"Being Hard On Ourselves: A Bad Habit"
*"Being Hard On Ourselves: A Bad Habit"* by Madisyn Taylor, The DailyOM "When we are hard on ourselves, we send our bodies the message that we are not good enough. We do this in ways that are both overt and subtle, and half the work sometimes is recognizing that we are doing it at all. For example, if we find it difficult to graciously accept compliments, this is probably a sign that we tend to be hard on ourselves. Other ways in which we express this ... more »

TRUMP'S APPROVAL NUMBERS WERE GOOD LAST NIGHT -- ALMOST AS GOOD AS OBAMA'S COMPARABLE NUMBERS
Some on the right will tell you that the instant-poll numbers for President Trump's State of the Union address were extraordinary. What were the numbers? Here's what CBS told us: But let's compare those numbers with the numbers for the State of the Union address that began Barack Obama's third year in office. Like Trump, he'd just suffered significant congressional losses for his party in the midterms. So how'd Obama do in 2011? An overwhelming majority of Americans approved of the overall message in President Obama's State of the Union speech on Tuesday night, according to a... more »
Donald Trump Tries to Triangulate
*Gil Barndollar, Curt Mills* *Politics, Americas* [image: Reuters] In last night’s State of the Union, the president sought to set the stage for his re-election effort. President Donald Trump embraced convention Tuesday night in his State of the Union address. Fresh off the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, Trump deployed the tried and true script of unity, greatness, and American exceptionalism. Faced, as Bill Clinton was after his first midterm election, with an adversarial House, Trump took a page from the forty-second president’s playbook: he triangulated. “This Is... more »
India: 52 coal mines opened in 5 years to fuel power drive
Australia relies heavily on Fossil Fuel energy, especially coal. Unreliable Wind and Solar account for only 6%. As our coal-fired power stations age and reach their final days, there are no plans to replace them. Our two major political parties are talking of raising the balance of unreliables to 26-50%. Do these clowns really believe that is achievable? Meanwhile, India's Electricity generation is similar to Australia's with Unreliables at 6% and coal at 77%. And Indian has increased their coal mines by 52 in the last 5 years. Sanjay Dutta, writing in *The Times of India*: *52 ... more »

A series of photos of a jaguar diving for food under water. Note the intensity and the sincerity displayed by the jaguar. Some would say that it looks like John C. eating at a Waffle House, or Old NFO taking on a steak. We know that Fredd looks something like that as he tears into his Aunt Sally's banquets. WSF getting cut off in traffic - definitely. LSP's dog (Blue Avenger) looks a lot like that if you are eating a fried cherry pie near him and not sharing. A Special Place in Hell
Unwise his comments may be from the standpoint of diplomatic protocol, it's difficult not to disagree with Donald Tusk. There *should* be a special place for Brexiteers who lied, peddled racist politics, and hitched themselves to the Leave bandwagon for entirely selfish reasons. Space must also be reserved on the damnation list for the former Prime Minister for failing to order any contingency planning in case Leave won the referendum. And when we think about the current occupant of the highest office? Oh boy. Of course, the Brexiteers love it when any European politician or bureau... more »

"And Remember..."
"Happiness is a journey, not a destination. For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles *were* my life. This perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one." ~ Souza

Why I use the Term Cultural Marxism
A number of commenters on a recent piece questioned my use of the term Cultural Marxism, and so I thought I’d give a little explanation as to why I believe the term to be not just an apt one, but also historically accurate. I rather got the impression — rightly or wrongly — that the assumption behind the questions was that by using this phrase, I am pinning a label on those who disagree with me on many of the […]
