Craig is a gem. (You know that) He often receives unsolicited suggestions for topics to blog, as if he hasn’t more than enough topics of his own to get stuck into; I admit that I too have been known to lumber him with extra homework. But you know the saying 'if you want something done ask a busy person'. *wherein I proceed to make a whole bunch of people really, really angry.* So be it. At the beginning of the State of the Union address when they panned the chamber the democrat women all tricked out in white really stood out. My first thought was, "Holy crap - that's a lot of white." I quickly cast my eyes to the the other side of the aisle and ascertained there was not nearly as many women present. One item not addressed here are claims in the news such as "rape is one of the most underreported crimes" or other similar wording. Depending on the phrasing, the claim seems utterly ludicrous. Jaywalking, for instance, is no doubt far more underreported than any form of violent assault. Even if the wording were "most underreported -violent- crime", I would expect that simple assault and/or battery would be far more common.

As a retired big city, urban police officer who worked the midnight shift for most of my career, I can attest to the fact that there are a large number of confirmed false accusations of rape, then there are those that sound dubious but may still be valid, we’ll never know for sure about them. These consist of one or a combination of; no signs of force (vaginal/anal tearing or bruising, bruising or redness anywhere else on the body), no scientific evidence of any sexual contact, victim statements that are blatantly contradictory and show clear signs of deception, especially in cases ... more »

I am confused about a couple of points: * each year, about 0.2% of women enrolled in college explicitly state that they have been raped, but this figure grows to 1.0% if they are prompted with graphic descriptions of acts that fit the legal definition of rape. * each year, roughly 2.1% of college women say they have been the victim of acts that fit the legal definition of rape. A Reason For More Farmed Salmon: 48 Million Wild Fish Per Year Just In Two Alaska Areas
A new analysis used Alaska Department of Fish and Game data and fish estimates from 2007 to 2016 to quantify the number and value of Pacific salmon harvested from streams, rivers, and lakes in Alaska. They estimate that it's 48,000,000 fish per year, and that is without the recreational fishing catch and local communities where it's a food staple. The value is $88,000,000 per year. New York Democrats want to tell you what your religion can believe
The law in New York says that employers can't discriminate based on a prospective employee's "reproductive health decisions". The result is that religious organizations, including Catholic schools and pro-life centers, would have to hire openly pro-abortion workers. That's like saying Jewish groups have to hire Nazi's. It's a clear violation of our 1st and 14th Amendment rights and as a result a crisis pregnancy center, EMC Frontline, is now suing New York. Ocasio-Cortez shows she doesn't know economics
Ocasio-Cortez wrote this on Instagram: *“I was just reading today about how in 1930, famed economist Milton Keynes predicted that by 2030 GDP and technology would have advanced so much that it would allow everyday people to work as little as FIFTEEN HOURS a week and provide for their families,”* Now general speaking we should forgive typos. After all we all make them. But this one is not really excusable. AOC is constantly telling us that she knows economics because she has a bachelors degree in the field. But saying Milton Keynes is like saying "Bill Reagan" or "Ronald Obama"; n... more »

Ilhan Omar seems to be calling for all Americans to be required to serve in the military: “Imagine what it would do for our country and those who live here if we were to take the ethos behind the original G.I. Big La Nina coming
After the big El Nino of 2015-2016, we are headed to a big La Nina of 2020-2021. US NOAA forecast (as of Feb. 9) for Nino region 3.4 shows neutral by April this year, La Nina by June and dip further by July onwards. So by middle of this year, we should burn more fossil fuels, drive our cars and fly more often to expand CO2 emissions and induce Gorebal warming, control bad global cooling. https://wattsupwiththat.com/enso-forecast-page/

Pete Buttigieg: The Democrats' Marco Rubio
*Mitchell Blatt* *Politics, * While I may not be the best at spotting the “next Obama,” I can say now that I am an expert at identifying wanna-be Obamas. And former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is a grade-A specimen. In fact, you could even call him the Democratic Marco Rubio. In 2016, I was quoted by the Washington Post’s E.J. Stay-at-Home Parents Who Want to Go Back To Work Have it Rough
*Kate Weisshaar* *economy, Americas* [image: Reuters] It is harder for stay-at-home moms to return to work than for stay-at-home dads. I find that gaps in employment can negatively affect future career prospects in multiple ways, particularly for those who left work for childcare responsibilities. *No s... more »

Socialist "fighters against socialism" fail to see the important things
William Barr has proposed a sensible, cheap solution to remove the dangerous gap in the 5G mobile data technologies where China is 1 year ahead of Europe and 5-10 years ahead of the U.S.: just invest several tens of billions into Nokia and/or Ericsson, and elevate the indirect strategic control of the U.S. companies but also the U.S. government over these industries. Make sure that the abundant U.S. cash is being poured into these technologies so that the gap is disappearing. Technology Can Be The Problem
Technology, we're told, can and will make lives easier. That's true -- but only partially true. When it comes to elections, what happened in Iowa proves that our faith in technology has been misplaced. Robin Sears writes: The debacle in Iowa, like the one that struck Democrats and Republicans there before, and most infamously the one that denied Al Gore the presidency in 2000, have one feature in common. The increasing reliance of American elections on electronics, not paper. Bytes not bits, as it were. Yes, sometimes they have “hanging chads” debates where human eyes try to seco... more »

Human Porcupines And Their System Of Civil Association
On a cold winter day, a colony of porcupines, so Schopenhauer tells us, wanted to huddle together so that they may bask in the communal warmth and escape from being frozen. But the pricks from the quill’s on each other’s bodies forced them to draw apart—at the same time the cold forced them to huddle together. At some point of time, the porcupines discovered that if they maintain an optimal distance, they can enjoy a moderate amount of communal warmth while avoiding the pricks form each other’s quills. The porcupines didn’t realize it, but they had discovered a system of civil assoc... more »
