I had the startled realization last night that Thanksgiving is next week.
My husband's birthday is at the end of the week and this month has gone
entirely too fast. Losing a week to my daughter's surgery made this month
zip right on by me. Every month I try to make a new quiet book page for my
daughter's quiet book. It keeps her interested longer if there are new
options and I honestly enjoy making them. This month's quiet book page
comes together really quick, in probably less than a half hour.

Bono 10,000: Is giving poor Hondurans money creating real change?
paul at Paying attention - 21 minutes ago
President Porfirio Lobo hands out the Bonos... and helps his party's
election campaign
Instead of all those complicated, multi-year Honduran development projects,
why not just give poor people money?
The Bono 10,000 program takes that approach. Families - supposedly the
poorest - get 10,000 lempiras a year, about $500.
That’s big money. Many people work full-time for $2,000 a year or less.
When it’s Bono time, trucks full of campesinos head into Copan Ruinas and
other centres, several families, moms, dads and kids, standing in the back
of each pickup.
This year, smiling politicians ... more »

of states taking steps to ensure that teachers — and students training to
be teachers — know how to read data so they can better meet student needs.
“We’ve seen a little gain in this area, but still Tennessee is in a small
group here,” said Elizabeth Dabney, DQC senior associate.
Tennessee also gained ground this year by creating rules around how the
data is used, including safeguarding privacy.

Dowd invents way to discuss family feud!

*Cali commenter nails it:* We’ll let the commenter from California
speak.
He comments on Maureen Dowd's new column, in which the pundit
manufactures
a reason to discuss the utterly insignificant Cheney family feud:
COMMENTER FROM CALIFORNIA (11/20/13): *This is the second day in a
row*that a NYT columnist has devoted precious column space to the drama
behind
a Senate race that has been all but determined in Enzi's favor.
*I'm sympathetic to the sentiments behind the NYT commenters lambasting
the
Cheneys. Schadenfreude is a dish best served en masse.*

More songs about buildings and food
is that not what the talking heads said
now twenty years later its
all we should be talking about
this endless stream to taking
is about to come to to an abrupt
halt
Finical manipulation can
no longer put food on the table
in lands where climate change
has decided the growth must die
Bunker down or move up
we are on fire
we know it

I was going to the sand
and I thought about it
for a very long time
Hawaii is place
that is out of time
its just paradise
as defined in the

Been there done that
would not disagree
but if I won the lottery
it would be days of lays
for you and me.

The newest round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations begin
today in Salt Lake City, Utah, where trade representatives will work
towards finalizing the text of this sprawling secret agreement. Last week's
publication of the controversial "Intellectual Property" chapter by
Wikileaksconfirmed our worst fears: the TPP carries draconian copyright
enforcement provisions that threaten users' rights and could stifle
innovation well into the 21st Century. Public opposition to the TPP
continues to gro... more »
My response to Evan Burgos for his misleading article today on the JFK assassination at NBC's site

Dear
Evan,
I’m sorry now I wasted nearly an hour of my life talking to you, Evan.
The one quote from me you used from me in your article on the Kennedy

I am singing I am in full voice
this world is the best of the worst
so tell me know
and do mont comports

that most vexes the experts
Its the hidden economy

Yep some people they prey
upon the body politic
its their great payday
When a talking point
about businesses
is key to a new front
about living
we should all be
afraid that the mob
is picking and choosing
where we will have a suitable grave
They are bad boys always and again
and I see no evidence
that the theory they control the government
is just some one saying when/

Unintended outcome ... for the win!
Cue the shrieeeking from Ford Nation and other rightwing nut jobs.
Has Ezra Levant seen this?
The above is probably a consequence of Rob's incoherent rant at Toronto
City council on Monday.
