Russian President Putin 'Couldn't Care Less' If Russian Citizens Tried To Interfere In The 2016 U.S. Election
*NBC:* *Putin on U.S. election interference: ‘I couldn’t care less’* Russian President Vladimir Putin has told NBC News that he "couldn't care less" if Russian citizens tried to interfere in the 2016 American presidential election because, he claims, they were not connected to the Kremlin. In an exclusive and at-times combative interview with NBC's Megyn Kelly, Putin again denied the charge by U.S. intelligence services that he ordered meddling in the November 2016 vote that put Donald Trump in the White House. "The Art Of The Deal on the international stage"
The Burning Platform reprints a string of Tweets from The Last Refuge that seems to be a pretty accurate summation of how President Trump's foreign policy has worked out thus far. It's impressive. Here's an excerpt. 3. Just because western media doesn’t understand how President Trump executes a geopolitical strategy based on economic leverage, that doesn’t mean adversaries are not fully aware of the effectiveness of the approach. 4. The Trump Doctrine has two avenues toward dealing with national security adversaries. 5. The first route is direct assignment of responsibility towar... more »
Increase in Intense Earthquakes
I have an earthquake ap that has been very active with alerts over the last couple of months. especially in Papua New Guinea. Today at the Asahi Shimbun I saw that a volcano in Kyushu, the Japanese island wracked with earthquakes over the last year or so, is now actively spewing ash, as you can see here http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/AJ201803070034.html All of this geological activity made me wonder whether actual activity is up, or conversely whether the global reporting of activity simply makes the earthquake and volcanic events *seem* more frequent when in fact incidents are... more »

Midterms in New Jersey: "It’s All About Stopping Trump"
The video above is how most New Jersey voters got to know Jim Keady. Now he's running for Congress, in the district Republican Chris occupies. Chris Smith (R-NJ) is an anti-Choice fanatic; other than that, though-- and I emphasize FANATIC-- he seems as much a moderate Democrat as a Republican. His voting record is a lot like New Jersey Blue Dog's Josh Gottheimer. He's been representing the 4th district since 1980. The district is mostly made up of Monmouth County but includes some of Ocean and some of Mercer as well. It starts on the east side of Trenton heads northeast to Middlet... more »

rip barry crimmins: call me lucky to have known him
In late 2015, I blogged about a remarkable documentary: "Call Me Lucky," about the life and times of Barry Crimmins. Barry died last week at the age of 64. Describing Barry as a comedian somehow seems wrong. He was a social critic who used biting humour and righteous anger to enlighten and to skewer. He was a fierce opponent of any system that furthers war, poverty, and repression, and a stalwart advocate for equality, justice, and peace. He was also a master of wicked one-liners, as his thousands of Twitter followers knew. Barry was in many ways a cynic and a curmudgeon, but that ... more »

Russian President Putin Wants (Needs) A Huge Turnout In The Upcoming Russian Presidential Election
*WNU Editor:* It is all about legitimacy. By openly interfering on how this election is to be run, the Kremlin has positioned itself that it needs 50% of the eligible electorate to vote for Putin in order for him to claim legitimacy. If Putin wins the election with 60% of the vote .... but only 60% of eligible voters went out to vote .... the argument can (and will be be made) that if you can get only get over a third of eligible voters voting for you .... and in a fixed election .... your mandate and your legitimacy to rule is then on very shaky grounds. The Power of Books
Matthew Stewart in *Nature’s God: The Heretical Origins of the American Republic* (Chapter: “The Dirty Little Screw of the American Revolution”): “DO BOOKS MATTER? Do they change minds—or do we just read into them whatever we want to know? We live in the most literate age in human history, yet many people today find few things less useful than books, and no books as useless as those of the philosophers. Another day another smear
An article by Marcus Dysch concerning the media’s general indifference towards antisemitism was published in the Spectator yesterday, but I note it’s now plummeting towards the bottom of the “most popular’ list, which kind of self-substantiates its own proposition. Actually it was yesterday's smear so you're a day late. — Paul Mason (@paulmasonnews) March 9, 2018 Odd that he considers it a smear, since he is a member of the group in question. Because of the pomp and circumstance, the Chinese could then renege of all promises ever made to Kim. After all the Emperor of the world was here. This is how the Chinese saved face totally.
