100 Years Ago The U.S. Entered The First World War
*Politico:* *United States enters World War I, April 6, 1917* On this day 100 years ago, the United States declared war on Germany, entering the worldwide conflict then known as the Great War. The struggle, which had begun in the summer of 1914, would take a decisive turn against the Central Powers after more than 2 million U.S. troops, under the command of Maj. Gen. John J. Pershing, arrived in France to bolster the Allied effort. In 1916, Woodrow Wilson, the Democratic president, had sought reelection on the slogan, “He kept us out of war!.” He asserted that a Republican victory... more »

It took twenty years and some adjustments with mother nature but they are really back. This is the largest single population. The last hollow laugh
Not quite the end of history but perhaps the beginning of the end. Armageddon with the forces of the Anti Christ is well engaged as we speak. That it is not perceived as such is natural as that demands sensitivity. Victory itself will take the form of a general internal collapse of Islam in the face of the total end of global poverty. A spiritual transformation will ensue as well but that will be the easiest part as we now understand the physical reality of spirit. The Big Man will no longer be needed at all but will still be honored.. *The last hollow laugh * *Since Francis... more »
Waking Up From Religion
Let us try to put all this into a proper perspective and also try to be fair and non judgmental. This is a deeply personal reaction to a religious organization that actually worked well enough for most. This can actually be said for all such organizations. The problem is that while religion is inspired by a spiritual agenda, it is also true that out of a community of hundreds, only a small handful are typically engaged in a spiritual practice at all and that may have little to do with organized anything. Spiritual practice demands intent and desire. There are many pathways... more »

Americans Want Privacy-- Including Republicans
A couple of nights ago, Rachel Maddow did a long and interesting segment about what the Trumpist Regime does behind closed doors. The whole segment is posted above. And it's primarily about how the Trumpists are secretly moving more troops into Syria without asking for congressional approval. The decision making is behind closed doors. The second example that Maddow discusses though, is the one I want to take up today. Just before the 11 and a half mark on the clip, she mentions how the Regime tried hiding the fact that Trump signed the incrediblely unpopular Republican bill that ... more »

Trump Vows to Tackle Common Core, Return Education to Locals
[image: trump-vows-to-tackle-common-core-return-education-to-locals] After what critics viewed as waffling on his campaign pledge to end the Obama-backed national Common Core standards and restore local control of education, President Donald Trump reiterated this week his desire to abolish the controversial K-12 schooling scheme and get the federal government out of education. Speaking at his CEO Business Town Hall, Trump praised his controversial U.S. Education Secretary Betsy Devos and said the process of ending Common Core was underway. “Have the Neocons Gotten to Trump?”
*“Have the Neocons Gotten to Trump?”, Introduction* by Brian Maher "Nearly three stymying months in office, Trump strikes us as a man fixing to get something done. First health care flopped. And tax reform - the kind Wall Street pinned its hopes upon - may soon follow. House Speaker Paul Ryan said yesterday that tax reform will take even longer than health care. Worse, he said Trump and Congress were actually closer on health care than on taxes. That’s two major tests - health care and taxes - flunked. For now at least. And so the blush comes off the peach. IMAGINING A POST-BANNON TRUMP
The bizarre thing about the Trump White House is that when I started reading this, I wasn't sure at first which side in the dispute leaked it: Donald Trump’s chief strategist Stephen Bannon has called the president’s senior advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner a “cuck” and a “globalist” during a time of high tension between the two top aides, several Trump administration officials told The Daily Beast. Chief John Big Tree, Dark Cloud, Jack Cosgrave, Adda Gleason and Robert Goldstein in The Spirit of '76 (1917). IMDb In the United States, “The Great War” led to unprecedented efforts by the federal government to control and restrict “unpatriotic” speech. But the boundary between speech that undermined the government and legitimate criticism was often unclear. As a scholar and lawyer focused on freedom of speech in the U.S., I have studied the restrictions on speech during WWI and the legal cases that challenged them. These cases helped form the modern idea of the First Amendment r... more »

The Chevron Decision, the Regulatory State and "Consent of the Governed"
*Not just a line from our founding document; a fact.* *by Gaius Publius* *Bottom line first* — Having justices like Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court is part of the attempt by Trump, Bannon, the Koch Bros and all Ryanist Republicans to dismantle the regulatory state. Dismantle — not undercut or chip away at. Tear down, starting at its base. Imagine what that will do. Such an attempt, if it succeeds, could rend the last shred of fabric holding the nation together as a nation. The attempt to rip that fabric in two is closer to success, on many fronts, than most imagine. This is abou... more »

From Syria To Monsanto: A Moribund System Of Deceit And Destruction
Global Research, Countercurrents, CounterPunch, RINF Today, as the dominant global power, the US rolls out its brand of unfettered capitalism across the world. US citizens constitute just five percent of the world’s population but consume 24 percent of global energy. Consider the consequences of a US-style model of ‘development’ if it were to be aspired to and copied throughout the world (which it is in places like India and China). The model is unsustainable and based on the premise of endless GDP growth and endless supplies of (finite) fossil fuels to fuel it. *Empire and oil* ... more »

You Should Never Put Toilet Paper on a Toilet Seat?
Viral posts suggesting an increased risks of bathroom-borne pathogens by putting toilet paper on a toilet seat ignore both conventional logic and published scientific research.
As most of you know by now, Paul Craig Roberts was Associate Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy under Ronald Reagan and later Associate Editor of the Wall Street Journal, but with the turn of the Century he gave up such lucrative positions to expose the corruption of the U.S. government and it's intention to conquer the rest of the world or die in a nuclear holocost that would extinguish the human race. Here, Greg Hunter, who is deeply conserned with these issues, interviews Paul Craig Roberts in an extended video. Don't miss it.

Dr. Roberts explains, “This image of a strong stock market is based essentially on debt, borrowing and debt, money creation and debt. It’s a false signal that shows prosperity, and it’s not really there. . . . So, during a period of time when there has been no interest income on peoples’ savings in the form of bonds or CDs, there has also been no growth in Social Security income. So,... more »

Are There Really Two Political Scandals In Washington?

Another Dangerous Rush to Judgment in Syria

Again, we see the troubling pattern of verdict first, investigation later, even when that behavior can lead to a dangerous war escalation and many more deaths. Woodrow Wilson Made Democracy Unsafe for the World
[image: undefined] This week is the 100th anniversary of President Woodrow Wilson’s speech to Congress seeking a declaration of war against Germany. Many people celebrate this centenary of America’s emergence as a world power. But, when the Trump administration is bombing or rattling sabers at half a dozen nations while many Democrats clamor to fight Russia, it is worth reviewing World War One’s high hopes and dire results. Wilson was narrowly re-elected in 1916 based on a campaign slogan, "He kept us out of war." But Wilson had massively violated neutrality by providing armaments ... more »
