Why is no one asking about Jeremy Corbyn’s worrying connections? Per James Bloodworth in The Guardian in 2015
Don't say that you weren't warned. Read the whole piece, it's on the money apart from... "I genuinely believe that Corbyn does not have an antisemitic bone in his body" - that now seems wishful thinking or delusional. 'Then there is Corbyn's apparent proximity to antisemitism. While I genuinely believe that Corbyn does not have an antisemitic bone in his body, he does have a proclivity for sharing platforms with individuals who do; and his excuses for doing so do not stand up. Take the fact that Corbyn once described it as his "honour and pleasure" to host "our friends" from Hamas ... more »
Could a Skin Tag Be a Warning Sign for Heart Disease?
Millions of people have evidence of danger lurking inside their body. That evidence is right before their eyes. It is a skin tag. ROCKMAKERS: Aristotelian assumption destroyed!
*TUESDAY, AUGUST 14, 2018Part 2—These professors today:* At tribalized times like these, can you believe a thing you hear, even from tribal leaders? Plainly, the answer is no. At times like these, the "Aristotelian assumption"—the assumption that we the humans will tend to behave in rational ways—gives way to the "Harari heuristic," which suggests that gossip, and affirmation of fictions, will more likely characterize the conduct in the town square. A heuristic is a mental shortcut, a provisional rule of thumb. It tells us where we can most sensibly start in assessing, characteri... more »

Primaries Today
Today, voters are at the polls in Vermont, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Connecticut. (In 2 weeks, on August 28, Florida and Arizona.) The most important state to watch-- and to vote in-- today is Wisconsin. Most of the contested primaries are on the Republican side. The Republicans hope to take on U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin and of the 5 combatants, it's come down to a race between Ken doll and former Democrat Kevin Nicholson and state Senator Leah Vukmir. Iraq Says It Will Only Follow Partial Sanctions On Iran
(Iraqi News) The Trump administration just re-imposed sanctions on Iraq for its nuclear program. Prime Minister Haidar Abadi announced that Iraq would follow the U.S. lead, only to have his media office backtrack a few days later. Following sanctions is extremely difficult for Iraq. Iran is not only a major trade partner, but provides essentials such as electricity. Iraq also is a major source of U.S. dollars for Tehran. Iraq didn’t follow Obama era sanctions on Iran, and will likely do the same under Trump. On August 10, Prime Minister Abadi told the media that his government wo... more »

Suing the President for ACA Sabotage
I have been detailing the GOP sabotage of Obamacare here and elsewhere for several years now. President Trump's blatant and boastful use of his executive authority to dismantle a law that has twice been upheld by the Supreme Court and that Congress has not repealed after more than 50 attempts to do so takes that sabotage to a new level. A year ago, I argued that the President's actions amount to a Take Care clause violation. A lawsuit was finally filed last month, by several cities, making that claim. This is not a question of whether a president has discretion in statutory imple... more »

Camus on Nietzsche’s Rebellion
In *The Rebel*, Albert Camus discusses Friedrich Nietzsche in detail. He presents Nietzsche as the philosopher who has understood that nihilism is the decisive crisis of modernity. But Nietzsche’s nihilism is not without moral restraints and it aims to be the fountainhead of a rebellion. Nietzsche believed that one can only create good or evil by first destroying all values. In *The Genealogy of Morals*, he says, “To raise a new sanctuary, a sanctuary must be destroyed, that is the law.” Here’s an excerpt from Camus’s essay, “Metaphysical Rebellion,” (*The Rebel*, Page: 41): Nietz... more »

The Navy Wants Lots of Ship-Killer Missiles to Fight Russia or China
*David Axe* *Security, * As recently as 2016 the Navy’s warships were badly out-gunned by Russian and Chinese ships. In 2018, the U.S. fleet was on the cusp of reversing that dynamic. In 2016 the U.S. Navy possessed just one surface-launched anti-ship missile type — Boeing’s Harpoon, a munition that first entered the fleet in the 1970s. Two years later, the Navy had added no fewer than five additional ASM types to the fleet and also updated the Harpoon. The fast expansion of the U.S. fleet’s ship-sinking arsenal pointed to escalating seaborne threats from Russia and China. The... more »

The World Has Changed
Paul Koring writes that Canadians got a rude awakening last week: Their beloved country doesn’t matter much, or at least not as much as they like to think. Mexico and the United States are hammering out a new trade deal. Canada isn’t at the table. While Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland twiddles her thumbs (no more impulsive tweets slamming the Saudis, please) and waits to be summoned to Washington, it behooves Canadians to reflect on why Canada is the odd man out in the new NAFTA. John Kennedy once sang the praises of Canada. But he was, first and foremost, looking out for hi... more »

*The Greenie fairy tale* A clean and pure pristine primeval planet earth existed for a billion years in natural perfection, wholeness, and wholesomeness – unpolluted, untainted, untarnished and uncorrupted in the perfection of the harmony of nature. The geology, biology, and climatology were in a state of perfection. The climate was stable and unchanging with no extreme weather. Progressivism
If George Orwell was alive today, he'd look at the "progressive movement" and would likely say, "they're going according to plan." Donald J. Trump stuck a finger (from his large hands) into the eye of that movement and they are still trying to cope with his win over the RINO's and Corrupt Hillary Clinton - either of which would have served the deep state faithfully. It's all quite interesting.

Chopsticks that give you an electric shock???
I'm a bit mind-boggled by what promises to be a genuine taste sensation - albeit not the sort of sensation I want anywhere near my mouth! Scientists have developed a pair of chopsticks, that can make food taste saltier, sour or bitter without the need for extra seasoning. They are also working on a spoon and fork that could make food taste spicier or sweeter. * . . .* The utensils work by delivering pulses of electricity to the tip of the tongue to stimulate the taste buds. Today’s smoothie is a beautiful color
Carrot juice fresh beets from farmers’ market strawberries (also farmers’ market, locally grown) banana mango slices (frozen) This is a very bright color since I didn’t add any greens, but probably not the powerhouse it would be with spinach or watercress. When I went to the small, local grocery, Ray just gave me a bunch of brown bananas, so I cut them into slices and froze them for another day. And he also had that home made carrot cake, delicious and moist, so that added another vegetable for dinner!
Fearing Risk; Fearing Reality
Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, I attended a conference in Bozeman, Mont. Bozeman is a delightful place in the southeast corner of the state. It's home to a university and close to Yellowstone National Park. In late summer (when I went) it's a magical area of the country. But it is also (forgive me for saying so) pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Flights go from Bozeman to Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Denver—maybe a few other places as well, but you get the idea. The jets that fly there are generally smaller, and they don't go too far away. The recent outcry over the TSA’s ini... more »

Qanon Media Deconsolidation
On the corporate front two major initiatives have long been powerfully indicated.I have little doubt that they are underway in the planning stages since Trump landed. The easy one is the breakup of the Too big to fail crowd and the reestablishment of the original regulatory regime separating ordinary retail banking from any form of investment banking. This was changed just as clinton left office and led directly to the 2008 crash and the need for 'quantative easing' or money printing. The more difficult is the smashing of all forms of media monopoly whatsoever. Their access to ... more »
