  • Lone 18-year-old kills 18 people, many of them teens, in shooting and bomb attack at college, Russia says

At least 18 people, many of them teenagers, were killed, and over 50 others were injured in a bomb and shooting attack at a college in Crimea that local officials said was carried out by a student. Russia’s Investigative Committee, the equivalent of the FBI, said it believed the attacker was Vladislav Roslyakov, a fourth-year student at the college which is in the Black Sea city of Kerch on Crimea's east coast. Roslyakov was captured on CCTV entering the college holding a gun shortly before the shooting began, said Svetlana Petrenko, a spokeswoman for the committee.

  • Trump threatens to send army to close Mexican border in angry early-morning tweet attacking host of central American countries

Donald Trump has threatened to send the US military to close the Mexican border, in an angry early morning tweet attacking Democrats and a number of central American countries. Without providing any evidence, he went on to allege an “assault on our country” by Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador led by his political opponents and repeated a threat made earlier this week to cut off humanitarian aid. “I am watching the Democrat Party led (because they want Open Borders and existing weak laws) assault on our country by Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, whose leaders are doing little to stop this large flow of people, INCLUDING MANY CRIMINALS, from entering Mexico to U.S,” he said.
