Pope Francis and the right-wing bubble:

In Arlington National Cemetery, there is a white headstone, which, like so many others, marks the final resting place of a courageous service-member who gave his life in combat. This grave belongs to Kareem Khan of New Jersey, who was just 20 years old. Kareem was Muslim.
Kareem’s rank was that of Specialist in the Stryker Brigade of the U.S. Army’s 2nd Infantry division. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and a medal for good conduct. Like thousands of other soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, Kareem Khan sacrificed everything for his country. Kareem gave, as President Abraham Lincoln said, “the last full measure of devotion” for the United States.
But yesterday, I watched on “Meet the Press” as a Republican candidate for President denigrated Kareem Khan and all Muslim-Americans. Ben Carson questioned Muslim-Americans devotion to the United States. He questioned their integrity. And then Ben Carson unilaterally disqualified every Muslim-American from becoming President of the United States.
Shame on him. Shame on any person who spews such vile, hateful rhetoric. The nearly three million Muslim in this country are part of the fabric of America. They teach in our schools, fight in our military, and serve in Congress. Congressmen Keith Ellison of Minnesota and Andre Carson of Indiana – both Muslim – have represented their districts and states with distinction.
Sadly, this is just another example of Republican candidates refusing to speak for three million Muslim Americans. We saw it last week with Donald Trump, as he refused to denounce bigotry at his own campaign rally. If these Republican candidates are incapable of going to bat for America’s Muslim community, then they shouldn’t run for President of the United States.
I call upon every Republican to denounce Ben Carson’s disgusting remarks. That shameful intolerance and bigotry should have no place in America today. Sadly, it seems to have a lasting place in the Republican Party. Republicans should open their eyes and take note of the contributions of our country’s Muslim community. Until they do, none of them will be worthy of leading this nation.

Harper and friends have changed the face of Canadian politics.
Excuse my confusion. Isn't Obama a Democratic President who retargeted  US attacks away from Iraq to Afghanistan, added drone strikes on many nations...while governments fell in Egypt, Libya...and Syria is currently being torn to shreds. I thought the GOP responsibility meme was the excuse to put Obama in...and it made what difference, exactly ? It isn't as if corporate aims are going to be that different for those funding  the bipartisan war party.

By this picture we're not supporting any side; Just there's a couple of questions:
Why Assad is called as a dictator and Gulf kings are not?
Why Syria needed democracy and Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, ... need not?

Do drug makers gouge consumers? Is the sky blue? Martin Shkreli, CEO of Turing Pharmaceuticals (pictured below in a photo posted on his Twitter feed) announced today the company would reduce the cost of its drug Daraprim, a 62-year-old treatment for a dangerous parasitic infection. Lest you think the company is being generous, the New York Times reported recently that it had raised Daraprim’s price more than 5000 percent -- from $13.50 a pill to $750 a pill. (It once sold for $1 a pill.) As recently as Monday, Shkreli had defended the price increase by saying the drug had been priced too low and the company needed more profits in order to invest in research and development.
In this instance, public outrage caused one drug company to change its pricing on one drug (we still don’t know how big the price reduction will be), but thousands of drugs are being marketed at exorbitant prices. Drug companies always defend themselves by saying they need more profits to pay for R&D -- but they’re spending billions each year advertising and marketing (often tens of millions on a single drug), paying doctors to prescribe their drugs, paying generics to delay marketing cheaper versions, and shoveling out hundreds of millions on lobbying and on political campaigns. They’ve thereby prevented Medicare from using its bargaining leverage to get lower drug prices, and made it illegal for Americans to shop at foreign pharmacies for cheaper versions of the same drugs.
And now the Administration has nominated someone to head the FDA who’s been taking money from Big Pharma for years.
Don’t be fooled by this one seeming illustration of corporate responsibility. The entire industry is about as irresponsible as they come.

Not that things are different elsewhere.

Yes, you read that right: the Harper government believes that voters shouldn't be informed when there's evidence election fraud occurred, but anyone who might have evidence they want to destroy should be warned that an investigation is coming. "This is a courtesy call from Elections Canada telling you to fire up the shredder, because we're going to be sending around an investigator tomorrow. Just don't tell the voters, okay?"

The majority of Canadians expect to see voter fraud this election, which isn't surprising considering fraud was a part of every one of the last three elections.

Canada needs a more honest government. We could hardly find or imagine a less honest one. Just don't imagine that Elections Canada will serve as a watchdog to the fairness of Canada's elections this time around: they have been muzzled.

So here is the Harper Strategy! Say little or nothing because you don't want to confuse the truly ignorant. Avoid events where people may have a question or something intelligent to say. Don't put yourself in situations where you might be compared with alternative views. Leave the other parties to "fight it out" as a divide and conquer strategy. There is no debate - if you are an ignorant bigot you will vote for Steven Harper and he will protect you from the harm of knowing any better.
Time for the Liberals and NDP to stop arguing and start honest discussions about their different platforms and how they will restore democracy to Canada. It may also be time to start talking about coalition where good ideas and policies can be acted upon.
After reading this friends, please share. HE'S VERY CORRECT

Many people who work for Congress -- from food workers to janitors -- aren't paid a living wage. You'd think this would have made the headlines before now, but Congress gets away with this the same way many big corporations do -- by subcontracting the work to companies that pay their workers no more than the minimum wage. On Thursday the Pope will address a joint session of the U.S. Congress. Perhaps he'll mention that fairness and equal opportunity begin at one's own doorstep. (See article below.)
