Stumble Into War*
*World War III may not be as unlikely as you think.Over the last few years,
I have undertaken what most would consider a depressing assignment:
debating and thinking through the possibility of a great-power war in
today’s chaotic international environment. And for good reason. As
Washington attempts to transition away from counterinsurgency operations
and the nightmare that has become the Middle East, new challenges—many from

Cultural Impact Assessments - to protect a dump
If you aren’t already required to file ‘Cultural Impact Assessments’ in
your area, then don’t worry, it won’t be far away – what is born in the
torrid bullshit of the Resource Management Act and fermented in the fetid
dreams of Auckland planners eventually filters down (or up) to the planners
of lesser (or greater) burgs across the country.
These ‘Cultural Impact Assessments,’ or CIAs—along with the approval of
appropriate iwi (plural) --are required every time you propose a project
anywhere near a site that appears in Auckland’s Proposed Unitary Plan as a

Chet Raymo, “Strange”
*“Strange”*
by Chet Raymo
“In a review in the “New York Times” Book Review, Daniel Handler writes:
“And strange? Well, let's get this straight: All great books are strange.
Every lasting work of literature since the very weird "Beowulf" has been
strange, not only because it grapples with the strangeness around us, but
also because the effect of originality is startling, making even the oldest
books feel like brand new stories.”
Strange: Out-of-the-ordinary, unusual, curious. "The strangeness around
us," says Handler. There is a paradox here. What could be less strange than

"Silence from the right on James Comey's race talk" -- Jonathan Capehart wonders why our top G-man was merely "ignored" rather than "trivialized"
*FBI Director James Comey at Georgetown Thursday*

In his column today, "Silence from the right on James Comey's race talk,"
the *Washington Post*'s Jonathan Capehart raises a fascinating point in the
aftermath of the hard-hitting speech given by FBI Director James Comey on
the subject of race and law enforcement Thursday at Georgetown University:
Why, instead of cranking up the Right-Wing Noise Machine, has it been
greeted with stony silence from the Right?
As Jonathan points out, what Director Comey had to say wasn't all that

Kiev Refuses To Publicly Acknowledge The Disaster That Is Unfolding In Debaltseve

Egypt gets UN Sec. Council to discuss intervention against ISIL in Libya

The White House has the gall to criticize Egyptian air strikes against ISIS

The Matrix Program is Crashing
Zen Gardner
It is. It’s outdated programming and the engineers of deceit can’t keep up.
The vibrational changes are exceeding their capabilities. You know how your

Greece Rejects Bailout Deal – Deadline To Avoid Financial Chaos In Europe Is March 1st

Europe is on the verge of a horrifying financial meltdown, and there are
only a few short weeks left to avert total disaster. On Monday, talks that

Legal Weed Is Killing Drug Cartels

Nick Sorrentino writes that Legal US Weed Is Killing Drug Cartels:
It makes sense. We have argued for a long time that ending pot prohibition

Marijuana is by far the illicit drug of choice in the USA. Even though weed

R. v. Magno, 2015 ONCA 111 is an interesting case for manslaughter

Vaccine Wag the Dog Underway to Take Away Parents Rights

Vaccines and measles are big news. But what is not being reported? As

In an incredible and ongoing draconian response to the media hyped ‘measles

How Public Schools Treat Special Needs Students: Handcuffs, ‘Scream Rooms’ And Duct Tape

restraints used on special needs children include handcuffs, duct tape and

Demonizing Scientists And Opponents Of GMOs: The Cheap Propaganda Of The Pro-GMO Lobby
RINF, The 4th Media, Countercurrents, Global Research 17/2/2015
The pro-GMO lobby always demands that its opponents produce scientific
evidence to back up their claims. Parts of this lobby smear and attack
people like Vandana Shiva, Professor G.E. Seralini and others for
supposedly being incompetent, ‘liars’ or ideological/politically motivated
(for example, read this piece on Shiva that calls her a liar, especially
the part on farmer suicides - then see the evidence that Shiva provides to
back up her claims here).

Russia Angles to Snatch $20Bln Indian Fighter Jet Deal From France
[image: MiG-35 Fulcrum-F]Russia may be leveraging India's anger at French

ATLAS, CMS: small SUSY deviations
Both ATLAS and CMS, the two main detectors at the Large Hadron Collider,

When Tony Abbott and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met last year,
Japan was clearly the Australian Prime Minister's preference for one of
