Today the CEOs of banks that engage in monstrous fraud are not even indicted, much less jailed. The last time such a criminal CEO was actually sent to prison was back in 1987 when there were laws on the book against accounting control fraud and the government actually fielded a few regulators of financial institutions. Even so, these regulators were threatened by the perps and hassled by five Senators (the "Keating Five") bought by the perps. On this video, the valiant regulator who put Keating away despite all of this pressure tells this story with good humor in less than 12 minutes.

*The CEO who said "No" to the NSA*
*"It's illegal, it's unconstitutional"*
*The government jailed him in retaliation*
In February of 2001, six months before 9/11, the NSA illegally sought (and
received) the private data of the customers of phone companies all over the
country in a warrantless search program.
One CEO, Qwest CEO Joseph Nacchio, said "No!"
The NSA cancelled its contracts with the company and then in retaliation
for his refusal to give in to intimidation filed an entirely bogus insider
trading case against him.

Arguing a lawyers bill is reasonable when seeking costs does not bar a later assessment of that account as unreasonable
Ghaeinizadeh v. Bennett Jones LLP, 2014 ONCA 267 is yet another case
showing lawyers ought not to argue an assessment is unavailable - generally
speaking the client can always assess:
[23] The issue in this case is whether that holding applies where the

That said, the American discourse is deeply broken in virtually every area.
In virtually every subject area, the discourse is ruled by bogus claims

Our public discourse is tribal narrative, pretty much all the way down.
Through no particular fault of his own, Drum’s post in praise of New

The CIA Gets To Redact The Report That Exposes Them As Liars And Torturers?
Yesterday, while House conservatives were voting for the 52nd time to deny
health insurance to American working families, the Senate was up to
something seemly more interesting-- and potentially more productive. After
voting 61-35 for a cloture bill to shut down the Republican filibuster of

Some news about Jordan that you won't find on the BBC
The Jordanian Women’s Union, along with lawyers across the Hashemite
Kingdom, expressed shock last week after a ruling discriminating against
women who do not wear the Islamic hijab was issued by the Amman Sharia
Court of Appeal, according to Al Medanah News.
The court announced late last week that it agreed with one lawyer’s
statement – based on a fatwa – that says a woman who does not cover up or
wear a hijab is considered a “slut” and shouldn’t be allowed to testify in
court.
In response, The Women’s Union released a statement published on Amman netthat describes the court’s deci... more »

*The Noah film is afloat with Greenie extremism*
AMAZING. Hollywood just killed God, and almost no critic noticed how it
quietly slipped a green human-hater in his place.
I never thought you could make a two-hour film about Noah and his ark
without mentioning “God” even once, but director Darren Aronofsky has
managed it in his $142 million epic, which opened last week.
His Noah, played by a muttering Russell Crowe, prays to a different deity,
a much nastier one called “the creator” who seems to brood on global
warming.
Hey, what a coincidence! So does Aronofsky, who last year decl... more »
Retarded UN Deputy Spokesperson: UN Has No Comment On Destruction of Kassab By US-Turkey-Saudi Backed Jihadist Terrorists
The UN does not like to acknowledge uncomfortable facts about the

Victims Bill of Rights
I have read Bill C-32 and there is really nothing very new in it.
Most of what it suggests - keeping complainants apprised of how a case is
going, taking their views into account in plea negotiations, helping
vulnerable witnesses give testimony - is already done. What's more most of
the language of the legislation is discretionary - it really does not
require anything very much to be done except to give information an to
listen.
Now that is valuable and perhaps it makes sense to put it into legislation.
Certainly it's hard to object to much in Bill C-32. But it changes very
little.

Is Edward Snowden helping Israeli tech industry?
*Edward Snowden*, the alleged computer expert, former CIA employee, and
"rogue NSA contractor" responsible for ostensibly obtaining and disclosing
thousands of classified documents and files relating to purported NSA
spying on American citizens, foreign governments, and international
politicians and world leaders to the media, may actually be helping the
notorious Israeli tech industry, according to one expert recently
interviewed by *The Times of Israel*.
Israeli cyber-security companies that can promise to effectively protect
user information from prying eyes may want to send rogu... more »
'Stinkburgers and Meanwiches": Allow me to present the President of the United States...
*who had to fly to Michigan on the tax-payers dime to call Paul Ryan's
budget a "stinkburger" and a "meanwich."*
What's next you low-class sock puppet? Calling Paul Ryan a "poopy-pants?
Notice most of the prop-people in the background are not laughing. Someone
sure didn't prep them properly.
And also notice at the .18 mark his trademark nose grabbing. Still blowing
white stuff up there, Barry Boy? Didn't your mother ever tell you to keep
your hands off your nose in public?
When is this national nightmare going to be over?
Everywhere Angels
You can see what it is you are creating when you look beyond *what* shows
up in your day to day, to *who* does. You are each other’s angels in a very
literal sense. You show up at critical moments in each others lives to
move things forward, fulfill prior arrangements and assist in the

These “others” show up for you in many ways. Today, with the internet as
well as hundreds of cable channels, it is possible for your angels to be
located anywhere on the planet. Every word you hear, or scene you watch... more »
Vomitrocities
The last thing Barack Obama wants to do is to spoil the appetites of his
rich benefactors or even worse, make them throw up after an expensive meal.
Vomitoria are not yet fixtures in the homes of our contemporary oligarchs,
as they were rumored to be back in Caligula's day.
Obama told attendees at the fundraiser, held at the Lincoln Park home of a
top donor, that he was late because of the situation developing at the
military base.
According to the Associated Press, Obama's announcement drew gasps and
cries of, *"Oh no." *
"We're monitoring the situation carefully," Obama said, ec... more »

Panic in Gunland
It's difficult to remain solemn and respectful in the wake of
yesterday's newest shooting at Fort Hood that claimed four lives and
injured 16 others. Certainly, the tragic subject matter doesn't exactly
readily lend itself to satire and snark.
That's why we have people like Pat Dollard and Dana Loesch, "people",
for want of a better word, who sally forth, heedless of social conventions
by going where no wingnut has gone before, contemptuous of the Obama-era
czars of basic human decency.
Because, according to former talent agent Pat Dollard (Breitbart's Big
Government,... more »
