Pale 'Crawler' Encounter & Attack in Rural Kentucky
This is an important report. I have speculated that the pale crawler is the female vertsion of the Giant Sloth but this mostly argues against that. Particularly since we have seen fully furred creatures without the male upper body that are also robust. Right now we truly lack good information. The paleness suggests that this creature is plausibly an undergound dweller but again we do not know. Certainly it is in terrain given to such access. After I reread this report, it appears we are dealing with a feral human raised by a four legged nursing animal. This at least saves us... read more

But if the nature of geopolitical struggle never changes, the character of individual struggles is forever changing. How might warmaking technology and methods devised since the days of Hitler and Stalin shape the course of a future war? The Navy's New Tactical Nuclear Warhead Caused Quite a Stir in Congress
*Sebastien Roblin* *Submarines, Americas* Whether the W76-2 improves American security is much more about psychology than technology. *Here's What You Need to Know*: With the policy fight resolved in the weapon’s favor in Congress, the new warheads should soon enter service on *Ohio*-class submarines if they have not already, giving them a new tactical nuclear capability along with their established strategic nuclear mission. *(This article first appeared in December 2019.)* It was a small, obscure-sounding item in the 2020 defense budget—a mere $19.6 million to procure W76-2... read more

These Five Thinkers Are the Greatest Strategic Minds in Military History
*James Holmes* *Military Affairs, Global* Many of the greats seem to be indifferent practitioners who started scribbling down their insights after being defeated, cashiered, or both. Maybe failure clears the mind. It hardly renders their ideas moot. *Here's What You Need to Remember: *You need both doers and thinkers to perpetuate strategic thought—but ultimately, the thinker with a feel for battlefield realities trumps the practitioner with little flair for analyzing his experiences, drawing out the takeaways, and recording the results. Hence, wordsmiths, not commanders, dominat... read more
Took Social Security Too Early? You Can Un-Claim Those Benefits
*Trevor Filseth* *Social Security, * The Social Security Administration (SSA), established in 1935 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, is responsible for paying retirement benefits to America’s senior citizens and retirees. *Here's What You Need to Remember: *Usually, once the decision to claim Social Security is made, there is no going back—one’s payments remain basically the same for life. However, if less than a year has passed, a person can un-claim the benefits by reimbursing the Social Security Administration for the checks that they already cashed. The Soviet Union was still seen as the ally that had helped defeat Nazi Germany, and many Americans revered the sacrifices of the Russians, who lost more than 20 million troops and civilians in the fight against Nazism.
