WE CAN'T AFFORD THE PIVOT
I'm at the Washington airport waiting to fly home. The three days of
meetings on Obama's "pivot" of 60% of US military forces into the

almost daily basis alleging that the BBC treads on eggshells when reporting
on misdeeds by UK Muslims.

foreigners here become twenty, they can no longer remain in Taiwan on their

"When looking for bias, one invariably finds it", says one of the BBC's
defenders at the *Guardian *website (in the thread beneath the report
mentioned in the last post).
It's a theme I used to dwell on quite a bit here, and it's one that those
who blog about BBC bias should always have at the back of their minds,
acting like a smoke detector.
As someone who tunes into Radio 4's *Sunday* with the express purpose of
monitoring it for bias, I am certainly "looking for bias". Almost
"invariably" I "find it" too.

These were the words used by The International Tennis Federation who have
suspended Tunisia from the Davis Cup tennis tournament after Tunisian
player Malek Jaziri was ordered not to compete against an Israeli opponent
last month. The International Tennis Federation said there was no room for
prejudice in sport and the one-year ban was a "fitting penalty".

Long before men and women became humans, even millions of years before they
were polar bears ;-), these people experienced the sensations related to
the heat and coldness. When it was warmer, they usually felt pleasant. When

Talking of opinion polls, the *Observer *has published another one about
the BBC today, confirming that more people think the BBC is biased towards
the Left than towards the Right.
Around 41% think the BBC displays some bias. Of these, 27% say it leans to
the left and 14% say it favours the right. Overall, 37% of people polled
think the corporation is neutral in its news reporting while 26% do not
know.

Is the writing on the wall for the BBC licence fee?
The *Sunday Telegraph*'s assault on the BBC continues.
They commissioned the polling company ICM to ask the public about the BBC
licence fee, and the results are startling, with 70% of voters responding
that the licence fee "should be abolished or cut".
That figure breaks down into 49% saying the fee should be completely
abolished, and 21% saying that the present £145.50 fee should be cut. Only
10% were willing to see the fee increase in line with inflation, and only
0.3% supported an above-inflation rise.

Noe Torres and Ruben Uriarte have become two of the most prolific writers
of UFO lore and they had produced a new book, *The Coyame Incident*. This

*The Jewish Press* is reporting that "Holocaust denial" has now been
officially defined:
The International Alliance for Holocaust remembrance (IHRA), comprised of
31 member states, the UN and UNESCO have accepted a universal definition of
