This BBC report on the latest Islamist terrorist attrocity, this time in Lahore, is still linked to from the BBC news home page via a link entitled 'Unclear who target was'. This is odd as this BBC report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-35908291 clearly says: '"We claim responsibility for the attack on Christians as they were celebrating Easter," spokesperson Ehansullah Ehsan told Pakistan's Express Tribune.' Tony Blair: Islam Is Incompatible With Modern World

Edmondo Burr at Your News Wire - 8 hours ago
Former British Prime Minister and Peace Envoy to the Middle East, Tony Blair, has said that millions of Muslims hold a viewpoint that is “fundamentally incompatible with the modern world.” In an interview he predicted bigger and more terrifying attacks from ISIL than the ones carried out in Brussels this week, and a need to revisit Iraq and the region to directly confront the Islamic State terrorists on the ground. Most leaders of the Islamic State/ISIS/ISIL with their defiant extreme ideologies had at some point been guests at one of the western coalition forces’ notorious prison ... more »

Burning effigies that represent Judas Iscariot is part of a Mexican Holy Week tradition, but this year villages celebrated the Easter ritual by burning effigies of Donald Trump! Trumps anti-immigrant views have sparked outrage in many Central and South American countries SBS reports: In Mexico City’s poor La Merced neighbourhood, hundreds of cheering residents yelled “death” and various insults late on Saturday as they watched the explosion of the grinning papier-mache mock-up of the real estate tycoon, replete with blue blazer, red tie and his trademark tuft of blond hair. The Day of the Bird

Just a fast Easter post before I make dinner: Yesterday marked the first time Bernie could claim a clean sweep on a caucus or primary day. Naturally, Hillarybots are going to sneer and say that the noncontiguous states only have 55 delegates. But the fact remains it's a clean sweep for Sanders. Hillary had her redneck states, now it's the Day of the Bird. And the only chance Clinton has of pulling this out is if the stupendously corrupt super delegate system ignores the voice of the people and gives her the nomination in Philadelphia. Off to make dinner now. Happy Flyi... more »

Heinz Ketchup No Longer Legally “Ketchup” In Israel

Heinz is no longer to officially considered to be ‘ketchup’ in Israel. Israel’s Health Ministry ruled in 2015 that the brand product did not contain enough “tomato solids” to be labeled as ketchup in Israeli stores and was relegated to the title “tomato seasoning” The Times Of Israel reports: The ruling was the result of a lobbying campaign by Israeli food manufacturer Osem, which produces a large portion of the ketchup consumed in Israel. Ron Howard Admits Moon Landing Was Staged In Film Studio

Royce Christyn at Your News Wire - 8 hours ago
For decades, people have debated whether the 1969 Apollo moon landing was real or fake. One of the most persistent theories is that we have never gone to the moon, but instead that the entire thing was filmed on a sound stage. While varying degrees of this myth have existed over time, a few key points to the alleged version of events stays the same: 1.) We never landed on the moon. 2.) The US Government needed to do something to shore up global support as well as to show Russia where we stood as a global power 3.) A plan was devised to fake the moon landing (insert offshoot about St...more »

Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” A Bestseller In Germany – Again.

Adolf Hitler’s manifesto, Mein Kampf, is now a besteller in Germany again. While news stories of a plague of new xenophobic attacks in Germany have recently made headlines across the world, the publication of Hitler’s book (the first republication in Germany since WWII) – and it’s sudden rise to newfound fame (24,000 copies sold in under 2 months) – may not be such a bad thing when examined closer The Washington Post explains: Yet there’s no reason to think Hitler’s manifesto is to blame for the hostility toward refugees. For starters, the new “Mein Kampf” is hardly a neo-Nazi’s drea...more »

Reports of the Roswell Crash before Jesse Marcel's Revelation

KRandle at A Different Perspective - 9 hours ago
Since this point comes up periodically, I thought it time to deal with it. There are those who suggest that there was nothing about a crash mentioned in the 1947 newspapers and other documentation. The claim is that no one was really talking about a crash until Stan Friedman and Bill Moore put the idea into the heads of the witnesses with their leading questions and their enthusiasm for the crashed saucer tales. Len Stringfield To refute this idea, we need to look at the rather sparse history of tales of the Roswell crash. Oh, and we’ll overlook the tales of the Aztec crash here, th... more »

Representing Yourself At Trial

Conducting a trial is difficult and takes years of training and practice to do well. It is almost always best to have a lawyer acting for you should you be involved in a trial but sometimes that just is not possible. Legal aid does not fund every case and sometimes a lawyer's fee is simply unattainable. Recognizing that, people do go to court and represent themselves. In the event you do represent yourself, expect the judge to ask you (probably well before the trial date) if you are planning to get a lawyer – don't take that as an insult and feel free to let the judge know w... more »

But that’s statistically inaccurate and something else is implied: what once were called commoners, plebs, masses; they’re who Ford connected with. Pearson's Plan to Close the Achivement Gap

Their solution: super-early intervention in learning "basic skills" (Luckin et. al. 42) to ensure "school readiness" and "advise (parents) about strategies for talking to their child, sharing songs, and enjoying books." The first is not a good idea: skill-training does not lead to real competence, only better performance on skills tests: eg heavy phonics instruction only helps children pronounce words presented in isolation – it does not contribute to performance on test... more »

Bernie Sanders Powerless Against Global Capitalism

Edmondo Burr at Your News Wire - 1 day ago
US presidential candidates in both main parties embrace and propose to expand on American imperialism to secure resources for the country. America has been the dominant force in capitalist imperialism since winning the first and second world wars. Bernie Sanders’ dream of a revolution to kick out the Establishment and replace them with “peace-loving” democratic institutes that serve the people, and expecting the Elite to pay their fair share is a pipe dream, unless the Elite are willing to dismantle the whole structure of global capitalism, which is unlikely because the whole Americ... more »

Poulantzas, Althusser, and Ideology

Last time we saw how Poulantzas argued that received Marxist theories of the state tended to fall into one of two traps: the state as the passive slave of "active" economics, as per a mechanical, literal reading of Marx's base and superstructure *metaphor*. The second is the state as a straightforward expression of certain class interests, which in the case of capitalist societies is everywhere and always the owners of capital, the bourgeoisie. Yet there is an important alternative Poulantzas hasn't mentioned up until this point: the reworking of the Marxist theory of the state pro... more »

Bernie Sanders Should Do Well In Three States On Saturday

Bernie Sanders has a good chance to win three states on Saturday and then set the scene for a revolutionary contest between himself and rival Hillary Clinton. I'm thinking that there aren't that many Democrats in Hawaii who haven't already made up their minds about who they're going to vote for in the caucuses today-- or even *if* they're going to go to a caucus at all. Democrats are pretty split between the two candidates and there are 34 delegates at stake. I had to laugh, though, when I looked at who had endorsed Bernie and who had endorsed the conservative establishment candidate opposing him on behalf of the status quo. We don't know how many have been murdered or starved to death in Yemen because, it seems, there is no western source that gives a damn. We know it's thousands. More likely, it's tens of thousands.
