At first glance, the World Bank's latest assessment of our water situation seems right on: Clean water will become increasingly important (and scarce) in our warming world, and its lack will have big impacts on the economy. We're glad the World Bank is waking up to that fact.
But when the World Bank says we need to expand "water supply and availability" through more dams, we take issue. As current droughts are showing, dams do not create water. Reservoirs harm water quality, and send rivers into the sky through evaporation every year.
Recharging our groundwater aquifers is a MUCH better option -- it filters the water, stores it where it can't evaporate, and saves money. So why isn't the Bank on board??

Horrific...
could not finish watching the video. The Maschhoffs, which is the third
largest pig producer in the U.S. enjoys business from Hormel Foods, one
of its largest customers. One of the company’s Nebraska big breeding
facilities is at the center of newly released undercover footage from
the Animal Legal Defense Fund, the nation’s leading legal animal
protection organization. The footage is sickening.

"When
Trump's supporters aren't being written off as intellectually incapable
of knowing a huckster when they see one, their motivations are often
ascribed to their being "working class." But the working class today is
nearly 40 percent people of color — and among people of color, Trump is
profoundly unpopular. His coalition is nearly entirely white. Even the
class part of the "working class" narrative is inaccurate; Trump's
supporters are wealthier than most Americans, and have higher incomes
than supporters of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. The "working
class revolt" explanation for Trump's rise is overstated — and it can be
a useful dodge to avoid talking about explanations involving racial
grievance."
“If abortion were outlawed today and next week a bunch of women died from coat hanger abortions, those coat hangers would have been in the hands of pro-choice people, not pro-life people,” Crutcher said.

What does it mean for researchers, journalists and the public when secrecy surrounds science?
Untrusted credentials. Funny about that.

Vibrio along the Gulf Coast
Three years since I got vibrio, and while I still have the leg its a painful situation everyday. Its amazing all the hate directed to those who have either been attacked by vibrio or died from the bacteria. Selfish people in this area don't care, it doesn't hurt them so its not important. I will continue my campaign to bring Vibrio out to the front no matter how much resistance from our Governor. Its simply amazing its more important to sign a law for legalized hate than provide information to those who go near the water. Quite sad how these things work out, what a few peoples deaths when you receive money from groups to approve a law for legalized hate....
FYI: I am looking for help with this page, while not required would like a person with first hand knowledge about the pain and recovery from vibrio.
