The percentages for fatherless black babies hovers around 70%. What Do Democrats Stand For?-- A Guest Post By Maine Democrat Jared Golden
On Sunday, Maine Democrats held statewide caucuses. In the state's sprawling 2nd district, a crowded primary yielded the one candidate, Jared Golden, who caucus goers know is the surest bet to beat GOP incumbent Bruce Poliquin. Golden had volunteers at 80% of the caucus locations in the 26,000 square mile district, straight off fresh the Canadian-American Sled Dog races where his campaign raised money for state and local Democratic candidates. And he won just over 90% of the caucus straw poll votes. Lately Golden has been busy with the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1445... more »

In 1983, Russia and America Almost Accidentally Started a Nuclear War
*Richard Purcell* *History, Europe* Soviet leaders worried the Americans were planning a sneak attack. In 1983, the United States and the Soviet Union came dangerously close to nuclear war. That was the conclusion of a highly classified report issued in February 1991 by the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, or PFIAB. The board, which conducts oversight of the U.S. intelligence community for the White House, interviewed over 75 American and British officials and examined scads of intelligence assessments and other official documents from the early 1980s. The US Ponders a Strike Against Syrian Government Forces: What’s Behind This Aggressive Approach?
[image: undefined] The US is considering the option of military action against Syria. The alleged use of chemical weapons (CW) by the Syrian government, which is not backed by any solid evidence, is to serve as the pretext. Syrian President Assad is going to be “punished.” On March 6, US President Trump and Israeli PM Netanyahu discussed the threat posed by Iran’s presence in Syria and ways to counter it. Gun Crackdowns Have Already Led to Too Many Federal Abuses
[image: undefined] President Trump declared last week that the law enforcement should “take the guns first, go through due process second.” But the history of federal firearms enforcement shows that due process is often a mirage when federal bureaucrats drop their hammer. Before enacting sweeping new gun prohibitions, we should remember the collateral damage and constitutional absurdities from previous federal crackdowns. Gun control advocates have called for prohibiting possession of AR-15 rifles — a ban that could create five million new felons overnight, since most owners would ... more »
The bureaucrats strike again - and may have cost lives
This is what happens when bureaucrats put procedures and policies above the safety of human life. When a gunman started shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, two Miramar SWAT team members did what comes naturally: They went to help. Now they’ve been suspended for it. The officers did not have permission to respond to the shooting at Parkland on Feb. 14, when 17 people were killed. And that created an officer safety issue and left them unaccountable for their actions, according to their police department. * . . .* A third SWAT member, Officer Kevin Gonzalez, was accuse... more »

Military And Intelligence News Briefs -- March 8, 2018
*Brookings:* *China’s military spending* When assessing China’s military spending and modernization, we should keep six things in mind. First, China’s official military spending figures are questionable, with many independent estimates suggesting that it already spends in excess of $200 billion on its military each year. Although the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has become somewhat more transparent over the past two decades, the exact annual defence budget should be taken with a grain of salt. DARPA Wants To 'Freeze' Soldiers On The Battlefield
*Live Science:* *Why DARPA Wants to 'Freeze' Soldiers on the Battlefield* When troops are injured on the battlefield, time is of the essence: How long it takes service members to receive medical care is often the single most important factor in determining whether they live or die. Now, scientists are looking at new ways to buy some extra time for battlefield injuries, but not by getting medical care to troops faster. Instead, the scientists want to essentially slow down time. And they're taking a cue from tiny creatures called tardigrades. *Read more* .... *WNU Editor:* The abov... more »

Truth is always factual, but alleged "facts" are not always truthful
The controversy surrounding South Africa's decision to "nationalize" white-owned farmland without compensation (which I covered here, and in a later elaboration of the underlying reasons here) has caused a lot of debate among commenters, on this blog and elsewhere. Some respondents tried to be rational and factual in their approach. Others scoffed, scorned, and generally derided those behind the decision. In some cases, there were indications of potential racism and other prejudices. What struck me most of all was the refusal of some commenters to face facts, or their insistence... more »

*Life in the Golden State* There are a few homeless encampments in Orange County, California. State law under the Democrat supermajority has created these human cesspools. There's little value in enumerating those laws but the cause and effect is clear. County government recently cleared one of them in Anaheim, CA, next to Angel Stadium where 700 vagrants squatted. (Fox News) As if living in those conditions is just another life choice, the ACLU tried to stop Mr. Spitzer’s effort to clean up a homeless camp of 700 people living along a riverbed next to Angels’ Stadium. This is a difficult topic to get your mind around when the war itself is been fought in complete secrecy. Just how do you credibly talk about it? We all know that the core opponent is the so called DEEP STATE. However they have engaged extra territorial allies as well and have in fact opened up national assets for those allies in order to advance their aims. Thus the war must also be waged world wide as vigorously as within the USA. Be aware that this is possible and the odd can be understood. We are not experiencing a shift in dimension but an increase in perception of the second tier of matter.
