*Anti-Trump Students Demonstrating...* *are these demonstrators being handled by * *Colour Revolution "Regime Changers"?* Okay folks, I've been watching and listening to the newz on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation...our taxpayer funded neocon propaganda machine. There is non-stop highly inflammatory anti-Trump rhetoric on what passes for the nightly newz, combined with non-stop regurgitation of the street demonstrations going on in the US. I'm not a betting man but had I bet, it would have been for Hillary-- and the odds being offered would have been terrible for the bettor-- and I was tempted to buy stocks when I saw them collapsing last night. That would have been a losing bet, too. Dow Futures were down 750 points at one point. But, today, they are trading in a normal range as the uncertainty of what a Trump presidency would bring set in. The Nikkei was off almost 6%. The dollar dropped over 2% against the Euro and the Mexican peso collapsed by over 10%. But by mid-morning the Dow had turned around and was actuall... more »

I voted GREEN. I have been alienated from the Democratic Party's neoliberal and neoconservative alignments, but I never anticipated Hillary Clinton would lose the election. I'm hopeful Trump will de-escalate relations with Russia, but that is the only thing I'm hopeful about. In addition to my concern about his willingness to eliminate financial regulation, I worry that Trump will be only too happy to allow heedless resource extraction and environmental pollution. I worry about the rise in fascistic, xenophobic tendencies in the wake of this overwhelming Trump victory. Will polic... more »

Yesterday, a non-plurality of the voters chose a new President. Just like in 2000, the Electoral College is not going to the candidate with the most votes. As this new President has also shown himself to not share our democratic ideals, I find it difficult to have much respect for him. Indeed, I am considering not calling him by his name, ever. But perhaps I am just reacting out of the immediate shock. Therefore, I am asking you to respond to the poll at the top of the page regarding what I should call him. MA Citizens Offer a Resounding NO to Charter Expansion

Election of popular vote loser proves necessity of abolishing Electoral College

Kenneth Thomas at Middle Class Political Economist - 7 hours ago
For the second time in just 16 years, the new President is actually the loser of the national popular vote (click on "Popular Vote"). This is the fifth time this has happened in U.S. history; the last time it happened prior to 2000 was in 1888. As children, we were all taught to believe in democracy and majority (or as we later learned, sometimes just plurality) rule. How the fuck did we get from this... ...to this... ...to this in less than a year and a half? Well, as V said in *V For Vendetta*, "You have only to look in a mirror." As of this moment, Hillary Clinton still leads Donald Trump in the popular vote by over 209,000. Of course, in the United States, it's not the popular vote that counts, which seems to run counter to the idea that we're a democratic republic, but the Electoral College. And the Electoral College, that perennial School of Hard Knocks, tells us that Trump has won the presidency with 279 electoral... more »

*WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2016 Also, Bruni wept:* How ridiculous was the New York Times down the stretch of the White House campaign? In its pseudo-reporting of politics, the Times is a rolling gong-show. Consider the recent, snarky front-page report about the dying candidate's final days. The report was written by Haberman, Parker, Peters and Barbaro—a genuine Times rogues' gallery. The snarky quartet mistakenly thought Trump was on the way out. Countercurrents, CounterPunch, Global Research, RINF I watched Donald Trump’s presidential victory speech. He spoke a lot about unity, the potential of ordinary, marginalised people and about making the US great again. He spoke about rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, creating jobs and about finding common ground with other nations. He can be quite charismatic and, taken at face value, quite convincing. His victory was, to a large extent, achieved because many (white) working class folk could identify with much of his rhetoric. After watching his speech, I was immediately remind... more »

President Trump and Congress should award Julian Assange of WikiLeaks the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his contribution to the security and national interests of the United States. Has a journalist ever played such a key role in exposing the rampant corruption of the powers that be, while under such enormous pressure? Mainstream media and the establishment may be uncomfortable with WikiLeaks’ open model of journalism, but it is perfectly harmonious with the First Amendment and makes sense in the internet age. Can Hillary Clinton still win this Presidential Election? (Part 2) Keep a watch on Michigan

Not a sheep at Not a sheep - 23 hours ago
It looks as though the late counts in Michigan MAY be turning the result there. Donald Trump's lead is smaller than the uncounted votes and those votes are in Democrat strongholds. It looks like too big a lead but if just a few extra Democrat votes can be found then it might be close enough for a recount and then who knows what chicanery might be tried. You can keep an eye on this at many sites but the New York Times stats are quite fun to watch change http://www.nytimes.com/elections/forecast/president/michigan

The ending of the Philippine alliance would free the hand of china and the Vietnamese to settle their claims free of an outside power to be played off. Then the Philippines can apply to deal with what those two leave on the table. What is really needed there though is a proper joint management authority that implements a sustainable fishery protocol capable of massively increasing supply at marginal cost. Toilet Training from Birth? It is Possible

I think that at the end of the day, that a proper set of effective tools will need to be invented. Add this to actual mother training and this can clearly be sucessful. Otherwise mothers have to invent solutions and that is unsatisfactory. We are not getting it right and that is amply proven by the steady slippage in toilet training introduction. Again parents listen to advice from doctors here because we have lost the community support to pass down such skills and it is always easier to put it off. Wrong Trump predictions due to omnipresent left-wing liars, propagandists, bullies

Donald Trump has been elected the 45th president of the United States of America. Congratulations! He may have flaws but as far as I can say, he represents a much better direction for the future of America – and the West – than his competitor. His victory – 306 to 232 electoral votes or so (or 30-to-20 states) – is sound and the difference in the popular vote is just 0.2 percentage points in Hillary's favor. And as Ann Coulter has observed, if only people whose grandparents already lived in the U.S. were voting, Trump would have safely won all 50 states in a landslide. *A 20-minu... more »
