*"An ‘Extreme Warning’ from Our Doom Index"* by Bill Bonner "When we left you yesterday, we were describing why the situation is getting dangerous for investors, and how the lessons learned over the last 30 years may backfire in the next crisis. ‘Dow over 26,000…bitcoin under $10,000,’ reports this morning’s news…’but could crypto panic spill over into stocks?’ Investors are accustomed to depending on the Greenspan-Bernanke-Yellen put…which is to say, they are pretty sure that the feds will come in with more booze when the party starts to flag. ‘Buy the dip,’ they tell each other,... more »

Strange Anomalies on Sunshine Coast

Children are born to believe, to accept as true what they are told by adults. An innate credulity has survival value in a dangerous world. The day's blow rang out, metallic- or it was I, a bell awakened, and what I heard was my whole self saying and singing what it knew: I can." ~ Denise Levertov

Is the Army Testing a Super Gun to Replace the M4?
*Task and Purpose, Jeff Schogol* *Security, * Bigger, faster, stronger. To paraphrase the legendary military theorist Carl von Clausewitz: Everything in small arms is simple, but the simplest thing is difficult. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley has waged a relentless war against the Department of Defense’s acquisition process (hereafter referred to as “purgatory”) to replace the decades-old weapons currently in soldiers’ kit with new pistols and other small arms. So far, he’s had some major successes on the pistol front with the Army’s adoption of the Sig Sauer P320 as the X... more »

After an aerial drone attack by Syrian rebels on two Russian bases in Syria, and with Russia basing large warships in the Syrian port of Tartus, Moscow is worried that its ships will be targeted by nautical kamikazes. Beloved Wild Horses in Arizona Are Officially Protected
Animal advocates are celebrating a major victory for a beloved herd of wild horses in Arizona’s Tonto National Forest, who are now officially protected from being removed and slaughtered. The herd, known as the Salt River wild horses, became the center of a major controversy in 2015, when the Forest Service announced plans to remove them and auction them off. The agency argued they were stray livestock and not entitled to protection under the Wild and Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act of 1971, and it was therefore not responsible for managing them.
