a psychological operation? Lots of news stories with the sentence "Kiev says". Exactly as was written when MH-17 crashed. This still reeks of creating/controlling the narrative. *Independent * *Dutch authorities have criticised Ukraine* for releasing information 'too early' and say they *do not know ho... more »
HL-LHC: 10-tesla shorter magnets are ready
The CERN website printed a cute engineering story about the Fermilab's success this spring: Next-generation magnets: Small, but powerful This fall, the Fermilab has shown a prototype of 10.4 tesla magnets. The high-luminosity (=more collisions per second) large hadron collider (HL-LHC) will need some new collimators etc. and in order to squeeze them over there, one will need magnets that are both shorter and stronger. The LHC has lots of 14-meter-long magnets that are 8 tesla strong. These Fermilab folks have presented a 2-meter prototype of a 11-meter-long magnet that has 10.... more »
Humanoid Encounters: The LIttle Green Men of La Plata - The Villa Montoro Case
*Humanoid Encounters: The Little Green Men of La Plata – The Villa Montoro Case* *By Carlos Sainz, Alternativa OVNI (No. 5, July 2014)* Toward late November and during the month of December of 1983, the neighborhood of Villa Montoro on the outskirts of La Plata (capital of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) became the epicenter for a series of reports by local residents – mainly children and teenagers – who claimed having witnessed encounters with small, greenish, humanoid entities. The case became known as “the little green men of La Plata” and it caused significant local i... more »

At the present time, of course, there *is* no a White House campaign. According to almost all the experts, our next presidential election takes place in November 2016. That’s well over two years away! At present, there is no campaign. No one is currently running for president! But major parts of the mainstream press corps love discussing White House campaigns, including those which aren’t yet occurring. Our upper-end “journali... more »

Riiight. Who's more likely to shoot a doctor?
"Prolife" has no shame or sense of irony. This is what was posted on the front page of their website. Gun held to the head of a Canadian physician? This is why. So "prolife" supports choice when it goes against the oath that doctors swear to uphold, AND limits women's choices. A reminder that the "prolife" movement has a violent history of executing doctors and staff at abortion clinics.

The Ford-Fest Bigots
A lot of people have already talked about the eruption of homophobia at the "Ford-Fest" in Scarborough. I watched it a couple of days ago at Montreal Simon's and I just thought I'd discuss what I saw at that NOW Magazine video. In the first segment, we hear someone shout "Fag!" But mostly it becomes an attempt by Ford's fans to drown out the organizers of "Queeruption" from speaking to the media by shouting "Rob Ford!" over and over, louder and louder. I also noticed the rainbow of diversity; the multicultural mosaic of both the "Queeruption" and Ford's fans. I noticed in that first... more »

Paul Ryan Does Christmas in July
It's as regular as melting Salvador Dali clockwork: Paul Ryan speaks, and the media-political complex (aka the Permanent American Ruling Class) melts. It's the persistence of false memory and denial of reality. The important people listen, and they are filled with gratitude and awe. Paul Ryan has taken a bold new leap, going where no Republican has gone before! He has devised a brand new Poverty Plan, a starting point from which both political parties can slice and dice the safety net, and then have the nerve to call it a darned good plan for the indigent. 25 Recent Events Causing WW3 They Want You To Forget

Probably not. Americans have short memories. I only remind you to let you know that the U.S. and other Western governments have reversed their stance on regimes killing their own citizens. They now fully endorse and support this rule-with-an-iron-fist so long as the victims can be successfully labeled "separatists" or "terrorists". In fact, they want in on the action. The Propaganda and Politics of MH17
Eric Draitser The downing of Malaysian Airlines flight 17 (MH17) is a tragedy that will be remembered for years to come. However, the way in which the West has distorted the facts about what happened is no mere accident. Rather, it is a clear attempt by Washington and its allies and proxies to capitalize on the incident, using it as a weapon in their continued belligerent and aggressive policies toward Russia. Recent days have seen a deluge of propaganda from both the US government and the Western media (especially US media) which, despite being short on facts, has attempted to p... more »

zucchini abundance recipe of the day: penne with zucchini and fresh herbs
This is probably the easiest way to use zucchini from your garden, and if you're growing herbs, it's an excuse to use those, too. It's also one of those dishes that takes just about anything you like in pasta. I'm keeping it very simple, so as not to drown out the zucchini. I use brown rice pasta. I originally tried it when we thought one of us was celiac, then it became habit. It's delicious and very healthy, but it does need the extra step of rinsing the cooked pasta. If you don't do that, the pasta will all stick together in a one big gluey mess... something I discovered painful... more »

Attorney Trentadue states there was another man with Tim McVeigh at the scene of the Bombing on April 19, 1995—and it wasn’t his brother. The FBI claims McVeigh was alone. Israel Kills To No Purpose
An excerpt from, *"Gaza: Why a ‘Cease-Fire’ is Not enough"* by Juan Cole, July 27, 2014: When ordinary countries fight wars they have war aims. In World War II, the US wanted to defeat Germany militarily, but then to help it return to democracy and to economic health. By 1947 the US would actually be spending a lot of money on Germany’s well-being via the Marshall Plan. Israel has no strategic war aims in Gaza because it has no large scale, long term strategy concerning the Strip. Its war is all about tactics and minutiae. things i heard at the library: an occasional series: #15! one that makes me very happy!
The conversation was simple enough. Teenage girl: "Where is the nonfiction?" Me: "Nonfiction is upstairs, but it's organized according to subject. There should be some nonfiction books on the Bingo display." Teen: "I think they're all gone." Me: "OK, we'll find you something. What would you like to read about?" Teen: "So far I've read one nonfiction book. It was about a man who left the war in Iraq. It was called *The Deserter's Tale*. I loved it." !!!!!!!!!!! Why did this make me so unreasonably happy? 1. the decision "you'll regret for the rest of your life": the reality gap in fictional abortions
The conversation around the movie "Obvious Child" has prompted me to re-visit a long-standing interest of mine, one I share with many other reproductive rights activists: the portrayal of abortion in the mainstream media. I haven't seen "Obvious Child" (I wait for DVD or Netflix, as always), but I've heard that it includes a rarity: an honest and positive portrayal of the choice to terminate a pregnancy. Considering how many women do have abortions - and considering that the choice is usually met with relief and happiness - this shouldn't be exceptional. Yet it is. On fictional TV ... more »
More Twitter folly from another BBC reporter
DB at *Biased BBC* has noted an intriguing change of header on BBC journalist Julie Macfarlane's Twitter feed. It now shows "gun-toting pro-Palestinian flag-wavers", says DB, quipping, "But she’s not trying to make a statement, honest. Just a coincidence". Now, why would DB read anything into that change of header? Well, probably because he's been following her incredibly biased Twitter feed. Please read it for yourselves and see what you think. I think it shows a one-sided BBC journalist in action, albeit the kind of BBC journalist whose bias lies in her re-tweets rather than i... more »
ISRAELIS WAGE TOTAL WAR AGAINST THE GAZA STRIP
Such is the small size of the Gaza Strip, together with the extremely dense way the enclave is populated, and coupled with the devastating way the Israelis have destroyed entire neighbourhoods including homes, hospitals, schools, government buildings and infrastructure as well as the huge loss of civilian life across much of the entire Strip, the Palestinians can be forgiven for thinking that total war is being waged against them. And, as the entire world can see in this day and age of social media, total war, contrary to anything the Israeli propaganda machine is saying, is indeed... more »
Planning for the Unpredictable
*Guest post by Randal O’Toole* How do you plan for the unpredictable? That’s the question facing “planning” organisations writing transportation plans for their regions. Self-driving cars will be on the market in the next 10 years, are likely to become a dominant form of travel in 20 years, and most people think they will have huge but often unknowable transformative effects on our cities and urban areas. Yet not a single regional transportation plan has tried to account for, and few have even mentioned the possibility of, self-driving cars. Instead, many of those plans propose o... more »

In Search of a New Warrior Ethos
It’s not often that a Marine officer writes a book that goes head-to-head with a title currently listed as “Commandant’s Choice” book by the Marine Corps, but in this case, I had little choice but to lay down the sword and take up the pen in order to debunk the honor-bound, shame-based relic of dead Continue reading

August Primaries
There are quite a few of them but the ones progressives have a stake in, in chronological order, are Hawaii (August 9), Wisconsin (August 12), and then a late super-Tuesday on August 26 for Arizona, Florida and Oklahoma. That same day has primaries in Alaska, Missouri, Oregon and Vermont with interesting races but no races that pit a progressive against a shill from the Republican wing of the Democratic Party. Up top is the brand new video from one of the most grassroots campaigns anywhere, the Tom Guild campaign for the open Oklahoma City congressional seat. Guild came in a stro... more »

The Globe and Mail likes to think its Canada's Grey Lady. Well its never been that and now the Grey Lady is obviously as mixed up with strange fruit as any tree rooted in journalism. Dear Leader Harper prints a heroic message. Oh how I struggle to withhold the volcanic puke because I love this country too much to damage it further with my bile. CBC-Ottawa's biased reporting of a pro-Palestine rally -- Not good
By Denis G. Rancourt On July 26, 2014, I was there. I took more than 250 pictures and 8 videos. I followed the demo from start to finish. It was the most vibrant, humanistic, family-oriented demo that I have ever seen in Ottawa. There were more than 2000 participants, possibly as many as 5000 or more, counting those who did not stay the whole time and did not walk to the end-destination. Then

FOOT ON WAR PEDDLE
- I am sick at heart about what Israel (with full US backing) is doing to the people in Gaza. It is more than cruel and shameful beyond imagination. The souls of Israel and the USA are showing to be hollow. There have been many determined protests across this nation in support of the Palestinians. Corporate dominated media though covers all the bases and ensures that the whores in Washington remain submissive and supine. None of us are doing enough to help. - Ukraine is another great travesty, so well scripted that Kiev and Tel Aviv march in l... more »

Is the Common Spent Fuel Pool the Source of Emissions?
Majia's Blog - 1 day ago
I'm not sure whether the recent Fukushima Daiichi emissions are primarily coming from the common spent fuel area or from somewhere else, off screen of the TEPCO cams. If you look at my screenshots below and here: http://majiasblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/fukushima-emissions.html you will notice that the emissions seem to be coming up from the common spent fuel pool building or an offscreen building in that vicinity. This morning the emissions are full of red and purple blotching: <img alt="" height="277" src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAeEAAAFOCAIAAAA+YjJiAAAgAElEQV... more »

What’s so interesting about this Kabuki dance is just how few

"Peace in the Middle East"
Peace in the Middle East: Pat Condell from 2012.
If the U.S. and its vassals truly wanted to know what dastardly deeds Russia is pulling against "innocent" Ukraine, they would either send observers ...or take advantage of unbiased observers such as Human Rights Watch. Here below Human Rights Watch members on the spot have not only found no Russian troops in the Russian-speaking province of Donetsk, or firing across the Russia-Donetsk border at these innocent civilians (as the U.S. alleges), but they have painstakingly determined that rockets that have been destroying buildings and murdering inhabitants of Donetsk have been fired from areas under the control of the neocon/neo-Nazi Ukrainian government (which the U.S. supports). Clearly Russia is innocent of what the U.S. and its vassals allege justifies nuclear war against Russia. Is all human life on earth to be eradicated due to the lies of Washington as promulgated by the despicable "mainstream media" and blindly accepted by the gullible American people?
