Goodbye My Friend, Walter Jones

John J. Duncan, Jr. at 13 hours ago
[image: undefined] I just retired after serving 30 years in the US House of Representatives and 16 years before that as a lawyer and Judge. I have to say, of all the great men and women with whom I have worked during my career, Walter Jones was one of the best. There is greater turnover in elective office than ever before, and I served with almost 1500 other Members of the House during my years there. Walter was once rated as the kindest man in Congress, and he certainly was that to me. He and I often sat together on the Floor of the House and talked over our votes. And many times... more »

Will Iran And India Launch Military Strikes Against Terror Camps In Pakistan?

Both Iran and India likely going to strike areas of Pakistan in coming days https://t.co/fX0fSD8GDT — ELINT News (@ELINTNews) February 16, 2019 *WNU Editor:* I am skeptical that India or Pakistan are going to launch military strikes against targets like Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice) in Pakistan. Or Blame Congress

Gerard N. Magliocca at Balkinization - 13 hours ago
Here's a different take on my prior post. After *Chadha*, Congress could have done nothing to the National Emergencies Act. Then the Act would have been unconstitutional, as there would have been a good argument that the legislative veto provision invalidated by *Chadha* was not severable from the rest of the Act. Or Congress could have rewritten the Act to narrow its scope given that a declaration was now harder for Congress to repudiate.. Instead, Congress chose the worst option. They did not narrow the scope of the Act. They did not duo nothing. They instead simply changed the le... more »

The Man That is Many

If you’ll indulge me, I’m going to dispense with politics today. There’s been death in family and I figure we can all use a break from political viewpoints now and then (yes?). Today, I’m thinking more about both the smallness and the largeness of the individual life, and how each of our little consciousnesses contain within them so much more than we can possibly express or understand—and how they radiate outward with a force that… The post The Man That is Many appeared first on The Ghion Journal.
