  • Leslie Smith on facing Cris Cyborg: 'I seriously can't believe that nobody else wanted this fight'

It was just a few hours after her fight with Rin Nakai in Brisbane, Australia and Leslie Smith was walking around the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary with her boyfriend Kevin Lum. Smith saw a notification on her phone from UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby, but thought it was a mistake. About an hour later, Smith ran into Shelby at the zoo. He told her that the UFC was still looking for an opponent for Cris Cyborg at UFC 198 and the promotion was having trouble finding someone for her to face. Lum said Smith had sparred with Cyborg before. And Smith added that she'd absolutely be interested in fighting the Brazilian superstar. The fight became a reality not too long after. And the UFC made it official by

  • Autistic boy shows up for standardized test with his service dog. Here’s what happened next.

The Florida testing outrages just keep on coming. Last month, I wrote about Paula Drew, a mom who asked the Florida Education Department for a standardized-testing exemption for her daughter,  15-year-old Madison Drew, who has cerebral palsy, suffers from a number of conditions related to her condition that have left her unable to speak and takes several medications daily to prevent seizures, which can affect her cognitive abilities. The department said no. I have in recent years published posts about a boy named Michael who was born without the cognitive part of his brain but was made by the same Florida Education Department to take an alternative state-mandated standardized test. Michael, as
