It's Never Easy To Fight Tammany Hall On Your Own-- They Fight Back... And Really Dirty

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 35 minutes ago
The *Ring of Fire* interview (above) will give you a very good idea why he is so hated by corrupt shills like Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer. When they hear him saying things like he said in the interview, they know that although he doesn't mention their names, they are exactly who he;'s talking about-- and should be talking about. ProgressivePunch grades Harry Reid's lifetime voting record a "C," which seems very generous of them. There are 10 conservative Senate Democrats with even worse scores than Reid's pitiful 76.83. Yesterday, Democratic primary voters in another state swung heavily for Bernie and against the conservative candidate of the status quo and of the Wall Street/K Street axis of plutocracy. Bernie beat her in West Virginia 51.4-36.0%, and winning every single county in the state, although she did OK in the two counties that are considered DC suburbs, Jefferson and Berekley. The evening before, Monday, everyone had been entertained when PPP released their latest polling data early and exclusively to Rachel Maddow and she led her show with a story about how both the generic band Nick... more »

A Supreme Court judge has ruled that a father must treat his 11-year-old daughter as a boy, at the request of the child. Trumpeting American debt default

*CNN*: *Russia's military might: Putin's foreign policy in numbers* (CNN)For the tens of thousands of spectators who cheered on Russia's spectacular military show on Monday, this was as much about looking to the past -- as preparing for the future. While the annual grand parade officially commemorates the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, it is also an opportunity for the Kremlin to show-off its modern day military might. Throughout the morning the latest T-14 tanks trundled into Moscow's Red Square, while supersonic jets roared overhead. The awesome parad... more »

Lots of insane events have been taking place at many universities thanks to the unregulated propagation of the political correctness in recent years. When I was an English major in the late 1960s, I was immersed in the late stages of the New Criticism, a literary theory that tried to examine a work of literature based on formal structural elements that bracketed authorial intent or social milieu. The New Criticism was a neo-Platonic concept based on the shaky premise that literary value can be ascertained without the messy issues that arise when we examine literature as a reflection of the human condition or as a cultural artifact with some significance for understanding the world we occupy as sentient beings. As I have posted many times. The problem with minimum wage is not the need or the idea itself but that it demands establishing a bid price to absorb all supply. Only then can the economy adjust and properly restructure. It got everyone mobile and fed early in the morning and then fed and available for additional work after lunch on their own recognizance. My objective is to provide a protocol ... more »

*-by emorej a Hong Kong* The current Presidential campaign has evolved much further, towards a potential major ‘realignment moment’, than is widely appreciated. Much of the Hillary-supporting drumbeat of pressure on Bernie includes realignment concerns in its undisclosed agenda. The end game remains unpredictable-- even without any Hillary-damaging ‘wild cards’ popping up directly or indirectly from the FBI or the Panama Papers. Bernie and Trump have been wild cards enough to make the entire alignment of national politics look as much like a house of cards as the 2008 crash reveal... more »

*Sputnik*: *US May Lose Significant Military Base Located on UK Territory* America may soon lose one of its largest military bases overseas due to the expiration of the lease on Diego Garcia Island in December this year. A 1966 agreement with the UK allowed the US Defense Ministry to use the Diego Garcia island — the largest of the 60 small islands in the Chagos Atchipelago in the Indian Ocean — for military purposes. The lease runs out in December, although there is an option to extend it for another 20 years. The islands were reportedly exchanged for an $11 million (£7.65m) disc... more »

Kill C14: Trust Patients and Doctors on Assisted Dying

noreply@blogger.com (fern hill) at DAMMIT JANET! - 1 day ago
DAMMIT JANET! has a not-so-radical proposal. Treat medical assistance in dying (MAID) like abortion. In other words, adopt no new law on it and let patients and medical professionals figure it out. In both Carter and Morgentaler, the Supreme Court called on Parliament to craft new laws. In declining to create a Charter exemption, SCC said in the "remedy" section of Carter: Complex regulatory regimes are better created by Parliament than by the courts. Bernie Sanders Supporters Wrongly Registered With Far-Right Extremists

Quote of the Day: Turgot v Keynes on the “circular flow”

When you compare the Classical Economists with Keynes on virtually any subject, it’s like comparing adult talk with the mewling of children. For Keynes, and Keynsesians, the key ingredient of an economic system is the “circular flow” of money between *business organisations*, in their capacity as *employers*, and *employees*, in their capacity as *consumers*. Roger Garrison’s diagram indicates the facile folly: [image: CircularFlow] The key to the Keynesian scheme is *consumerism*: his entire conception of a healthy economy fixated upon *consumer spending*. In a superb piece for the* Globe and Mail*, Ed Broadbent, Alex Himelfarb and Hugh Segal argue that Canada needs true proportional representation. Nothing else will do: The central problem with our winner-take-all system is that the composition of our elected parliament does not reflect how we actually voted. A candidate who receives a plurality of the votes wins, even if a majority of the voters chose others. The majority of the votes in such a case have no impact on the outcome of the election. That means a party that receives only a minority of votes, say less than 40 per cent,... more »
