The Best Books To Read Aloud to Your Children
As a child, my mom read aloud to us every night. We started with books like The Boxcar Children and Dealing with Dragons and eventually as we got older moved on to books like Great Expectations and Tarzan. It is one of my favorite memories and one that I knew I wanted to continue with my daughter. We started reading chapter books aloud a couple of years ago and we have developed some favorites. These are all books that your kids will love! 1. Ella Enchanted. This is hands down my favorite Cinderella story. If you have seen the movie, don't let it keep you from reading this book to... more »

My Green Home - The Wisdom in Waiting
While standing in line at the county tree sale, people were talking about gardening. One conversation caught my attention. A woman, who recently bought a home, spent her first week's clearing the property. She cut the trees and bushes, burned everything, and was now repopulating her land. I suppose that it's human nature to want to put our own "stamp" on things ... to make them our own. And frankly, it's often easier to wipe the slate clean and begin anew. But when it comes to property, rash decisions can hurt both the earth and one's pocketbook. We made the decision to go slowly wi... more »

Is The Middle East Now Facing A Period Of Nuclear Proliferation?
*Karl Vick, Time*: *The Middle East Nuclear Race Is Already Underway* *While the U.S. and other world powers work to constrain Iran's nuclear program, five rival nations plan atomic programs* *One of the most important reasons why the U.S. is trying to conclude a nuclear deal with Iran is to prevent an Iranian bomb from triggering a nuclear race in the Middle East. "When We Have Time..."
“How small a portion of our life it is that we really enjoy. In youth we are looking forward to things that are to come; in old age, we are looking backwards to things that are gone past; in manhood, although we appear indeed to be more occupied in things that are present, yet even that is too often absorbed in vague determinations to be vastly happy on some future day, when we have time.” - Charles Caleb Colton, “Lacon”

By a power that is unfathomably secret, and holy, and fleet." You may recall these words from Annie Dillard's “Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.” There is nothing intrinsically cheerful about the world, she says. To live is to die; it's all part of the bargain. Why Dave Has Ruled Out a Third Term
How short are political memories? Being someone with stints in Leninist organisations behind me, one lesson I talk from those times was how the party styled itself as the collective memory of the class. Hence why the repetitious lead offs on the Russian Revolution and rinse and repeat articles on the old beards. However, it turns out those comrades were right. In the Labour Party, as a rule, there is little sense of shared histories. Policies that were tried and failed before make comebacks from time to time. There is little systematic education and therefore the lessons learned by... more »

This is about politics - but equally about religion, Christianity it particular. And I'm sure it will please neither politicians nor Christians. It begins with a very short story to set the tone. My first job as a teacher was with a grade seven class. The school nurse came to see me. One of the girls in my class was, she thought, seriously ill. Could I drive her home, and make it clear to her parents that she had to see a doctor immediately. So I drove her home where her mother (stepmother) answered the door. I could almost feel the hatred between the girl and her stepmother. I exp... more »

How much do external forces impact me This is an idea until the 1960s would be a death suntan for a regime under attack today some of us can self actualise and look for the Truth if the most important fact of leadership and success is to know thyself. Failure to put election to accused a jurisdictional failure
*R. v. Shia,* 2015 ONCA 190: [32] In *Varcoe*, this court considered whether s. 686(1)(b)(iv) could save a harmless failure to put an accused to his election under s. 536(2) of the *Criminal Code*. There, as here, the accused was charged with an indictable offence that required an election. There, as here, the jurisdiction of the trial court over the offence depended entirely on the election of the accused to be tried by that court. This court held that, in the absence of an election, or valid waiver of it, the trial court lacked jurisdiction over the offence and the proviso i... more »
Leftover Ham Pillows
Ham is delicious. It is. The one downside, of course, is the leftovers. It doesn't seem bad at first -- ham is good so leftovers will be great, right? -- but it's amazing how long it takes to use up that leftover ham. It's hard to find good ham recipes too. Well here's one that's delicious, doesn't taste like leftover ham and will fill up your family: leftover ham pillows. It's a twist on one of my childhood favorite meals, chicken pillows, and it's wonderful winter food. *INGREDIENTS* 1 pkg crescent roll dough 1 1/2 cups leftover ham, cut into small cubes 1 cup mushrooms, cut into... more »

It isn’t that his call to converse was changing things at our own Starbucks. To state the obvious, baristas don’t have time for conversations about race, or about anything else, when they’re serving complex drinks to long lines of glowering people. To us, Schultz seemed more like Howard *Beale* in his strange videotaped request. To us, he seemed almost totally daft—and we don’t mean that in a good way! How Much Time Do Americans Spend Plugged Into The Matrix Every Day?

Confident Pakistan Holds First Republic Day Parade in 7 Years
Pakistan was holding its first Republic Day parade in seven years on Monday, a symbolic show of strength in the war against Taliban insurgents three months after a militant attack on an army-run high school killed 132 children. The Pakistan Day parade in the capital, held amid tight security with traffic and pedestrian access blocked, had been cancelled since 2008 amid fears of a Taliban attack. But the military says the militants have been on the run since the army launched an operation last year to dislodge insurgents from their bases in the northwestern region of Khyber and Nor... more »
100,000 tons of U.S. firepower too big to dock at Portsmouth
She weighs in at an impressive 100,000 tons and is longer than The Shard is tall. And today the mammoth USS Theodore Roosevelt was anchored just off the coast of Hampshire because she was simply 'too big' to sail into the Royal Navy's historic Portsmouth dockyard. Thousands of stunned spectators jammed roads and lined the banks of the River Solent to welcome the 1,092ft-long floating city as it arrived for a five-day visit to the UK on the first stop of a global deployment. Stealth corvettes for Navy by 2019
[image: Gowind class FS]The Navy is expected to receive its first of six littoral combat ship Gowind-class corvettes in early 2019, according to the shipbuilder. The corvettes, which have low-detection stealth capabilities, would be among the most modern warships in the region. “The first LCS will be floated in early 2018 to undergo acceptance test at harbour and sea. God willing, the first ship will be handed over to the government in March 2019,” said defence director Anual Murad of Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Bhd, which is building the ships in Lumut. Defense bolstered five years after Cheonan sinking
[image: Cheonan FS]Five years after North Korea’s torpedo attack on the corvette Cheonan, the South Korean Navy has expressed full confidence in its enhanced capabilities to counter another provocation by the communist state and make up for the tragedy that killed 46 sailors. The incident took place in the West Sea near the Northern Limit Line, a de facto sea border, at 9:22 p.m. on March 26, 2010. A South Korea-led multinational probe team has concluded that a midget submarine torpedoed the 1,200-ton patrol ship ― a conclusion that Pyongyang has denied. Read more
Japan firms to be a surprise no-show at Australian submarine event
[image: Soryu class SSK]Two Japanese firms that until recently were the frontrunners to win a multi-billion dollar contract to build Australia’s new submarines have rebuffed an invitation to attend a gathering of top Australian naval officials and politicians this week. The no-show by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Kawasaki Heavy Industries at an event called Australia’s Future Submarine Summit, held amid intensifying competition for the deal, exposes a potential weak link in Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s more muscular security agenda: Japan Inc. While Abe wants Japanese fir... more »
Huge Part of ME with Kimberlee
This newsletter was put out by my Daughter this month. She has been one of my informants regarding the structure and nature of the Spirit world or perhaps better now, the second tier of matter. What she reports consistently rings true. Think about that for a second. I do not use these words lightly. The information passed along is always carefully worded. Note the particular allusion to the founding image of Christ's birth. I never thought that the three wise men were Arabs, but they had to be by the nature of their gifts. Has anyone else ever thought that they ... more »
New Material to Produce Clean Energy
A lot of effort has gone into this sector and this is both an improvement, but also a new approach that promises even better results. All this works toward stripping waste heat to produce useful power. It is still a marginal improvement that may simply not out run the coming power revolution which will strip the costs out of power production. Waste heat conversion is best married to a reverse Rankin cycle engine design that forces a large enough thermodynamic gap and provides temperature control for thermodynamic input. We still end up with a hot fluid useful for methods su... more »

No. They give it to Blacks and Browns so they can outbreed you. Inuit Elders tell NASA Earth Axis Shifted
[image: NASA] This is physically impossible without triggering every piece scientific hardware on Earth and in space all of which depend on dead accurate location information. Why do you think we know so quick when the slightest adjustment happens? So what did they observe? The observed and confirmed movements are simply too small to pick up using natural alignments. Thus we have visual alignments held in memory likely and no direct effort to lock them down as was done at Stonehenge. That observational vulnerability combined with a warmer Arctic over the past two decades ad... more »
Thoughts Regarding Cryptid Sightings in North America.
A recent item regarding a putative hyena sighting on the Eastern seaboard has helped put a number of apparently unrelated lines of inquiry together. As posted here there are a lot of sightings failing to identify the creature. Yet the information often is conforming. We are observing a bushy tail and we are observing a Mohawk like mane as well likely raised to show display and down otherwise. The hind legs are very strong as well. These same features are been reported for the land based chupacabra reports and this means that they are the same lineage. I am also seeing a wide ... more »

Rebranding AlQaeda's Jabhat Al Nusra as "Moderates"
Since the US backed "Hazm" Syrian rebel group defected to Jabhat Al Nusra, the US has attempted to rebrand Al Nusra as a non-Al Qaeda "moderate" force. *March 23, 2015* (Maram Susli - NEO) - The CIA backed and armed Syrian rebel group, Hazm brigade disbanded and its members have defected to Al Qaeda linked Jabhat Al Nusra (JAN) and ISIS. Paulo Coelho, "The Seagull and the Mouse"
*"The Seagull and the Mouse"* by Paulo Coelho "A seagull was flying over a beach in the Black Sea when it saw a mouse. It swooped down from the skies and asked the rodent, “Where are your wings?” Each of them spoke a different language, and the mouse did not understand what the seagull said, but did notice that the animal standing before it had two big strange things emerging from its body. “It must suffer from some disease,” whispered the mouse. The seagull noticed that the mouse was staring at its wings and said quietly, “Poor thing! It was attacked by monsters that left it deaf ... more »

Chet Raymo, “Speak, Earth”
*“Speak, Earth”* by Chet Raymo “There is a passage toward the end of Vladimir Nabokov' memoir "Speak, Memory" where he compares the writing of a novel to "the zest of a deity building a live world from the most unlikely ingredients—rocks, and carbon, and blind throbbings." This is the season in New England when we watch the deity in action, when the cold, rocky foundation suddenly seeps and oozes the fluids of life, the blood and tears and intestinal juices and sticky protoplasm. Lucretia Seales’s life is not Bob McCoskrie’s to meddle with
So, how in any way is it Bob McCoskrie’s business whether or by what means a woman with terminal cancer chooses to end her own life at the time and in the manner of her choosing? Lecretia Seales is a very brave woman, a lawyer with an inoperable brain tumour, who says it's a "fundamental human right" to choose to end her life with medical assistance, and she is going to court to assert that right so that a doctor may be legally able to euthanase her without prosecution if she chooses it. That legal right would allow her to choose the time and manner of her passing, to be able to ... more »
Opting For A Gay Lifestyle-- Pick One
Recently, Ben Carson apologized for his comments-- widely attacked in the media and by politicians from Barney Frank to Joe Biden-- that homosexuality is a choice. It's a debate that's been raging between conservatives and non-conservatives for a long time. Gay equality activist Dan Savage suggested Carson show how that choice can be made: "If being gay is a choice, prove it. Choose it. Choose to be gay yourself. Show America how that’s done, Ben; show us how a man can choose to be gay. Suck my dick." Is that what gay is? I think for many people there does come a time when a ch... more »
Is 'Free Speech' Coming To Cuba?

Co-founder of Greenpeace is a climate sceptic
The co-founder of Greenpeace writes to explain why he’s a “climate sceptic.” Patrick Moore was co-founder and leader of Greenpeace for 15 years. He says “the IPCC’s followers have given us a vision of a world dying because of carbon-dioxide emissions. I say the Earth would be a lot deader with no carbon dioxide, and more of it will be a very positive factor in feeding the world.” At 400 parts per million, all our food crops, forests, and natural ecosystems are still on a starvation diet for carbon dioxide. The optimum level of carbon dioxide for plant growth, given enough water ... more »
Corporate Congress Turns Blind Eye to High Tech Predators in Schools
The do nothing bill is called the Student Digital Privacy and Parental Rights Act. Clip from NYTimes: . . . some privacy experts said the draft bill had major loopholes that would allow school services to use student information in ways students and parents might not expect or find acceptable. For example, it allows school services to make unilateral changes to their contracts and privacy policies. It permits them to disclose student information for purposes like preparing for “employment opportunities.” And it would not prohibit sites like ConnectEDU from selling student records a... more »
Racism in the U.S. Army
