Fox Proves It: Sexual Harassment Is Contagious
I've always said that sexual harassment is not about sex: it's about power. In that way it's just another form of bullying. And if you remember your playground bullies, if they got away with it once, they accelerated their behavior. Sexual harassers, like bullies, engage in more and more extreme behavior until someone stops them. The other thing about playground bullies is that their behavior is contagious. Some weaker personality chimes in to get approval from the alpha bully. Then others join in the bullying. Well, it happens with sexual harassment too, and Fox just proved it. We... more »

New Video Shows The Damage From The U.S. MOAB Strike In Afghanistan Two weeks Ago
*Task & Puspose*: *New Footage Shows Aftermath Of The MOAB Strike In Afghanistan* New footage came out on Thursday showing the aftermath of the Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) weapon that the US dropped on ISIS fighters in Afghanistan on April 13. The video was taken by local Afghan police, who can be seen walking around the stone rubble and dead trees. Security forces blocked access to the area for more than a week after the blast, and Afghan officials estimated that it killed about 100 ISIS militants. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, however, said that counting the “dead bodies... more »
The New Economic Normal and the Impact on the Federal Reserve
A recent speech by Eric Rosengren, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, gives us a glimpse of what may lie ahead in the world that is the Federal Reserve. In his speech, he outlines why it will be necessary for the Fed to implement one aspect of its new monetary policy ammunition and why this will be necessary. As we all know, the Fed and its most influential peers have kept interest rates at historically low levels for the longest period in history as shown here: Obviously, when the next recession hits, the Federal Reserve will have very little room to drop nominal i... more »

Over the last decade, this goal has been brought closer to reality. Machine learning systems have come to excel in many signal processing tasks and have achieved superhuman performance in learning tasks including the games of Go and Heads-up Poker. More broadly, we have seen large changes in every pore of our society. This remarkable progress raises the question of how the world may look if the field ... more »

When Theresa May made public her intentions, it did catch all the experts and pundits on the hop – me included. Yet when you sit back and think about it, you have to ask why no one saw it coming. Again they are quite used to swinging through trees for most travel. A whole bunch of what i expected showed up here.... more »

A major ban in Europe has seen a huge bee recovery. In general most policy makers worldwide are now wise to the problems and are acting far more cautiously or at least demanding larger bribes. Amazing apes: Great apes can “read minds” to help people out
What is missing in this discussion is an appreciation that all animals with the exception of humanity rely on mind to mind communication in the first place. In fact our own inability to observe game can be traced back to this phenomena. A herd of deer could graze nearby in the midst of hunting season with this trick and probably do in order to protect themselves. The methods described here can be used to res... more »

In its crusade to “make the world safe for democracy,” the Wilson administration took immediate steps at home to curtail one of the pillars of democracy – press freedom – by implementing a plan to control, manipulate and censor all news coverage, on a scale never seen in U.S. history.
