Superpower on the Water: Does China Have a Massive 650-Ship Navy?

David Axe at The National Interest - 16 hours ago
*David Axe* *Security, * The Chinese fleet is much bigger than most people think. And that should compel the United States to reconsider its Pacific maritime strategy, one expert argued. *Key Point:* America's allies contribute their own forces to international efforts to manage China's rise as a military power. But that doesn't mean the United States shouldn't reconsider its own strategy in light of China's numerical advantage at sea. The Chinese fleet is much bigger than most people think. Panzerfaust: The Super Tank-Killer Hitler Unleashed During World War II

Robert Beckhusen at The National Interest - 16 hours ago
*Robert Beckhusen* *Security, * To Allied tank crews during World War II, the Panzerfaust was one of the German army’s deadliest weapons behind the static 88-millimeter cannon, the rocket-propelled Panzerschreck and — most of all — other tanks. *Key Point:* Hills recalled having nightmares of his experiences decades later that would leave him feeling “despair and terror.” But he kept those thoughts from overwhelming him due to his considerable courage and support from fellow soldiers. To Allied tank crews during World War II, the Panzerfaust was one of the German army’s deadlies... more »

This morning's *The Andrew Marr Show* was so striking that I thought I'd share a selection of views on it with you from my social media feed. Enjoy! *Toby Young*: Andrew Marr talking over Boris Johnson, not letting him answer the question, hectoring him, asking him if he’d like to apologise for everything under the sun… this isn’t a political interview. A strange business

Craig at Is the BBC biased? - 17 hours ago
If you switched on BBC One arround 10 o'clock this morning you will have seen Andrew Marr delivering a long, impassioned monologue. The odd thing about it was that there was also this big, blond chap sitting opposite him who looked uncannily like PM Boris Johnson. I've no idea what *he *was doing there, and he kept trying trying to talk over Andrew's monologue. How rude!

Is Andrew Marr right? In terms of what Labour can do about this, at this stage in the campaign they obviously can't change their leader, but the offer to WASPI women, to a lot of women, a lot of money to a lot of women who are very angry, seemed to me to be a very, very clever election move indeed and could change things.

Can Being a Good Father Actually Kill You?

Derek M. Griffith, Elizabeth C. Stewart at The National Interest - 18 hours ago
*Derek M. Griffith, Elizabeth C. Stewart* *Health, Americas* Fathers need to care for themselves as well as their kids – but often don’t. If you had to choose, which would you rather have: a healthy father or a good father? Studies suggest men often choose being a good father over being healthy. Becoming a father is a major milestone in the life of a man, often shifting the way he thinks from being “me focused” to “we focused.” But fatherhood can also shift how men perceive their health. Our research has found that fathers can view health not in terms of going to the doctor or ea... more »
