Picture Of The Day
The Air Force recently approved two initiatives for the remotely piloted aircraft career field. Eight RPA reconnaissance squadrons will be redesignated as attack squadrons, and the Air Force has also authorized RPA aircrews to log combat time when flying an aircraft within designated hostile airspace, regardless of the aircrew's physical location. A Strategic Analysis Of The Islamic State
BBC *Dean Shumate, Small Wars Journal*: *What’s in a Name: A Strategic Analysis of The Islamic State* Introduction Since 2014, the international community has seen the spread of The Islamic State (IS) throughout Iraq, Syria, Libya, and parts of Afghanistan. IS has been referenced by many names, but which is correct? The current presidential candidates argue how IS grew and conquered territory the size of Israel. The Democrats state if the U.S. never invaded Iraq in 2003, there would be no IS; conversely, the Republicans argue if a residual force were left behind instead of comple... more »
It Doesn't Matter WHY Independent Voters Dislike Hillary, It Only Matters That They Do
Have you noticed that in state after state, polling starts in Hillary's favor and the more she and Bernie campaign, the closer than race becomes. The more Democratic primary voters see of her, the less they like her and the more they see of him, the more they like him. But, yes, in a lesser-of-two-evils race between Hillary and Trump, she can win. Probably the same holds true if the GOP puts up Cruz. Independents don't like her and they don't trust her-- and they make up over 40% of the electorate. They'll go for her over Trump, or they just won't vote. They embrace Bernie over Tr... more »
“Why younger people can’t afford a house”
Dominic Frisby tells Guardian readers why younger people can’t afford a house. Three reasons: - money became too cheap - planning rules became too numerous, and - it’s in the interests of the political elite to keep them that way. This is not just true for the UK, but every place following their flawed prescription of town planning *plus* fractional-reserve banking. Which is to say, every developed country on the planet. *House prices [in the UK] have **risen by 10% in the last year* * …What that means is that the intergenerational wealth divide just rose by another 10% ... more »
Fifteen 9/11 Hijackers Were Saudi CIA Plants
Fifteen of the 9/11 hijackers were CIA assets hired by the U.S. government tasked with committing the attacks on September 11, 2001, in order further the U.S. and Israel agenda of destroying the Middle East. Former congressman Dr. Kevin Barrett claims the truth about these CIA sponsored Saudi agents may become public if the government decide to declassify the redacted 28-pages on the official 9/11 report. Barrett says the documents prove that Saudi Arabia had a leading role in the attacks, which were ultimately orchestrated by the U.S. government. Presstv.com reports: “It appears t...more »
Scientists Warn Human Cloning Will Lead To Black Market Terror
Advancements in human cloning will lead to a scary black market problem, leading scientists warn. According to a report in the UK Express: While it remains illegal in most countries, including the UK, scientists have reached a point where they are able to clone human embryos on a grand scale. However, it is legal for scientists to follow certain therapeutic cloning procedures, if the sole purpose of it is to study cells. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 allows scientists to study the effects of therapeutic cloning – which is where a nucleus is taken from a cell and tr... more »
Bank Insider Says Panama Papers Leak Was a CIA Operation
A whistleblower working at the UBS bank in Switzerland has claimed that the Panama Papers leak was a CIA operation designed to embarrass countries such as Russia as part of a political propaganda campaign. Bradley Birkenfeld says the 11 million documents stolen from a Panamanian law firm should not be considered genuine. Cnbc.com reports: Instead, he said, the hacking of the Panama City-based firm, called Mossack Fonseca, could have been done by a U.S. intelligence agency. “The CIA I’m sure is behind this, in my opinion,” Birkenfeld said. Birkenfeld pointed to the fact that the poli... more »
I Really Doubt I Needed to Make a Map of Port Henry's Subway System...
The most amusing thing is it's actually still under development. The version I'm working on actually has rerouted some of the lines and given some thought to peak hours service. And I'll need to come up with street names. This probably isn't something that'll actually get any use in our campaign, it's more a function that I'm (1) having fun making a fictional city; (2) have a bit of break between game sessions; (3) love maps; and (4) had a career ambition of being a subway motorman once upon a time. One of my favorite things was going on trips to all sorts of interesting places wi... more »

*Radio Free Europe*:* Demonstrations Continue In Macedonia After Presidential ‘Pardon' In Wiretapping Scandal* Protesters in Macedonia, angry about President Gjorge Ivanov's decision to halt prosecutions of officials linked to a wiretapping scandal, have broken into one of the president's offices. A new paper led by the University of Cape Town and University of the Western Cape, both in South Africa, suggests their jets are all aligned in the same direction. Six Reasons Why We Might Be Aliens
Is it possible that mankind was brought to Earth as part of an alien experiment on evolution? The following list outlines reasons why humans may not be native to this planet, and may have been brought here by an extraterrestrial race who escaped a destroyed world. 1. Sunlight Humans, in contrast with other species, cannot sunbath for more than a given time per day without getting sunburned. This indicates that the human body was not designed for constant exposure to the sun. The same can be said for our eyes, our eyes are very sensitive to the sunlight around us and without being ta... more »
India Vows To Dismantle Monsanto’s Death Grip
Monsanto has been exploiting cotton farmers in India, and now the country is vowing to continue regulating the GMO seed prices as well as protect its farmers. RT reports: Monsanto is being pushed by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept the dictated government price, as India expects to develop its own genetically modified (GM) cotton varieties early next year. In a move to break away from a dependency on American technological know-how in the genetic seed market, India has cut royalties paid by local firms for Monsanto’s seeds by more than 70 percent. Reasonable Doubt
Anyone charged with a criminal offence in Canada is presumed to be innocent. That is just a fancy way of saying that the prosecution must prove someone charged with a crime is guilty. If the prosecution does not prove someone is guilty that case against them fails and they must be acquitted. What proving someone guilty means is not immediately obvious. It could mean it is more likely than not that they committed the crime. Or it could mean they very likely did commit the crime. Or it could mean there is no reasonable doubt but they committed the crime. In Canada the last of... more »

Trump's Not The Only One Like That... Do You Remember Leona Helsmely? And There's Steve Wynn
Remember Leona Helmsley? She had her moment of tabloid fame in the '80s. A crooked real estate agent whose real estate license was suspended, she married an elderly, rich real estate developer who owned the Helmsley Palace, right down the blocked from my NYC office. She was a billionaire who refused it pay contractors who worked for her and was eventually found guilty of tax evasion (and extortion). Big Brother and UFOs
I was channel surfing the other night and came onto a commercial for an upcoming program about a woman who had been abducted and murdered. What caught my attention was that they showed the woman using an ATM, walking in a mall, and later in her car and what looked like the arm of a man who had hidden in the backseat. In other words, her activities on that day had been documented to what I think of as a frightening extent. Nearly her every action was caught on video equipment; all used legally, all installed for safety, and putting all our lives under scrutiny. I’ve seen the same thi... more »

Real money is not debt
In just a few short words, this brief comment captures the primary difference between commodity-backed money (“a specie-backed dollar note” for example), and today’s money (“a fiat-dollar note”) that is simply debt organised into currency. *A specie-backed dollar note is a receipt on unconsumed wealth, on savings. A fiat-dollar note is an IOU on yet-to-be-earned wealth, a debt.* Do you see the problem? *To act as an honest medium of exchange, money must be backed by *un*consumed wealth.* Why? *[**The system of debt-based money* *] is based on a confusion in thinking; that it ... more »

April 13: A slow news day in the Irving press.
This issue of The Saker has a very uncomfortable sense of bias in most of its stories. However, the first story on the site, about the explosion of a Russian civil airliner over Sinai with the deaths of all aboard, has an element that was not mentioned in most western news media. It brought us close to a nuclear war. It's not the first time this has happened. But our press rarely mentions it. And there's a lesson in it. Nuclear stockpiles do NOT deter war. Russian Jets Create Dangerous Waves Around US Warship In Baltic
The Pentagon is up in arms that two Russian jets flew dangerously close to a U.S. destroyer in the Baltic Sea, creating a “wake” in the waters surrounding the warship. The two low flying Russian Su-24s performed a “simulated attack” that goes against military conventions in peacetime, according to the Pentagon. Sputnik reports: While sailing through the Baltic on Tuesday, the USS Donald Cook reported that Russian aircraft performed repeated flybys within 30 feet of the destroyer. Several of these passes were low enough to “create a wake in the sea waters surrounding the ship,” state... more »

Markus Schulz feat Ana Diaz - Nothing Without Me
Pity the poor souls I'll find huddled in the classroom 9am tomorrow morning. Not only do they have to listen to me drone on for three hours about a select topic (Week 11: Sexual Harassment), *I am cruel enough to subject them to my music taste*. Each week I pick out a video and in a quick exercise they're invited to tease out the plot, specify how gender and sexuality is performed, and note anything else of interest. This was going to be tomorrow's choice but, meh, while it's a great song (my number four of 2012) the vid is a touch depthless. I'll park it here anyway.
Waiting For The Next 9/11
*Abraham H. Terrorism against a superpower like the United States is basically political theater. The Economy: “Why ALL Central Planning Is Doomed to Fail…”
*“Why ALL Central Planning Is Doomed to Fail…”* by Bill Bonner “We’re still thinking about how so many smart people came to believe things that aren't true. Krugman, Stiglitz, Friedman, Summers, Bernanke, Yellen – all seem to have a simpleton’s view of how the world works. They believe they can manipulate the future and make it better. "Watch Money..."
"Watch money. Money is the barometer of a society’s virtue. When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion- when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing- when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors- when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you- when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice- you may know that your society is doomed.” - Ayn Rand
BP’s Gulf Oil Spill Behind Baby Dolphin Deaths
The Deepwater Horizon oil spill in 2010 has been linked to the shocking surge in stillbirths and baby dolphin deaths in the Gulf Coast. According to a new study, the dolphins inherited chronic illnesses as their mothers were exposed to oil. Researchers said the findings suggest the dolphins died in the womb or shortly after birth, and their lungs never had a chance to fully develop and inflate. The BP oil spill dumped 4.9 billion gallons of oil into the Gulf Coast over five months before it was capped and now six years on, the disaster is still claiming victims. RT reports: More t... more »

What Will Become Of Iraq’s Hashd When The War is Over?
There are around fifty different Hashd al-Shaabi groups in Iraq. They have different backgrounds and histories. A major question is what will become of them when the war with the Islamic State is over. Some will be disbanded and their men will return to their homes. Some will be integrated into the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF). Some however want to become an independent military-political force in the country. Many of the Iranian backed Hashd have made no secret that they wish to make their presence permanent in the country. A spokesman for the organization Ahmed al-Asadi told Al M... more »

Desperately seeking moderate Muslims
I’ve been trying to think of something to say about the second and final instalment of Owen Bennett-Jones’s programme about the Deobandis. While the first episode focused on their isolationist attitude and suggested that their religious ideas were less moderate as we had been led to believe, the broadcast aired yesterday on radio 4 was concerned with ... well, I’ll paste in the blurb: “In part two of The Deobandis, the BBC's former Pakistan correspondent Owen Bennett Jones reveals a secret history of Jihadist propagation in Britain. This follows the BBC's discovery of an archive ... more »

Those Who Adapt
The Leap Manifesto appears to be tearing the New Democratic Party apart. But, Tom Walkom writes, it's hardly a radical document. And a number of its recommendations are being advocated or implemented: Like Ottawa and virtually every provincial government, the manifesto calls for investment in clean energy projects. As Ontario has found with its windmill policy, this isn’t always a politically painless process. But except for the manifesto’s suggestion that, (as in Germany and Denmark) such projects be community-controlled, it is hardly novel. In fact, the Trudeau Liberals have alr... more »

The New Dems Have A List Of The Next Batch Of Congressional Sell-Outs And Corporate Shills-- Their 2016 Endorsements
Yesterday at this time, we looked at some of the so-called "Democrats" in Congress who are willing to sell out Social Security and Medicare and other programs that make up the safety net. Hang Hillary Clinton for genocide
A popular campaign slogan this election season is "Hillary for Prison." I find that profoundly offensive. Prison would be too good for her. Hillary needs to be tried, convicted, and hanged ... for genocide. Here is an extract from one of Hillary's emails made public by Wikileaks: “The best way to help Israel deal with Iran’s growing nuclear capability is to help the people of Syria overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad. … The fall of the House of Assad could well ignite a sectarian war between the Shiites and the majority Sunnis of the region drawing in Iran, which, in the view of ... more »

Recalibrating the BBC’s scales – Part II
Given its legal obligation to remain impartial, a key feature of the BBC brand of impartiality is its effort to appear impartial. Its starting point, wisely enough, is an appeal to common-sense. Whenever possible, the BBC plays upon the audience’s understanding of even-handedness. To see this let’s return for a moment to domestic politics. One well-established political conception is that of a left and a right wing. Politics is visualised as a horizontal line, stretching from extreme left to extreme right, with all conceivable political viewpoints scattered at one point or another a... more »

In recent days, we had far right pundit Charles Krauthammer predicting that the Republican Party would disinteg... more »
