Cult nation?
I'm very familiar with religious cults, from a professional perspective (as
a former pastor and chaplain) and from counseling those trapped in them,
trying to help them break free. I've seen signs of cult-like behavior on
the extremes of the American political spectrum, but I've never consciously
equated the two fields. Now the Federalist makes the resemblance clear.
Consider for a moment today’s culture, which is saturated with the constant
agitation of political correctness. It rarely allows for any real
discussion or debate without automatic vilification of those deemed

Cyber Deterrence is an Oxymoron for Years to Come

*Security, *
For cyber deterrence to make any sense for state actors, they need some
concrete indicators of others’ offensive cyber capabilities. Thus, in order
to develop even a rudimentary cyber deterrence framework, states need some
lessons learned from the effects of “cyber weapons” and cyber war.
For more than two decades after the end of the Cold War, Western states
were able to redefine international security and associated rules related
to the use of military force within the globalizing international system.
During this period, between 1989/1991–2013, ma... more »

The brutal expansion of the NATO is very visible since 1999 and even

Why active Trench warfare in WW1?
Excellent answer here. The real problem was lack of movement allowing any

Three Men Now Control The Price Of Oil

*Julian Lee, World Oil/Bloomberg*: *The oil price is now controlled by just
three men*
NEW YORK CITY (Bloomberg) -- OPEC has lost what control of the oil market
it ever had. The actions (or tweets) of three men — Presidents Donald Trump
and Vladimir Putin and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman — will determine
the course of oil prices in 2019 and beyond. But of course they each want
different things.
While OPEC struggles to find common purpose, the U.S., Russia and ... more »
"Why Does America Have 13 Million Households That Don’t Have Enough Food To Eat?"
*"Why Does America Have 13 Million Households *
*That Don’t Have Enough Food To Eat?"*
by Michael Snyder
"Have you ever had a day when your children were crying due to hunger but
the cupboards were completely bare and your bank account was empty? If you
haven’t, you should consider yourself to be extremely blessed, because this
is what real life feels like for millions upon millions of Americans in
2018. As you will see below, a third of all Americans cannot even afford
“the basics” each month, and 13 million households are officially
considered to be “food insecure”. In other words... more »
Gaza Battle-- Israel Loses Politically

Earlier this week the Israeli military and armed groups in Gaza clashed in
the worst fighting since their 2014 war. Israeli planes bombed
Palestinians, killing seven, wounding 26 and destroying numerous office and
apartment buildings. Palestinian groups fired rockets and mortars into
Israel, killing one civilian and wounding 18. Both sides agreed to an
uneasy ceasefire, but the key political issue... more »

Is A Chinese Economic Slowdown The Next Major Crisis?

*Josh Rudolph, Atlantic Council*: *Will China’s Economic Slowdown Lead to a
Major Crisis? *
China has incurred the largest debt buildup in recorded economic
history—and the prognosis is not good. The International Monetary Fund
surveyed five-year credit booms near the size of China’s and found that
essentially all such cases ended in major growth slowdowns and half also
collapsed into financial crises.
A 50 percent chance of a financial crisis for the world’s second-largest
economy would represent one of the greatest threats to the ... more »
Meet the 5 Best .45 Caliber Handguns on the Planet
*Kyle Mizokami*
*Security, *
Do you agree?
*In reality, the Glock 21 is actually one of the best, and most affordable,
.45 ACP pistols on the market.*
The .45 Automatic Colt Pistol round, or .45 ACP as it is commonly known, is
fairly controversial. Invented in 1905 by prolific firearms designer John
Moses Browning, the .45 ACP was the standard caliber of the Colt M1911
pistol, and remains so to this day. A heavy, subsonic bullet, a typical .45
ACP weighs twice as much as the 9mm Luger round and delivers a third more
energy.

Check Out the Sig Sauer P226: The Navy SEALs Gun Being Replaced by Glock
*Kyle Mizokami*
*Security, *
Sig Sauer had a good quarter-century run arming America’s naval commandos,
and now the torch is passed to Glock.
*The P226 in SEAL service became known as the Mk. 25. The handgun was a
derivative of the original Sig P10, a highly successful handgun in its own
right, but updated with modern features*
For three decades, the U.S. Navy’s Sea Air Land (SEAL) special-forces teams
relied on a pistol apart from the rest of the American military. While the
Army, the Marine Corps and even the rest of the Navy toted the
Beretta M9 pistol, Navy SEALs carried an ... more »
Meet the Kel-Tec PMR-30: The Deadliest Handgun on Planet Earth?
*Kyle Mizokami*
*Security, *
Here's all we know.
*One major drawback for a .22 WMR gun is the ability for even novice
shooters to repeatedly score hits on the target. Higher-caliber handguns
generate significant amounts of recoil, making it difficult to hit the
target with follow-up shots. A low-recoil gun makes it easier to plant more
shots where you want them, opening up multiple wound channels.*
The Kel-Tec PMR-30 is a rarity among handguns on the market today: a pistol
with a magazine holding more than seventeen rounds. The PMR-30 actually
holds thirty rounds and does so wi... more »

What's this?
This clown (me) said yesterday that he was retiring....... and now he posts
another post?
Well, it's a bit like some-one hooked on drugs.....trying to give it up.
I had an interesting comment from some-one who has been a long time
commenter on OUR blog, Alan Vaughn.
I don't know Alan from a bar of soap, but his comments over the years have
been on mark.
His comment on yesterday's post:
Well this is sad news for me Geoff, yet I can certainly empathize.
Describing it as slamming your head against a brick wall doesn't begin to
describe frustration we both share, along ... more »
This Is How Children Become Jihadists
*France 24:* *'Of Fathers and Sons,' a bleak look at children training for

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - A group of children giggle as they play in a dusty,
barren landscape near their home in northern Syria, but this is no ordinary
game of catch, for their ball is a live bomb.
The macabre game of chicken is one of the most blood-chilling scenes in "Of
Fathers and Sons," filmmaker Talal Derki's disturbing new expose on the
grip of Islamism in his native Syria.
"This is the scene that broke my heart," Derki told AFP in an interview in
Los Angeles this week, recalling the blood-chilli... more »
