Help Blue America Give Away $15,000 To 3 Candidates
We planned to spend this $15,000 on an independent project to help one of the Blue America candidates. But then we thought that the candidates could probably spend it more effectively than we could at this point in the game. They all need the money for their Get-Out-The-Vote field operations. So we're going to give $5,000 each to 3 candidates. Which 3? That's up to you. Just vote for the 3 you think will spend the money best or need it most or deserve it most or... whatever criterion you want to use. [image: Goal Thermometer]How to vote-- easy. Forget the A-10 Warthog: The Army Wants the F-35
*Kris Osborn* *Security, * An F-35 might be better positioned to respond quickly to enemy force movement; in the event that enemy air threats emerge in a firefight, an F-35 could address them in a way an A-10 could not, obviously; an F-35 would be much better positioned to locate enemy long-range fires points of combat significance and destroy hostile artillery, mortar or long-range-fires launching points. The US Army wants the F-35 to support its ground troops. It’s that simple. We hear volumes of information about the Marine Corps vertical-take-off-and-landing F-35B, Navy carr... more »
EU in Brussels Rejects Italian Budget
In case you think that the EU is a collection of free democratic countries... After weeks of back and forth between Brussels and the populist coalition government in Rome, the European Union's Commission has rejected the Italian budget and told the government to draft another, Il Giornale reports. A Marker of a Disjunctive President
We have a long-running debate on the blog about whether Donald Trump is a disjunctive president. In other words, does he represent the end of a particular party system (the Reagan coalition)? This label comes from the influential work of Stephen Skowronek, who analyzed the presidency in relation to the prevailing party system of the day. A common theme that links the disjunctive presidents is that their party did poorly in the first set of midterm elections following their own election. This foreshadowed their defeat for reelection two years later. Skowronek identifies four disjunct... more »
US Fueling Terrorism in China
*October 24, 2018* (Tony Cartalucci - NEO) - The West's human rights racket has once again mobilized - this time supposedly in support of China's Uyghur minority centered primarily in the nation's northwestern region of Xinjiang, China. Headlines and reports have been published claiming that up to a million mostly Uyghurs have been detained in what the West is claiming are "internment camps." "Too heavy" leads to "Too slow" leads to . . . dead?
Strategy Page outlines the dilemma facing the designers of modern infantry protective gear. The U.S. Army finally (in 2017) agreed to do a study of the impact of the weight American infantry carry into combat and the impact of that weight on performance. The troops have been complaining about this weight issue for some time. The average weight carried is 54 kg (119 pounds) and while about a third of that can be dropped in an emergency, most of it (weapons and protective gear) cannot. The IOTV (Improved Outer Tactical Vest) and helmet account for a third of the weight. Worse the IOT... more »

China's Air Force Has One Big Problem It Can't Seem to Solve
*J. Tyler Lovell, Robert Farley* *Security, Asia* Engine issues... *For now, it appears that the PRC must make difficult choices if it is to master fighter engine design, and thus maximize the effectiveness of its air arm.* The Chinese defense industrial base is infamous for its tendency to “borrow” from foreign designs, particularly in the aerospace industry. The US Is Linking Hezbollah With The Cartels To Advance The Anti-Iranian Infowar

The real take home is that no amount of training will change out your true biological limits. After sixty miles you are no longer running in the zone, but courting real damage in order to achieve your target which is arbitrary at best. For most folks, the actual marathon is ultimately achievable. For some of those who are over committed, 60 miles is actually doable and safe enough. Any... more »
